The US Destroyer Class is a bit lighter (displacement) yet has 96 VLS Cells, the German F126 only 16 VLS Cells (plus 8 mid sized anti ship missiles with rather limited range) ... advertising the module "Gewahrsam" results in most likely the worlds most expensive seldomly used (we do not hunt the pirates really) prison cell. The full leadership of the German Military Purchasing Department was fired some weeks back yet sadly sent to early interment on full payment ...

@@ThisTheAviator Explain to me how an aircraft carrier should help Germany? Germany is working on an Fcas with France and Spain. To what extent does Germany need nuclear submarines? These are only good for the attack, in terms of being silent, they are not even close to the level of an A212. I agree with you that the procurement is bad, but you are wrong on many points. Also, things may get better with the newest government.

It looks great. But... according to the information provided in the video and the comments on here; if the loadout of these future ships are going to be tiny, then Germany is basically repeating the same actions that the interwar German government did with the Konigsberg and Leipzig-class light cruisers in the 1920s-1930s.
Granted, the old Weimar Republic was under the restrictions of the Treaty of Versailles and the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922. But as far as I'm aware, modern-day Germany isn't under any sort of arms or armament buildup restrictions... are they? If not, then what's the German government's excuse for not arming these 10,000-ton (to hell with it, I'm calling them 'light cruisers') ships to the teeth? And if they are, is that the reason why these ships are going to be lightly armed?
Oh well, maybe when Germany and the Netherlands get around to the "Future Air Defender" project (they're calling that one a 'Frigate' as well, but judging by the looks of the concept art, it looks like a beefed up version of the current F126, so I'm going to call it a 'medium cruiser'), it will have more weapons and a meaner punch compared to the F126.

Keep in mind that german and dutch shipbuilders have a long history , The sachsen and zeven provincien class frigates ( well destroyers in reality) are of a same project slightly different but at the core the same. the Bremen class was based on the kortenaer class frigates , the current Kareldoorman JSS is shared with the germans. even before ww1 and ww2 both nations provided eachother with inovations and technologies . Most well know are the Battleship plans for the dutch in 1912-1913 , the java class cruisers. during ww1 and battle cruisers of 1939. In turn dutch IVS and INKAVOS provided the german navy with much information on building U-boats. And with firms like Hazemeyer ( later holland signaal , Thales netherlands) Siderious ,NSF , Philips etc tons of new tech and inovations where created .

Not quite. The Deutschland class was 10000 tons nominally, which is the planned displacement for the F-126, but they would only have this displacement if completely stripped of equipment - this was of course trickery to pay lip service to treaty restrictions. I doubt that germany will give up their newest frigates so quickly. The Navy is happy that they are finally getting new ships. They wont really share, especially not with the phillipines (I served with the german navy, they really need new ships)

It always works. 100 years ago in the 20s everyone believed that Germany no longer had an army. There are things that are supposed to be seen and some that are not.

thats 2016 news, in 2021 this problem has been dealt with and the readiness rates of Bundeswehr equipment (fighters, helicopters, ships, subs, mbt etc) ar all on NATO average or above (for example the EF2000 has a higher readiness rate than the US F-22, and germany maintains more active modern MBT than the UK)

@Hans Sausage uh... the mainstream media migt e wrong a lot of the time, but they are right about our fleet struggling to maintain its functionality. there is a constant supply shortage in spare parts and equipment.

Dude, we have active submarines. What you get to know in the Media about our military....is not that accurate.
