      I get the feeling Ferrari only really look after their middle eastern customers now. Its a trend I've seen with a few luxury car brands. My degree is in automotive design, and i always dreamed of owning a lambo. But i have friends who had expensive cars, and the problems and niggles they encountered made me just want a Mazda 3!!

    Hi mate. I specialise in car electronics repairs in Australia. Specifically on higher end European cars. To me this is 100% an issue happening on the CANBUS network. Definitely a poor connection or grounded wire somewhere on the harness. Other than that, a faulty module could be causing this network to go down. Luckily there are 2 CANBUS networks (a high and low) the car can function on one but it will cause a lot of errors on the dash to appear. Best of luck with the repair

      Sadly you haven’t seen anything yet. A lot of it these days is to do with regulation and laws over safety and monitoring. All new EU cars must now be fitted with a system that reads road signs and controls your speed automatically, otherwise they can’t be sold in the EU. You can override the system, for now, but it’s yet more tech being forced into cars. They will be regulating self driving tech next too.

    In America there are what's called lemon laws. The fact that the car has been to 7 dealerships within a relatively short period of time would legally classify that car as a lemon and the seller by law would have to either replace the car or give you a full refund, whichever you prefer. I would hope that the UK has something similar.

      @@mrufo2297 you got stuck with 3 lemons? That's horrible luck. Every used car that I have ever purchased I paid $400 to specialty mechanics to get checked out before purchasing. Only once was an issue found when my dad tried to buy his dream car, a Thunderbird. It drove down the street crooked, which we would have never noticed without that mechanic. I have no reason not to believe anything that you stated. I am aware of the laws, but have never read the literature of the law. If there is a calculation that's unfair but good to know and I appreciate you sharing that because I will be sure to document everything within the first year of any used car I purchase in the future. I never buy new because I see that as a rip off. I always buy used with under 20,000 miles, and around 2 years old. That seems to be the sweet spot to get the best deal. I once considered selling my Lincoln LS because it had a constant issue with the same sensor going bad after I put about 80,000 mi on it and I got sick of dealing with it. 3 different dealerships, about $2,500 total. They all claimed to solve the problem, and it resurfaced a week later and none of them could figure it out. I couldn't morally sell the car even though the sensor issue was sporadic and if someone took it for a test drive they would never know. If I cleared all the codes and they took it to a mechanic they would never know. Instead of selling it I just donated it to charity. People that knowingly sell these cars are scum. I wish you better luck in the future.

    From an Electrical Engineer's point of view it sounds like a Wiring Harness is all screwed up. Too many faults from different systems at the exact same time. I would be pulling wiring diagrams and find the middle point and start taking measurements. Then find the point where all the systems are going too. It's definitely electrical. Nothing mechanical or sensors. I would be asking Ferrari for the full wiring diagrams for your car and then take it to an Electrical Engineer. Not a Ferrari Mechanic.

    • @SirHoffinator101
      @SirHoffinator101 3 місяці тому +11

      Well the good news is, replacing the ECU is significantly easier than going through the entire wiring harness. I would swap the ECU, clear faults and see whether
      Happens. If fault still exists, work through the wiring harness connectors and then harness itself. The worst part is, things that have nothing to do with one another can cause weird errors…for example if my windshield wiper fuse blow, I lose control to my 4wd/transfer case and the manual does not show that fuse having any relation to it.

    Feel for you mate. These big brands are always let down by the approach and attitude towards issues. Whilst your dealer may have done what they can, no doubt they are / were limited by the instruction from Ferrari themselves. Piss poor and I hope you have every success with any legal action you take.

    Ferrari should be sued for your Gumball entry fee, transport, and on and on. This is disgraceful for a 600k + vehicle

    I'm remembering an older video I watched with either DDE, or one of their friends.... I think DDE though, that was having the same exact problem. They switched the aftermarket exhaust they put in with the original one, and it fixed all of the problems. Then they left the original in, until they had someone that knew what they were doing, to come and use their diagnostics machine to reset something in the system. It ended up working perfectly again with no issues, so they found out that it was the aftermarket exhaust that was causing the problems, because the computer in the car wouldn't recognize the aftermarket exhaust. Those kinds of cars systems are specked to their Ferrari parts alone. It took someone that really knew what they were doing to fix the problem, and they were able to put the aftermarket exhaust back on after they did an upgrade to the system. Good luck man, we're all rooting for you!

      I don’t think you heard him right. He put the exhaust on 8 months after he bought it. The problem surfaced 3 days after he bought it. So the exhaust isn’t the issue.

      @@michaelcady1945 I must have missed that, but know that I'm thinking about it, Nico might have the same problem Damon has. When your battery starts to go bad, and it doesn't have enough juice, it will either shut down certain electronics in the car to save on battery. Then when you start the car finally, and get it moving, the alternator begins to slowly charge the battery. It's gonna come to a time though that the battery gets so bad, that it won't start the car period, no matter how you try to charge it. As soon as you sit in the car and put the key in, all of the dash lights, and every other electronic system starts up right away. When this happens, it's sucking all the juice you have left in that battery. I would say to ask a friend there if you can borrow their battery for a minute. If you plug that one in, and the electronics start to work, along with the car starting, then you know what it is. Good luck Nico, I'm rooting for you!

    I feel so bad for Nico… seeing him go through that stress and all the emotions… feeling like he’s let down the fans when he’s dealing with that all. Thank you for showing it all and sharing what is happening - you’re amazing personality still shows through and I hope the Gumball Experience gets better from here.

      @@JakubVacek42The car is kinda pivotal in the completion of the rally. Cars can really hamper how you feel sometimes when they start acting up. I’ve had a BMW 5 series with electrical issues and overheating issues that I never trusted that car each time I drove it. I’ve also had a VW Touareg that had electrical issues shutting off the car while driving, limp mode and not starting with the start button or key. They can be headaches at times.

    There is something really wrong with that car, more like a lemon afterall. The issue pops up 3 days after delivery and yet they blame novitec for the exhaust and void the warranty which was put on the car months after the initial issue showed up. Seem like lawsuit is the reasonable way for you to get justice, you have a strong case with evidence the errors began way before you change the exhaust, you already put back the stock catback system after 3 months the car under the care of Ferrari service center yet the problem still exist. Ferrari make an absolute brilliant car with the 812, but how they handle customer service truely disrespect the brand. Hope all goes well Nico!
