I Was a bit taken aback by it at first too, However, in the long run those particular movies are plot focused rather than on the character’s ethnicities. In contrast, the entire movie of Moana is set around her Polynesian culture, which is very important considering that Pacific Islanders are drastically underrepresented in Hollywood. it would be very offensive to people of that culture for someone who did not share their heritage to portray them onscreen, not to mention rob Pacific Islanders, who typically do not have as many casting opportunities, of a really special chance at a big break. It’s also important to remember that many poly groups (Hawaiʻi for example) were colonized against their will and forced to assimilate so much to the point that some native languages and traditions have nearly been forgotten entirely at different points in time. Giving them the chance to connect to their culture with this film is a big deal, which is why accurate casting (and not zendaya for example even though she us amazing) is essential for this movie while more flexible for others. she’s from the island
Same!
Here's hoping they don't screw this one up!! It can be a great live action if they do it justice ❤❤
The ending got me😂😂😂😂😂
It hasn’t even been 10 years WHY DOES IT WARRANT A REMAKE??
Fking Disney man…we are literally paying for regurgitation at this point…
They are other Disney movies that deserves a live action movie like Disney princess Pocahontas.
@@puritysamuel1800they have confirm they can’t make a live action Pocahontas cause of modern issues
I think they’re making a sequel
They should make a live action Frozen, Tangled, and The princess and the frog.
@@thereal_sunseteven though i am getting tired of live actions i would look forward to princess in the frog one of my favorite movies but like why can't they just make new disney princesses instead of all these live actions

I can't wait to see the rock with hair return
THEY SHOULD GET DINAH FROM FIFTH HARMONY to be Moana she’s Polynesian and can sing so well
Idk fifth harmony members well but the original voice actress for Moana is Polynesian (from my knowledge) but they still didn’t feel like she would fit.
I'm glad that the actress wants what's right for the movie.
I'm also glad she's still going to be involved
The end voiceover is just soooo cute 😂❤
i feel like when i’m older i would look great for this live action movie because sooo many people told me i look like moana
“She explained the importance of actors looking and fitting the role of the characters.”
Little Mermaid has left the chat
Right 😂😂 she's sleepin with the fishes kmsl 😅
Yes thats exactly what I said and they also called disney racist when they figured out at first the actor for Moana was white right after they made Arial black for them, man they are doing a bad job at hiding now racist they are to white people

I don't get it- what's wrong with little mermaid
@@princessj4637they are talking about the live action remake. They casted a black woman to play the role of Ariel, who is white in the Disney original.

Dwayne wants this movie because black adam failed

I feel like Moana is going to be good and funny this time.
I thought he said “It’s Daddy Maui” and I’m lowkey here for it 👀🤭
I can't wait for the Moana movie to come out I'm so excited
Ariel's story doesn't have anything to do with race or culture, so it doesn't matter who plays her. Moana's story IS. Her culture is still such an important part to her movie and character.
What about Snow White then? And Ariel was white in the original, so it does matter.
@@antsiscan you even read?
@@antsissnow white is a human woman and a German princess, she would be white. Also she literally was not mentioned whatsoever, if you wana rage about the now not actress for live action Snow White do it somewhere it’s actually relevant.
Also Ariel’s a fish. Mermaids are not real, they could have made her blue in the live action movie and it wouldn’t matter because she’s a fish. Mermaids are not real, Germans are that’s the difference.
@@phyuckyuutuuu9653 Yes, I can read, thank you very much
@@SadHats48 That's true. I wouldn't mind if they didn't change her just to get the validation of these woke people. To be honest I don't really care if she's black, white, blue, green or purple. It's about why they cast darker skinned people for lighter skinned roles.
I watched the little mermaid and I liked it, but Disney annoys me right now.
That was my point
Moana has always been my favorite Disney movie ever since it came out. I am so excited for a live action version! ❤❤
I am so excited ❤❤
I think the Live action Moana should be tiny so Dwyane can tower over her.Zendaya is quite tall so she'd be almost Maui's height🤓.I'm not a perfectionist so I'll love Moana no matter who is is just like Ariel(Halle)❤😊
Maui or the actor is 6’4 zendaya 5’10 but they should pick a person who is a poly or of poly decent in my opinion lol
Correction 6’5 LMAOOO
@@Cu_pld Yeah totally agreed😄

Yes! She is so right for this. Characters should match there story and yet we ended up with a black ariel😢
The black Ariel played the character very well, and just what it was a character, so they can be any race of people, a fictional character.
@@Tryhardclan-ld7iqby that logic Moana is also just fiction and it shouldn't matter if someone from a different race would be casted to play her. I'm not saying she shouldn't be played by someone with her race. That's just a comparison. Meanwhile at little mermaid and snow white
Real!
Oml just shut up about it. Im tired of hearing it. Not everything gets to be the way people want it 🙄
Don’t forget black Astrid from how to train ur dragon :) oh and black cleopatra
Ariel is a fictional character who is a mermaid.. Moana is a fictional character who is Polynesian(Hawaiian) a slight difference
I don’t see what was so wrong with the little mermaid being a black actress. She was amazing! And her race didn’t have anything to do with her original storyline, so why are people so bothered😭nearly every Disney princess is white bro
HOWEVER, this is my opinion on if they were to change the race of Moana.Moana is the only Polynesian represented in Disney and her culture is a major part of her storyline. Moana always reminded me of my father as he was half Polynesian and he was the person to watch it with me and my siblings when it first came out. It taught me things about my culture I didn’t even know yet. Moana literally means ocean in my culture lol. If they change the race of Moana then they might aswell never have made a remake
I can't wait to see this movie
Lol the fact that Dwayne is bald and Maui has Lucius long locks

In the original, she actually says the F word when she supposed to say falling😅

It's about time they did a live action that kept true to the original.
Its due to them not being white. If the characters were white they would've race swapped em ages ago.

I wish instead Disney made a new unique Polynesian live action movie instead of a remake. I mean even a movie about the characters but not the same exact movie. Like a movie about how Maui became who he is or something like that? Then it would be unique.
