600 Thousand Ton of technology: Prelude FLNG
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- Prelude FLNG (Floating Liquefied Natural Gas) is a floating platform for the extraction and production of liquefied natural gas. In fact, it is a full-fledged LNG plant housed on a ship. Its length is 488 meters, width is 74 meters, height is 105 meters, and its displacement reaches 600 thousand tons. The Prelude one is of the largest floating structures in human history, making even giant tankers, cruise ships and aircraft carriers seem small by comparison.
The ship was built by the Samsung / Technip consortium for Royal Dutch Shell and is currently operating at the eponymous Prelude field off the coast of Australia.
Thanks for watching!
i could only imagine the Autocad file on this ship hahah
How would you even start
@@oatlord pipe... number 1....
My roommate does that for Toyota lol, I couldn’t even BEGIN to imagine the size of the file for this
Nah - gimme a napkin and a sharpie...
@@jesperhollensen726 thats probably now it started... most great ideas are simple...
Should have named it "Red Dwarf" :-)
As a plumber that pipework is very impressive
FLNG: Frigging Long n Gigantic.
Waiting for a million ton ship
The crazy ship, but real
Honestly it’s an impressive work of engineering and I and happy to be about to see it :)
Oh ye men
Never heard of this beauty, so glad that I found this video :)
Still not in operation AFAIK. A shore based LNG plant at James Price Point as originally planned would be up and running and returning a profit to shareholders by now. ( Yes, I am posting from Western Australia, where the state government definotely preferred the onshore processing).
On another note, this guy sounds exactly like Sky from Skyships Eng channel. If so, I love that channel and recommend it is well worth checking out of you are into aviation, especially Russian aviation. Great channel.
Haha, Skyships voice, really)
dude, i made the same relation 15 seconds in the video, must be the same guy!
Been producing at reduced rates since December 2020. Is keeping a very low profile in the media due to safety breaches/cost pressures/union activity. - no news is good news
Very distinct voice, almost expected something about a plane. 😄😄
This is the most remarkable engineering, technology and construction feat ever conceived in a single, self contained, mobile form, in world history!
pity its not working as it should.............
6:08 “It could be compared with some famous ships, for example the titanic but here the dimensions are so big you probably count in titanics.”
This made me laugh 🤣😂😅 this ship is comically huge! 😅👍
What if it was a Decepticon??🤔..
Would love to see how it transformed and how massive it would be..
Oh god...
That would be terrifying
I got the chance to see this ship under construction for a 2 week period I was taking delivery of a mega container ship, the OOCL Korea, which was also built at Samsung Heavy Industries... It's a monster of a ship. You don't truly appreciate its size until you're next to it XD
The pity is that in over 2 years in start up and production mode, it has off loaded only one commercial shipment to a customer, and continues to be plagued with issues that has had it off line for over 12 months.
The birthing pains of nascent technology. The _Prelude_ may prove trouble-laden but, the next generation of ships will be constructed having learned lessons therefrom. As a first son in my large family, I can attest that perfecting the formation of an adapted product (evolution) takes time, trial, and failure. Our family's youngest is a veritable financial wizard; a faithful and contemplative Catholic with a rigid code of ethics and principles; and a 6'4" monster of a body builder but, he wouldn't have been possible were it not for me.
Samsung prelude
Samsung prelude max
Samsung prelude pro ultra max
Titanic might as well be considered a yacht at this point 💀
Wow Elon Musk paid 44 of these for a website
I dont know how i got here, but am glad i did. :)
Very informative
I love the Titanics measuring system. ACE.
👉🏻 Prelude FLNG is Thanos of all ships.
Damn... most Malaysians aren't even aware that Petronas has one of these lol
Two,second still in build
I can only imagine how much money a worker makes onboard a day, and the break rotation.
On board ship 3 weeks to a month - no wife/girlfriend or kids, no alcohol/drugs, no sleeping in, cafeteria food, dangerous area & same people everyday ... Yep the money is good but for how long ?
@@jwarmstrong Pretty good stuff. Not everyone needs, what you just listed up. Its truly a different work experience. Better than any 9-5 office job eitherway.
@@jwarmstrong guarantee you the food on this ship is of fine dining caliber
Im a steward on it and i make $1000/day and im one of the lowest
Impressive This must have taken years to design and build . If it cost $12 billion or more will they get that back over the years and it must have a life span on 50 years
Jesus, we need to stop extracting carbon. This thing is an astonishing feat of engineering, tho. Just wow.
Malaysia having 2 Gigantic FLNG. Petronas. Congrate to SHELL and Petronas Malaysia.
I love this thing. It might be a planet crushing monster but it makes me tingle in that special kinda way 🙄
Sounds as you are LGBTQ+ member - so you could date a pipe, sea gull or fish -
Apple: we build the best smart phone :P
Samsung: Hold my 600 thousand tons FLPG Mega star Ship :)
The presenter sounds like he has had two sessions of vocal coaching to suppress his Indian accent lol.
The axle that it turns on makes it unique, and solves a lot of issues for station-keeping. Be constantly fighting rust on that thing, would need teams of people just for that and monitoring methods for any gas leaks.
the turret concept have been used for decades on FPSO's
This isn't a ship it's a barge
I want to see this as a very expensive LEGO Technic set with at least 10,000 pieces.
If this ship would stuck in Suez where Eveegreen stuck,it would need 5 months to unstuck it lol
Probably faster to just build a new canal around it
Being as long as it is, probably would not have gotten stuck in the same way. Bank drafting on something that size must be a struggle.
This ship is wider than some parts of the Suez canal - so it wouldnt even be able to get there in the first place!
You're an idiot.
Excellent video.
Malaysia have 2 PFLNG
and petronas have proven the biggest value in flng, they moved pflng satu to a new field and started up production without a lot of issue...
Good to see some Australian parts on it and seeing it of the coast of Australia
600,000 tons is almost three times the Evergiven. Certainly won't be doing the Suez run. Only the Koreans can build behemoths like these. I didn't hear anyone saying "x-football" fields though.
Great information muy name Is Zaire i m mexican
Gas itself is Gaseous.. Duly Noted ...
Why arent we moving toward producing Very High Tempture Reactors(VHTR) in fleet mode so that we can start producing hydrogen. The first country to take this step will lead the world.
So, How Many drydocks will be able to accommodate this ship?
I guess this ship need dry doc ones a 20 years
@@trash4cash454 I estimate just about every five years for Class Renewal of all certificates and surveys. A common practice for FPSO`s and floating oil platforms.
This was a well presented video. Very informative
Amazing video please keep them comming!
@Horizon, I have been trying to inform you of another UA-camr Stolen and copying your videos "ILLEGALLY"
His channel name is.." Not What You Think"
Look at "Largest Submarine in the World" video and "What Differentiates Ships from Boats?
That videos 100% same as your "Typhoon - the largest submarine ever" video
.
They seem like completely different videos, so I don’t think this is correct.
That's why sea level will rise even more and flood the poorer coastal countries.
Consider that the reason this exists is so we can burn more and more hydrocarbons, faster and cheaper. Looks like Greenland is going to become a ClubMed beach destination, in our lifetime. :^/ (Er, at least, the parts of it that remain above sea level...)
if you believe that the reason it exists is to burn more hydrocarbons, I would recommend continuing your education
@ minute 2:06 speaks about GTL process, not LNG
Imagine playing hide and seek on this damn thing! Lmaooo
that was interesting. thank you!!
So the ship should be called Mr. Worldwide
The negative influence of renewable energy consumption, as well as the larger effect of imports, emphasize the necessity of implementing ecologically friendly measures in both energy sectors (particularly, the need to increase the share of renewable energy in total energy use) and international trade.
As soon as zero point energy is made public. This thing will be completely useless overnight!😊 But it is impressive.
So is this the same as the platforms now unloading LNG into Europe? But working in reverse, I guess.
Re thumbnail: kudos to the river pilot.
the complexity boggles my mind.
Me captain of this ship there would be a bungee jumping spot at the end of the giant arm/crane thing
That would hurt because that's the main flare. :-)
Where is the smoking area?
i guess its on the 2 helipad :P
Top of the crane
No matter the size of the ship its still just a tiny drop of water in that vast vast ocean
Im waiting the movie when this ship failing someday. It would be great movie
have you ever considered we want to see the ship? and not the editor doing 60 cuts per minute?
Jesus... I just can’t imagine the possible environmental disasters that could possibly happen to this thing if something intense rocks up.
I laughed at the fact that he calculated the ships size using titanic as a unit of measurement
Really great😃😃😃
ShipZilla. That gigantomania is pretty crazy
Robinson Kevin Perez Charles Lewis Betty
Great video,keep it up!🟢🟢🟢㊗️🈹️
..Holy Ship, that's a biggin I tell you what
Yes it's a great feat of engineering,in reality it's a complete mess.I spent 18 months on the hookup of the Ichthys explorer offshore platform also built in Korea,on the instrumentation we replaced much of the substandard tubing which would have been very hazardous if not rectified.I had workmates on the Prelude with similar stories of poor workmanship. This is well known in the oil and gas industries, build them in Asia quickly and relatively cheaply ship them here then spend 10s of millions to get them to the standard to operate safely. On onshore facilities are every bit as bad.Just an aside rig workers are paid well they work 12 hour shifts 84hours a week, normally 2weeks on/off some times 3 not a great lifestyle.
If you want a really "FAR OUT" piece of marine tech, check out the Glomar Explorer and it was built in the 70s.
The process you show at 2:10 is a GTL process use to convert gas to liquids at a molecular level, and it is not the one used on this vessel. Prelude converts gas to a liquid via change of state caused by cooling it with refrigeration. You have made a nice video, but it is factually incorrect from a technology standpoint.
The ocean is vast. There is no limit when it comes to building bigger ships.95% of our oceans haven’t been explored. If we run out of space on land, which would be many centuries, we can build underwater buildings.
6:30 I thought they gonna kiss
Are you big enough to block the Suez canal though?
General information,1st World FLNG is PETRONAS FLNG 1... second unit still in process...
what do we imagine we we hear giant shi_. Giant doodoo?
somali pirates:allow us to introduce our selves
Not many Somali pirates offshore in Western Australia but an Indonesian fishing boat might run into it which would scratch the buggers paint. A bloody disaster.
The video is quite inaccurate. To start is not liquid natural gas, but liquefied natural gas, and the process shown is GTL not liquefaction by cooling
I mean, it has TWO helicopter platforms, for Gods sake! Is there any other building or oil rig that has that?
*IT IS NOT A SHIP..!!!!*
Man the ship is no JOKE
This is bigger than my local town🤣
Spent 4 years on it. It’s a piece of crap. Tax dodge for shell that’s all it’s good for.
It would be even more impressive if it could be used for methane hydrate extraction
Let's hope Samsung builds better ships than they do household appliances.
The last cushion socially reflect because week contradictorily delight minus a sharp result. poised, finicky pink
All that marvelous shit and yet despite my hard work having hard time buying a single fried chicken.
There's no shortage of GAS and new fields being found each year...
Omg.... I can't wait to work on this beast... As a chef.... And it's been my dream for 14 years to work offshore.. And I've finally made it 💪
I want to see this CAD file😂
It's hardly a new idea, the use of FPSO's in the Oil industry (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) has been around for decades. Most were not bespoke vessels, rather old Oil Tankers that were adapted for the job. They would sit on a well head and process the crude, then store it for collection by a fleet of tankers and this still happens.
It seems totally sensible that the Gas production industry goes the same way, although more equipment is required for the liquification of the gas. This equipment is also required for the transportation of the gas in LNG carriers as the liquid gas if not stored below it's boiling point, will become a gas again and upset the storage arrangements of the carrier.
It is obviously only financially viable for use in some of the more out of the way gas fields such as this one off the NW coast of OZ.
Here in the UK we are lucky and have enormous natural gas reserves in the North sea oil fields so shore based processing facilities are a viable option. Indeed Shell operate one on the coast of Norfolk.
totally agreed ....the turret concept have been used for decades on FPSO's. If you want to look at a success story regarding the FLNG concept and in operation, look at FLNG Hilli Episeyo (Golar) - off the Cameroonian cost, maintaining a 100% commercial uptime since it first starting production in 2018. (( www.oedigital.com/news/489311-perenco-snh-to-increase-utilization-of-golar-s-hilli-episeyo-flng ))
Its clear that some industrialized countries have made major steps ahead in tomorrow's innovative, productive and creative world; just overwhelmingly fascinating insights😎
Samsung Heavy Industries
thats brilliant ideas and the must practical i have ever seen
Why the fuck do I care?
That clickbait picture though. No thanks
This ships name is Prel Ude
I wonder how many starship Enterprises can fit in this!
It can be counted
Ah yes, the Samsung Heavy Industries Technip consortium ;)
How big can you make it?
Engineers: YES
Dislike for misleading thumbnail.
Can only imagen what an accident on that would look like
What do I imagine when I hear the phrase ‘Giant Ship’ ?
Er, why we still drilling for Natural Gas? you know we can get free energy from the sun right!?
To quote Jurassic Park here… “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should”
Natural gas is used for more than just energy production, and even if it wasn't, we can't just stop using it. Not enough people are interested in wind/solar yet for it to completely replace things like coal and natural gas. We're still drilling for it because it isn't realistic yet to stop.
@@dinkledankle Thanks Dad, hey… so are the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park actually on that island or is it all just CG? 🤗
