Pinjra is the first ever Pakistani drama that I have started watching with my 12 year old daughter.
My daughter has been a high achiever right from the start but didn’t realise that my son (toddler at that time) felt under appreciated till he once showed me his drawing and I was like, “wow! This is so awesome!” And he went on asking, “is it as good as Sakeena’s?”
I will never forget that line and make a point to throw a lot of appreciation over little things towards both of them.

Pinjra is an eyeopener for all the parents who don’t understand that every child is different, and every child’s abilities and intelligence varies.
Honestly, I sometimes used to get frustrated while helping my son with his homework; he is just 4.5 years old but it’s so sad that schools have put so much burden on little kids through such tough syllabi.
After watching pinjra whenever I sit down with him for homework, I consciously appreciate him more for what he understands and repeat it again and again if he doesn’t so but don’t put him under any sort of pressure.
Every parent should watch and learn from this drama.

So overwhelmed with hassan's parenting advices. This was much needed. Unfortunately parents react to how education system works. They emphasize on only grades. That is where the mad race is starting from. People need to change their mindsets and start appreciating their children for many brilliant talents they have.

Pinjra was very overwhelming for me to watch, given that I have 3 kids, one of whom has autism spectrum and adhd. He isn’t disabled. He’s differently abled. That’s what I’ve learned in upbringing him. He’s 11 now. And we had all kinds of issues since he wasn’t diagnosed till he was in 2nd grade. We learn something new about parenting every day. Islam also teaches us to treat all our children equally to avoid sibling rivalry. Equal gifts, equal love and even money you spend on them should be equal. That’s a child’s haq on their parents. I wanted to cry when I saw the kid doing drugs :-(

We really need content like this that may be eye openers for parents and maybe to even heal our own pasts. This is relatable to anyone who have been told they are not good enough and it's about time parents stopped comparing kids with anyone. 98% of us would have heard the boarding school wala dhamkiyaan and I still remember this fear behind these words uttered by my own parents at some point even if they didnt mean it. Uff i was crying along when the kid playing abhaan was silently crying ❤ Hopefully people learn where and how they need to correct themselves and They better not ruin this one for me.

Pinja - I love this drama! It is a must for parents of South Asia!! What is happening in these families is so common it is shocking. I have always been very disturbed by how children are treated in Pakistan by their parents/families. The drama is effective at showing the injustices without sensationalising them. You don't have to beat children for it to be abuse. It is abuse if you belittle them, disregard them or force your opinion on them as a parent!!! What great performances by the child actors!! Wonderful!! I love that this is a story of the over forties!!! No mohabbat wali bakwaas!!

Both haqida and sunita's characters are oppressed by their husbands, one subtly, one more openly. But one choose to channel their frustration by oppressing her kids in turn, and one chooses to break free from the oppression and form an open, trusting, strong bond with her children

  • @mahadfraaz218

Pinjra is the story of every Pakistani family right now. There was not a moment where I could take my eyes off the screen. The writing and direction is superb and I can say that Asma ji (may Allah forgive her and grant her jannah) left us with a drama that will keep her voice alive. Hadiqa kianis character is like 90% of Pakistani women who are subtly suppressed by their husbands. And Hassan is spot on about Omair Ranas character. “Maar ta to nahi hai” - it’s like a justification that people give to these women that EVERYTHING is ok so long as he doesn’t hit you. What role does he have in raising the kids - negligible. And the contrast shown between Sunita Marshalls kids was spot on. They’ve really established a positive message even though it’s an extremely emotional watch. First you must MUST establish a total feeling of trust between your kids and then you can let them go and be free. And this message is so important for parents today especially when kids grow up with older siblings. For obvious reasons elder siblings get more liberty first and when the younger siblings see this, there’s an immediate and automatic comparison. Parents must learn to recognize this problem and raise their kids with this in mind. Some parents will give all three kids a phone at the same time. The 12 year old and 20 year old will have the same freedom and that’s when you get problems. On the other hand, if the parents give the 20 year old a phone and the little ones complain, they’re often faced with physical punishments and scolding. That’s also problematic and will cause rebellion. And that’s why you need to create a sense of friendship so kids can understand what’s going on.

    • @binitaroy17
      @binitaroy17 2 роки тому

so both a 12 yr old and a 20 yr old should be given a phone or not? or only the 20 yr old one?

    • @mahadfraaz218
      @mahadfraaz218 2 роки тому +1

@@binitaroy17 I’m trying to convey that it should be the same for each kid - for example each child gets access to a cell phone once they’re 16 or something like that. I know what I wrote was kind of confusing lol. But when you give your eldest child a phone then the little ones will complain. At this point some parents give them phones too because they don’t want to deal with the nuisance and other parents are way too harsh and hit and scold their children for complaining about it. Both parents are wrong. If the parents can befriend their kids and make them understand in a positive manner that is best. And it wouldn’t hurt to give your child your phone for a little while each day. I know it’s weird but you need to bargain with kids sometimes 😂

To begin with, as a social sc grad (psych major) I can state that Narcissism and Narcissistic Personality Disorder have got nothing to do with self love. Self love is a beautiful trait, it comes from self worth. Whereas Narcissism stems from inferiority complex. Narcissists know well about their internal insecurities and deprivations and they do projection (a destructive defense mechanism) on other people to feed their ego, because self love tou hai hi nahi unkay andar.
Projection consists of giving degrading labels and statements to people that actually exist within ourselves and not the person we are saying them to. For eg: A girl who is bodyshamed for her weight saying moti etc to a girl who is seemingly fit.
So self love and self obsession (which again are two separate paradigms) are far away from NPD. Hope this removes the misconception.
Conclusion: Hassan bhai, you're no way a Narcissist. Keep loving and appreciating your qualities, because we all do:)

Pinjra: I thoroughly enjoyed this drama! Asma Nabeel (God bless her soul) has written a beautiful and a thought provoking story. I'm not a parent yet it touched me deeply. I found some things triggering despite having grown up in a different time. I could relate to some things and it also helped me understand that how to parent after I become one in future. All the actors and director have done a stellar job. I was watching Sunita act for the first time and I really did like her.
Meri Shehzadi: This episode was a lot better and I really really liked Shahroz's character's casualness and nonchalance when he tells Dania that the child who is incessantly calling him is his son LOL I was so darn shocked ! I gotta agree with what you both said about Urwa's no variations in acting and styling. She really needs to work on those two aspects.
Wabaal: While I understand we started watching this drama for Sarah and Talha but after yesterday's episode I must say that I am super intrigued by Shagufta Ejaz's character and her back story. I hope both of you will include it in the next review video.
Fraud: This drama has been super duper disappointing for weeks now. I am continuing watching it for Saba Qamar and Ahsan Khan. I hope their paths will cross soon! Also I really hope they'll not drag the new track they are introducing in the next episode which is that of Shaan Kumar's stepmum and Shajji joining hands in order to rob Shaan Kumar of his wealth. Pinjra is today’s burning issue in every teenager’s house. We parents think only we can decide better things for our kids. The problems emerging in middle and high schools are beyond explanation. It is not only in India/ Pakistan, but this stress level has increased in schools in the US as well. The kids are hiding electronic cigarettes in the restrooms. Overdose of Fentanyl is killing many teenagers. All because of the stress level among the students. This is a compelling drama that every parent should watch.

I loved watching Pinjra. A very delicate topic and a topic that all of us parents think about every single day as we are raising our children. Some of us are fortunate enough to be in countries where we can encourage our children to be whoever they want and whatever they want withOUT societal judgement that may exist in countries like India (where I am originally from) and Pakistan.
Very thought provoking questions we ask ourselves every day - are we raising our children in the "right" way or not. Great acting by ALL the cast. Special mention to all the child actors and a couple new faces, oldest son of Omair Rana ji & Hadiqa ji.
I hope the momentum remains and this drama gets the same ratings as crapshoots like Mere Humsafar, KTK etc but who am I kidding,...it will not but I can always be hopeful.
I also loved reading comments on both videos on UA-cam and it got a TON of comments that are not the "generic" kind but the kind where audience is truly appreciating the storyline and content. It made me really happy to see that.

The guy might not be a predator but he is way maturer than the girl, she’s just a uni student and he has trapped her by reading her mind. He knows she likes flashy stuff and that’s how he bought her. Just a lesson for young minds. If they take it seriously.

Strongly agree with amna about Urwah's look. Even if she tried to make slightly change in her look, she will look fab as she looked fantabulous in "Sao Banjara" by fahad hussain. I must say "Sao Banjara" environment is a master piece.

Dear @aamnaisani and @hassanchoudary, just a little suggestion. You mentioned narcissism on a lighter note. I'm sure you meant self-love or mere self-obsession, but just an observation- that narcissism probably wasn't the best term to use.
It's an actual Personality Disorder, and there are people who suffer abuse coming from the narcissists in their lives. Let's not minimize or trivialise the trauma so many people go through on an everyday basis, when we can avoid doing that by just a better choice of words. 💛

I feel like recently Urwa hasn't been able to act well in Badzaat, Amanat and Meri Shehzadi. Amanat was the better one, I mean her acting-wise. But having seen her in udaari, punjab nahi jaungi, na maloom afraad, mushk, marasim and some more projects I feel like she truly has the potential. But I feel like, she is a director's actor and Nadeem Baig, Ahsan Talish aur Nabeel Qureshi have been successful in getting the best out of her but others have not. Also, I can't understand what's the issue Urwa kiyun nahi samajh paa rahi k aisay same style har dramay main nahi rakh saktay app. Na wo khudi samajh pa rahi hai aur na hi koi us ko samjha pa raha hai. Directors hi thora bata diya karain k kiya sahih lag raha hai aur kiya nahi.

Agree with you both. As beautiful as Urwa is, she needs to reinvent her looks. I think both Ali Rahman & Urwa are self conscious as in they always want to appear beautiful on screen. Ali was better today but I would like them to stop focusing on looking good and focus more on acting. So done with the girl who only wants Muhabbat !

Whilst I do agree with Hasan’s POV to the extent that comparing children, promoting vicious unhealthy competition and beating/bullying the children should be a total NO-GO, yet I can’t stress enough on the importance of academic oversight of children. I am the first of Generation Z of the family but I can vouch that not every Baby boomer parent had the toxic approach to encouraging healthy academic performance. Some merely rewarded you with little gifts to encourage you and cheer you up if you struggled. Maybe a complete neglect of grades won’t be something I’d go for but yes I agree values, morals and ethics go far beyond. I have met a decent number of academics in my life and for some I can safely say “I have never met more unenlightened and regressive individuals .

Hassan and Aamna, today's show made an interesting watch, indeed.
Hassan , I always feel delighted when parenting tips come from dads , since it's often (mis) understood to be a (women's) / mom's arena.
Hassan and Aamna, talking about Pinjra, it sure does shakes up your senses. But the issues depicted are far more deep rooted . Being a parent myself, I feel that in our education system both the child and the parent are in a constant turmoil. And most parents that I know ( including myself) , are sucked into this rigmarole, unknowingly and unwillingly. Also being a non resident Indian, I have found out that its not only our desi system but everywhere around the world , education boils down to grades !! It's a bitter truth. Teachers more often are underpaid and overworked and so they are also in the grind. I felt deeply connected with the scene when Khaditja says - PTM hai, lagta hai iss baar bhi sharminda hi karaaega. PTM s are usually an unpleasant and anxiety ridden events much like depicted in the drama. Many teachers carelessly pass insensitive comments which are quite scarring for both the parent and the child. Remember the school scenes of parent teacher interaction in the movie Taare zameen par......??? Same......
Now coming to Daraar......Aamna and Hassan , I seriously disagree with you both of not putting Shaheer Ahmed in predator 's category !! If he is not the one , then who is ? He is shown to be a casanova who's only aim for meeting the women is to exploit her sexually. He is shown to be doing so to several of them. Sure, he is not threatening them , but he is leading them by crook which makes him even more vicious !! His love for his grandmother doesn't compensate for being a pervert that he is !! He gauged Sajjal's greed for wealth and luxury and smooth talked her into his plan of things. He helped her out of her troubles only to ask the sexual favours in return. And voila, he has succeeded......
And hassan I really liked the term whisper talk that you coined and one such character who is whisper talking all along ( besides urva of meri shehzaadi) is Irha in Daraar to make audience believe that he is the girl who you would like to introduce to your family.....😄 Her dialogue delivery comes out to be totally fake and made up.

Pinjra is great and i loved the first 2 episodes. I just have on problem and that’s with Wajiha’s family. I mean they look too good to be true. I like that she trusts her kids but what I don’t understand is that they are still kids. They seem to be way too mature because it doesn’t matter how good you are, you do slip up and make some mistakes. Their mother isn’t home so it’s very unrealistic they never take advantage of that. Plus no family is perfect and no method is perfect. It varies from kid to kid too. My sister is a working woman and her only son is not really good at studies and one of the primary reason is she started doing job so she had to admit her son to a school and he wasn’t even 3 years old at that time. So I think they shouldn’t show all the good things about wajiha’s way of parenting because i myself know some people who suffered because no parent especially mother wasn’t their growing up. Same parenting is working on Azaan but it isn’t on Abban and to an extent on Abeer too. Parents don’t see sports and arts as a career which they should these days.

Themes i could identify in pinjra:
-working women are often demonized for being negligent mothers, but it's the parenting strategy that matters when raising the kid. A stay at home mother with a short sighted and oppressed (hence oppresive nature) could be an awful mother

    Aapne bilkul sahi kaha
Hassan Bhai ki grades pe zyada focus nahi hona chahiye
education aur tarbiyat pe hona chahiye
aur ek baat ye bhi hai ke parents agr tawaja dein to apne sb bachhon pe dein
    only ek pe na dein
for example mein apni baat krti hu
mere parents only mere Bhai ki study pe focus rehte hain
    meri pe nahi
qki vo studies me kmzor hai
aur mein hamesha 1st position lati thi
lekin mein bhi chahti thi ki meri trophies aur mujhe bhi importance mile
    mein jb bhi trophy lati
    koee dekhta bhi nahi
bs mere Bhai ke km grades pe sb attentive rehte
ki isko kisi achi academy me dalo
