This may be one of your best ball review videos in recent history because of the clear and concise explanation of what actually causes the flat 10 and then seeing examples with actual ball reaction and movement through the pin deck. I have been explaining and showing people this phenomenon for years. Well done, sir.
I am a two hander with a very high rev rate but I really struggle with speed. I stayed away from stronger balls for the longest time. I made some release changes, staying more up the back, and the gem and now the ion max has become my go-to balls. They stay on line better simply because they dont duck hook at the end of the pattern like the weaker equipment was. The gem became one of the most versatile balls in my bag and I am really hoping this Ion will be its replacement once I get comfortable with it.
Looking for something stronger than a Nova for my daughter when patterns are 44ft plus and med to heavy volum....ball speed about 14.5 250 rpm...thoughts?
@@ThaHomieNitty_Bowls pin down will be less aggressive. By going pin down you are putting the core in a less aggressive position aka limiting the flair. As a result, the ball motion will be smoother with a less violent change of direction at the end of the pattern.
@@salvasaur I know, but I don't understand what those numbers mean. 5 what? Inches? From where? By 5 more what? Where? By 45....but again, 45 what? Inches? Angle?
Way too strong for what I bowl on at my local center. Gave up tournament bowling awhile back so I have zero need for a piece like this. Roto Grip Hyped and the 900 Global Zen are my go-to for a THS.
Sometimes a really strong ball with a weaker up the back release and high ball speed can really match up great on a house shot. Just sayin. More than one way to attack the lanes.
My local bowling alley puts down a puddle or nothing for their house shot. They claim it’s the same oil pattern but throwing the ball down the same line some nights your ball is coated in oil all night and others there’s nothing to wipe off after a throw.

Thanks JR!
the centers in my area are ancient lane surfaces so none of the gems matched up well plus my grandpa ball speed didnt help, lol great channel sir!
Would you do a pin down on that ball jr

I’m purchasing an Ion Max with my next SSA check in Oct.

Is this ball good for fresh or transportation ball when it gets dry
Fresh…definitely do recommend dry it’s a super strong solid
Do not recommend on dry **
Yep. Up the right side was exactly what Rash was doing the other day.
I went pin down and love it
What layout numbers did you go with
@@johnmonson3608 I went with 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 4
Pin down that’s more aggressive right?

Can i pair this with my 900 global xponent and my iq tour solid? Im a slower speed like 14ish and lower rev can i add this to my bag?
Now what does that mean, 5x5x45 or whatever those numbers were?
That's the layout he used to drill the ball

It doesn’t make sense to use these strong balls on house. Especially at the premium prices.
Why not? What about for new bowlers who have very low rev rates?

Depends on the house. Some house shots are very long and heavy.

You can’t swing that ball to out of bounds or play across the boards. It’s an early mid lane ball. Not flippy.
