I Bought my Cimarron 1887 6 months ago. I absolutely love it. It does have a half-cock press down about a 1/2' to the first click it's a little tough at first but after you break it in it gets easier. The first day I got mine, I shot 200 rounds using Winchester ammo from Walmart. Target, bird shot, buck and also Remington Sluggers. About 25-50 rounds I started to really pickup speed. when I finished, I took it inside and I watched a few videos on how to disassemble a Winchester 1887. It's pretty spot on. I polished up the internals, and the chamber, I trimmed off 1 5/8'' off the mag spring so I could ghost round 6+1. and added a limb saver and a paracord wrap to the lever. I am a 1000+ rounds and going strong. Also, I added a hand full of coats of Sweet Patina to the finish when I had it taken apart and a few more times after I put it back together. It's a preserver helps to prevent rust and it's a good protective against wet weather conditions. Great video.
I own two 1897 shotguns (real ones). I wnted to get a 1887 but can't afford a Winchester model. Guess I will buy one of these. I didn't want the Norinco one due to reliability and parts issues. The Chiappa ones just never seem to be available. Now I may be able to get one.
I think I used a few brands - we'll try to put a short together but - the gun didn't really misfire at all. Now, if you don't really work the lever, it does fail to extract or feed but that's more of a user error than a gun issue imo.
Really!?!!? I'm not a big Glock fan BUT I really liked the way the G20 shot. Despite my reservations about it, I almost got it instead of the Smith. I honestly think a 10mm in a 1911 platform would work best BUT you have to learn to live with the reduced capacity. I should grab one of these and try out my theory ... (yeah, I know just another excuse to buy a toy - lol)
Hey there Gun Guy. I've got one of them and I have really been enjoying it. I've posted a number of videos sharing my experiences with it and observations of others shooting CAS with it. Like ScottGraham said, the more you use it the quicker you will be. Deuce Stevens has some good tips which have helped me a lot. Well done video. I just subscribed to your channel. Cheers!
Good video. You were right on when you mentioned that lever action shotguns are generally too slow to reload and get rounds down range versus a double barreled break action, pump action, or semi-auto . I've seen a few videos from gun tubers on torture tests of lever actions and the sentiments are the same. They do look great though.
I've been practicing with mine and my experience is that I think you can get just as fast with the lever gun as with the other platforms but it takes more work. On one of my videos I did split time comparisons using the 87 against a competent shooter on a 97 and when I took out the fumbles getting to the line and getting loaded the 87 was nearly as fast in stock configuration with just a little practice. I switch back and forth with the SXS. it is fun to shoot
Your trigger seems to be a lot lighter than mine. The hammer on mine really slams forward when I pull the trigger. The half cock can be reached by pulling the trigger and lowering it about 1/4” which sounds scary with a loaded round so I haven’t tried it. It can also be reached just by cocking the hammer slowly with your thumb. I love mine and I’m super happy I picked it up! Have just under 200 rounds of birdshot and buckshot.
Don't hate to break it to you but this is a semi refined Chinese made PW87 from Norinco. Also, 1984 was set in stone last year. You are welcome. Edit: I really should have watched the entire video before shooting off my damn mouth.
yeah yeah yeah,,, you took it out of the box and did stuff to it,,,, how about the meat and taters of it, how does it shoot, problems with 2 3/4 shells like some of the other ones,, you know real gun talk !

Terminator 2 alone keeps the 1887 in production.
It, the Red Dead games, and Modern Warfare
OK, I thought it was a one-time error when you said VICKSBURG but when you repeated it I had to laugh. It is FREDERICKSBURG TEXAS!😂
Oh sure, pick on the guy because he can’t read. Lol I didn’t even notice I did that.
@@DaGunGuy, nah, you gave me a good laugh. I own an 1887 and do cowboy action shooting and I enjoyed the video.
Good Video-
Like to seen more shooting and types of Ammo with Misfire Reporting.
Thanks!

I bought the same recoil pad but I used the string they gave extra of to rap the handle for my knuckles.
Ah! I didn’t even think of that.

Vickensburg? Mean Federicksburg? Good video. Thnx
just a heads up the text on the box says Fredericksburg Texas not Vickensburg

I’ve tried lowering that hammer with the gun empty. I think it’s just safer to forget about the 1/2 cock safety.
@@DaGunGuy I agree lol it doesn’t seem worth it
I've always loved these old shotguns and rifles! How much does it cost?
You can grab one for under $500.00 if you look around.
If they were made in Texas i would've already bought one ..
Is the barrel cylinder bore? Or is it choked down to IC or Modified bore?
I believe it is a fixed full choke
Can this be purchased with a 26" barrel with a modified choke?
I don't believe so. But you can check their website.
I don’t mind if it’s from china, I have a lynx 12 that’s been flawless.
