I am a man. I can grill. I can cook in the kitchen, quite well I've been told. I can mend (but don't ask me to sew clothing from bolts of cloth). I do all of my own domestic chores because I live alone and I am a functional adult. I fail to see why making these kind of skills would make you your own man any more than it makes me my own woman.

If only i know how to make ceramic chyna set. I'll be raking in the money if i do. A shame those type of industry is no longer around.😢😢😢 The factory that used to exist here is a shell now. Granted it require a lot of energy and cost a lot but the lost technique and know how is forever lost to the new generations because the people back then don't recognize the value if such industry.
My family is the same: Mom's in the kitchen, Dad's outside on the grill, unless it's Thanksgiving, then all the women are in the kitchen and all of the men are barred from entry until the foods done lol. I'm very close with my parents and live close, so sometimes I'll go over for dinner, and if my dad's grilling, at the very least I'm out there with a drink keeping him company. If my mom's cooking, I leave the kitchen alone until she done. She's made it clear that it's her space, to the point where she'll come in after you to make sure stuff is placed back the way she wants.

Unless we are talking about being in the wilderness with just flint and a cooking pot or less, boiling water is not a skill. Filian belongs in a compactor with the other damaged goods after she did that live stream.
Boiling water is a skill in the same way that breathing is a skill. By that, I mean the average person will only ever be perplexed that anyone would consider it a skill.
If you are Hafu, yes. Years ago on a stream she said she didn't know how to boil water, which is why her and her fiance at the time only did door dash.

As a man, I just like to cook because it makes me feel like it's my laboratory where I can experiment.
On my family get togethers, I try to help even though traditionally it's the women that cook. As I got older, I was tired of sitting around when I can help. When it is my immediate family doing it, I am sort of needed since it would just be my mom and sister doing things if I didn't help. My aunts and cousins really don't help anymore or never did as they got of age to.

Last time I tried to grill pork chops they turned into jerky haha stupid grill. I’ll redeem myself one day or when the zombie apocalypse comes and I have no choice.
I've never been one for fine china, but I can understand having it for special occasions. My cooking is still beginner level, but I've gotten to the point that my spaghetti is pretty good. I'll have to find an Italian grandmother to judge properly though. My hope is I'm not immediately thrown out of the kitchen, with my entire lineage cursed by pasta magic from the sghetti witch. I just throw things together without measuring when i cook. I also follow recipes when I'm first figuring out how to cook a specific thing.
My dad taught me a few things about grilling growing up. I'm like one shared grilling moment with my dad to know exactly how. Besides, grilling is the superior way to cook meat.
I literally bought the picnic set from Pokémon Center over a year ago. Still haven't used it because I don't go on picnics. Le sad.
My grandma had some fine china with linesmen on it, because my grandpa did that job for awhile.
