Once the opportunity arises, I’m out of this state. I’ve lived/visited other states which are much better. Texas being my favorite. I will most likely retire in the Philippines for the reason of family. I will travel back and forth. People move to the Philippines for its culture, people, beautiful islands and cost of living. Every country has its good and bad. Drugs, crime, poverty, etc. Sure, the Philippines has big problems with such, but the news/social media plays a deceptive impression by overplaying the topic and make it sound like the majority. Great interview. I'm with him when it comes to latina women preference being a fellow Asian (Filipino) myself. Filipinos click well with Hispanics maybe because of the shared history... and since English and Tagalog have alot shared words in Spanish it's no struggle to pick up the language. Best of luck to you both.
Great interview. Basically, sick of the woke BS in America and I can certainly relate. I’m relatively young at 42 and will be retiring in two years. It can’t come soon enough. I am planning on taking a trip there to the Philippines early next year. Makati, Palawan, and Bohol.
Good luck. I'm the age at which you plan to retire and I've been on and off "threatening" to retire this year for the past 3 years. But with recent inflation, I keep getting cold feet and thinking I'll save one more year before taking the plunge.
@@yuriyzenda5857 Haha so you're on year 3 of "one more year". That's the natural tendency I guess but life is too short to trade any more time for money. My pension alone should provide me with a comfortable living plus I have investment income on top of that. I wish you luck as well.
can you do more videos about pet friendly locations for rent??? I am just looking around and I see you have some amazing condos but would love to see more about pets too.
Yes for on line job working for outside companies out of the Philippines , yes you have a better deal living there in BGC. Rent alone you’re probably saving $2000 dollars a month of what your paying in BGC. Yeah invite more people to live there. But if you’re depending on a job base on PI I don’t think it’s possible.
Yes try working in the PI and living in an upscale neighborhood it’s impossible. You need to make US dollars. Many employers are now requiring employees to return to the office as well. If you work in a different state or country, then they could look at the market and adjust your pay, require your return, or let you go.
The comments made during the interview shown in the video are so on point when it comes to the state of affairs in US cities. Prime example is CA-San Francisco (pitiful how badly it’s declined ) and LA . His analysis is excellent with the analogy used in baking a cake. He’s not being a downer ; he spoke of facts. I live in Manhattan and NYC mimics what’s happening in other cities although not quite at the level of San Francisco. People are getting fed up with existing policies under the guise of compassion that have led to a steep rise in crime and lawlessness driving more people to leave the city not to mention the steep prices of everything. This interview was well done . Bravo 👏👏👏
As a born and raise Filipino with 2 jobs as virtual assistant living in Quezon City manila. I avoid BGC coz everything is expensive haha but it's a great place to work and live. I go there sometimes to window shop and attend activities 😂
You perhaps should have addressed time zones for digital nomads. The work days are almost reversed depending on the business time of your Western home. Separately I would like an extended discussion about dating as a single male.
I bet he's going to Buenos Aires, 500 Argentine pesos to $1 exchange rate and only a +2 hr difference to Central Standard Time. Marvelous city and awesome Steak restaurants everywhere.

Did he mention what visa he is on? That’s probably the biggest hurdle for any digital nomad. Sure you can go on travel visa for a few months but not ideal for long term. Sorry if he mentioned it but I missed it
He is an online therapist and that line of work in OC will not get him a hut here. How do I know? My daughter is in the same field. If he’s making money from Americans and living there then he is living a better life. I live in OC Newport and in a very nice and safe area. There are zero homeless people here. Irvine and Laguna beach are upscale too. Did he live in Santa Ana? Homelessness is in the low income areas here in So Cal just like the PI bur your slums are worst. Misleading. The guy moved there but he is still earning dollars to pay for his upscale cost of living in a nice area in a third world country.
You 2 guys are talking sense, yes it is true. We pinoys look white guys above from others. That's what colonization did to us, but thanks God it is slowly changing. Not 100% but I believe sooner. Thanks for your vlog
I just don’t understand why people feel the need to disparage on the US to justify moving abroad. They complain about homeless in US cities but they never mention all the slums right next door to BGC and the extreme poverty in the Philippines. Love The Philippines but there is no need to bring down other countries in order to justify your decision.
Your on point. There are very few pockets like BGC and Makati. Once you are out of there’s your are like in a combat zone. Crowded, traffic. The best of it is the people. Happy friendly and its the life and environment the know and live.
Im Mexican American, born raised in The Bay Area, out here is a mess, everyone has to be offended, everyone hates you if you love god, I visited the Philippines twice, I even stayed 3 months last year to get a feel on how to live there, personally, I can do it! I felt much more relaxed and safer!
Being Asian..its just normal to be in a place where you dont standout like a sorethumb! Choosing the Philippines is the best thing!!--- Racially speaking, aside from its Cheap here.
California is ridiculous now. Cost of living has always been issue. Drug and homelessness is crazy ridiculous. The lawlessness and car break ins in Bay Area is so bad. Leaving California. I’m moving to Philippines next week 😂
Single men travel to where the mermaids are to their liking ; where they are treated well and choices abound. Married men travel or retire to where the life is peaceful and fulfilling. Did anyone mention that most filipinos speak English as a second language. In pursuit of happiness we all have our own destiny ( destinations ) to follow. Even the rat race is a choice and desirable for some.
that is true. single men travel to place where there's a lot of mermaids to have sexual vacation. He keeps mentioning Colombia, for sure he taste A LOT of colombian women lol
Hello savvy Expat, I was wondering if you can use a iPhone 14 & 15 pro in the Philippines? I’m stuck on my iPhone 13 Pro since it’s the latest one with a Physical SIM card and plan on moving to Philippines permanently thanks. I know Southeast Asia still using physical sim cards for globe/smart.
. You would have to either purchase an IPHONE unlocked & digitally input your sim card numbers. OR - Keep your plan in US and keep it on airplane mode no data charges. You must have a good wifi plan in PI. We usd our IP 13 for 6 weeks over there without issue
You’ll be fine with the new iPhone 15 outside the US. It can take multiple eSIMs. Just get one when you get to the Philippines. Preferably get an unlocked phone. You’ll be better off.
Can you please tell that guy you're interviewing that.....even if he speaks English backwards faster than speeding bullets I still can understand him. I am Filipina, and not all people are stupid.
"....I'd like to help people here.." We appreciate your generosity. The Philippines welcomes you with open arms like a brother. The United States has so much problems, diminished family values is one absolute individualism is another. U.S. Democracy that it preaches around the world is in tatters. Gun violence is endemic from the work place to kindergarten schools. Too many wackos are armed with automatic weapons and crime is rampant. Just the other day, two juveniles in Las Vegas were arrested for deliberately running over and killing a cyclist (who happened to be a retired and former police chief in a city in Los Angeles County). That is just one among the many for 2023 alone. Lawlessness and lenient prosecution of crimes in Los Angeles and San Francisco...flash mobs etc.... yeah, you made a good decision bro to leave all these behind. The Philippines is a place where the elderly are respected and venerated. The Filipinos are friendly and hospitable people. You can attest to that by now.
I'm wondering if Columbianos pull eyes at you when they see you. Also is it safe there. I've been wanting to travel there, maybe even retire there since it's closer to US.
I am so glad this got brought up as to how most filipinos in the Philippines treat white foreigners like celebrities. Every time they walk around its more than enough to turn heads around like they saw a real unicorn. But when you look similar to them and you start speaking in english, its an insult to them and eyebrows are raised. I am pretty sure when my husband and I go back to the PH soon for a visit, this is going to be the case and it is very likely. He is white and I am filipina. But oh well. I love the Philippines regardless, we both do 😢 ❤
Culturally, the American society is crippling its citizen to become intitled and dependent to American taxpayers. I work in a healthcare environment where most people are sucking the blood of American taxpayers.... Very sad and frustrating to see some people who are not giving and trying their very best for the Country.
Im contemplating of moving my kids to grow up in the Philippines because of the values they can learn. What i don’t understand is people from california moving here in Vegas then vote the same way bringing their liberal Idea. If you move out because of bad policies why Vote the same way🤦♂️
It is feasible for you make a living and able live in the Philippines. As a nurse in the States, I wish I can do the same. I am fortunate to travel often and visit the Philippines.
watch California Insider so you would know more why people leaving the state.. most pinoys are still clueless of what is happening around them... as long as they are earning $$$!!! maybe until a crime hits them..
Very funny getting " attention" with gay guys! It happened to me when I was younger living in Manila. Thought only in the Philippines. Then stuff also happened to me in Cape Cod & Key West. Both times I was with my wife walking in tourist spots. Suddenly we were being followed by gay guys, one of them said to me from behind, hey is that your sister? Lol
I dont know what you eat or how you can only spend $1000 for food and leasure with you and your girlfriend. I know you budgeted $1000 for rent and utilities. A month .
I’m finding it difficult to understand how he can have 2 bed condo in BGC for only P40k 🤔. He’s done exceptionally well if true 👍. I lived in Makati in a studio for P30k but that was years ago. That was a good deal at the time. I could live there today for $2.5k pm. But in my visits to BGC I doubt if I could live on $2k pm with a gf there🤔. I think I would need around $3k as a single guy to live there at least.
The other day, I watched a couple hunting for a unit in BGC. They found a 14.5k pesos unit unfurnished, nice location and all. So yes, you can live $2k a month and already comfortable in BGC. But plenty of affordable units outside BGC which are also descent and you can live with $1k a month. Your dollars can go a long way in PH.
@@TFMCeb sorry but I still doubt that you would be “comfortable “. Your interpretation of “a nice location” might be very different than mine. I’ve never seen any condos available in BGC for P14.5 in a nice location but could be possible. Can you please let us know your sources of these condos. 👍
@@TFMCebI have been a resident of BGC since 2006 before it became popular. You are sadly misinformed about condo rental pricing in BGC. There are places in BGC where you can rent for P14k a month but you would have to share a 30sqm condo with a 3 other tenants. Not exactly fancy living.
A comfortable apartment/condo in BGC rents for 2600 USD. Food for lunch out is 30USD....he does not know what he's talking about! The interviewer's american english sounds very Filipino even when he claims he was born in the states. You both wish you have more money... Sounds like you both are struggling to make it here in the US
I watched one of your past videos about Baguio. You mentioned that Mindanao is full of terrorism. That’s not true Evan. Please do your research first before facing your camera and yapping about Mindanao. True, there are a few areas in Mindanao with terrorists and extremists but they don’t touch neighboring areas unless you provoke them. You should visit Mindanao first before making such a bold statement about terrorism in Mindanao. Davao, Cagayan de Oro,Iligan, Bukidnon, Gen. Santos, Saranggani, Surigao, and even Cotabato are safe . Davao City is currently developing into an international hub. Please Evan, stop making those claims. I understand you are a BGC brat but olease don’t denigrate Mindanao and its people.
I think it depends where you are in California. Maybe you’re in the low income area that’s why there’s a lot of homeless people. In my case, me & my family are happily living here for 29 years, no problem at all. Maybe you should know how to deal with life and less complaining. Complaining doesn’t go anywhere. We’re gonna visit Philippines soon! That’s a wonderful country.
I'm from San diego and it's definitely worse than orange county. The nicer areas just push out homeless people but they always come back because... it's a nice area.
People don’t understand that the majority of homeless/transients are NOT originally fromCalifornia. They’ve come all over other states and have moved to California because of its liberal policies
haha are you kidding me! ofcourse homeless people wont go to a rural area they are more into cities like downtown La, inner cities! even good rich area you n se ehomeless encapments..so ssssshussss.. it is nit about homelessness it is also about CRIME! dont complain if it comes ur way!
Undoubtedly BGC is on par with some Western cities but it is lacking in quality arts. One can't just spend all day in the malls and eat out every night. It needs some quality performing arts. Stop bashing SF and California -- in spite of the woes, thousands of the brightest minds in the world are here innovating, creating, and producing....Unlike the Philippines whose economy is consumer-based, we in California produce, create, and lead the world in technological, pharmaceutical, and agricultural production...BGC pales in comparison to SF or CA...and on another note, please don't invoke religion...it's simply not helpful...
Philippines is booming as well + English + highly westernized food and culture in general. No need to learn another language and foreigners are better treated.
Really looking white guys above... me im not, for me theres .nothing to act above more than other ,all are the same especially when itcomes to appeoaching people wether white black or asian its just like a normal thing ,well its just me i know others are not

Yes try working in the PI and living in an upscale neighborhood it’s impossible. You need to make US dollars. Many employers are now requiring employees to return to the office as well. If you work in a different state or country, then they could look at the market and adjust your pay, require your return, or let you go.
Looks like a decent guy. Good interview.
Very good interview much enjoyed.
Great information, you guys should partner up for you tube channel .
I agree with Jeff on Medellin 💯. It’s one of the reasons why I left, and I have citizenship there too.
You perhaps should have addressed time zones for digital nomads. The work days are almost reversed depending on the business time of your Western home.

Did he mention what visa he is on? That’s probably the biggest hurdle for any digital nomad. Sure you can go on travel visa for a few months but not ideal for long term. Sorry if he mentioned it but I missed it
he is there with his parents who are natural citizens so he is likely a dual citizen
@@jrent52002 i think the visa question is for jeff, the digital nomad.
I think his visa is tourist bc he mentioned he keeps travelling
He's more than likely on a tourist visa. However, I heard that the digital nomad visa will be available next month (October) in the PH.

He is an online therapist and that line of work in OC will not get him a hut here. How do I know? My
daughter is in the same field.

Nope, not me
I just don’t understand why people feel the need to disparage on the US to justify moving abroad. They complain about homeless in US cities but they never mention all the slums right next door to BGC and the extreme poverty in the Philippines. Love The Philippines but there is no need to bring down other countries in order to justify your decision.

Why is it a blue state problem? It's a USA problem.
The USA always had a big drug problem. The Philippines never had a "big" drug problem.
Hello savvy Expat, I was wondering if you can use a iPhone 14 & 15 pro in the Philippines? I’m stuck on my iPhone 13 Pro since it’s the latest one with a Physical SIM card and plan on moving to Philippines permanently thanks. I know Southeast Asia still using physical sim cards for globe/smart.
yes its launching today lmao iphone 15
@@ZushiRolls_ yes but how can I use smart/globe sim card? In US they took away the physical simcard slot.
You can use it however you have to buy the local plan.

Most Filipinos own a land in the provinces, they were there in the city because no opportunity in those places pluz laziness also.

Your videos are very informative. But how do you support your comfortable lifestyle?. You must have very well-to-do parents.

Sounds like you both are struggling to make it here in the US
Jeff, we need you in politics.
Youre a delusional woke person😂
People don’t understand that the majority of homeless/transients are NOT originally fromCalifornia. They’ve come all over other states and have moved to California because of its liberal policies
haha are you kidding me! ofcourse homeless people wont go to a rural area they are more into cities like downtown La, inner cities! even good rich area you n se ehomeless encapments..so ssssshussss.. it is nit about homelessness it is also about CRIME! dont complain if it comes ur way!

Guess its Columbia because of the women✌️ He often said "If you are single" 😂
Undoubtedly BGC is on par with some Western cities but it is lacking in quality arts. One can't just spend all day in the malls and eat out every night. It needs some quality performing arts. Stop bashing SF and California -- in spite of the woes, thousands of the brightest minds in the world are here innovating, creating, and producing....Unlike the Philippines whose economy is consumer-based, we in California produce, create, and lead the world in technological, pharmaceutical, and agricultural production...BGC pales in comparison to SF or CA...and on another note, please don't invoke religion...it's simply not helpful...
Agree! Typo BGC fails 😊
Why not Vietnam. Vietnam is booming
Philippines is booming as well + English + highly westernized food and culture in general. No need to learn another language and foreigners are better treated.
Vietnam is great as well however there’s a language barrier
