Thanks Aaron! This is just what I was looking for., wide frequency range without shrinking my wallet. Great demonstration as well. I just placed an order.
Thanks - got it ordered! perfect for my needs! Saw this used on the Phaseplant demonstration and they referred me here-!. And as it added bonus, I am watching your other vids and so grateful.
Thanks Aaron, such a great find! I just got mine and while it depends on the source material on harmonically rich sources like the human voice it's absolutely amazing... No need to buy a monster lib ever again haha!
This is out of this world. I have always dreamt of having a sanken, but this is incredible. Definitely want to pick this up for my lil r-07 since micro usiis are impossible to get. Absolutely incredible find
@jacobisalemon don't know if you're already on the mailing notification list for LOM Audio but if not I recommend it. I always got the mics I wanted by ordering right after when new batch is out. The mailing notification always worked for me, got my Uši Pro pair, the Priezor and Geofón that way
Awesome find! Thanks. Bit of a tip that's in the low-budget spirit- I've found an old forum post where a guy repurposed pencil erasers (the long triangular kind) into makeshift shock mounts for a similar mic. Might be worth looking into!
That’s fantastic! I’ve been working on a macro video project lately and trying to do some super-tight close-up “macro” audio (watch ticks etc). I could’ve really done with this microphone! I made a kind of junky solution with a band-pass and a frequency shifter - essentially just copying the highest frequencies up an extra octave or two - but as you can imagine it’s not a perfect organic result. Especially on more tonal sounds. I think I’m gonna buy me one of these! :) Thanks! /George
One more question, dear Aaron! Do you ever consider using SpectraLayers instead of (or in addition to) RX? Noting that I'm about to invest in the hefty priced RX11 version upgrade, my eye is wandering....
I tried it once, but am so familiar with rx I didn't need it. Found RX better. Also didn't think rx11 was worth the upgrade and usually lag a few versions behind.
Sounds fantastic. Any ideas to get this in an enclosure or otherwise make it easier to position or mount? It looks a little precarious in its native rattail form. Seems like a stereo pair would be great for a binaural head.
That's a great question. I don't have a good mount, but please let me know if you find one. My current plan is to use this with my MKH50/30 rig in the center and blend it for ultrasonic options and omni pattern fun. For that it doesn't need an enclosure.
RX adapts to the source material for the view. If you make a new 192khz file in rx you should see up to 96khz. You may want to right click and change the scale to bark for a more even distribution with ultrasonic files :)
@@aaronbrownsound. Silly me. I was trying to record a sample first in halion, and then simply drag the sample into RX. When I recorded directly into rx everything was obvious and simple. Thanks so much for all your help. I love your UA-cam channel.
Do you need anything other than the mic and the xlr converter? On the site it says "Requires capsule and cable to be supported." Maybe that means physically supported?
wait so would a mic input on my motu M4 work. is there any solutions you've found that is available on Amazon or as one bundle instead of the multiple purchases you listed.
I don't think I made that point, but yeah the Sanken is much better for pros and different technology. This video just tries to point out you can achieve ultrasonic recording for sound design without needing the $2500 option, even though the $2500 option is far superior :)

I never would have heard about this if not for you and I was about to sell my kidney for that Sanken. My kidney thanks you🙏
Thank you a lot! I almost lost the hope about ultrasonic sound, because LOM isn't avalible... Now I really inspired and want to try this thing out

Awesome! Hope you love it too :) Thanks for the kind message.
Amazing microphone and a great demonstration of these differences. I'm blown away. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks! It surprised me too. Happy to hear it's useful.
Great videos Aaron! what's that skin you're using for reaper? (also pls do an RX tutorial for the ultrasonic cleanup 😆)

Excellent! I dream of Sankens too, but this will do for now (And maybe forever at $2500!).

Thank you for making this comparison video! I'm definitely going to get one now so I can finally stop worrying about not having a sanken
Sweet! Enjoy the $2450 savings :)
Holy crap man incredible!! I see they have matched pairs - strongly considering building a stereo pair to have handy - So many ideas!
Awesome find! Thanks.

Good tip! I'll check that out. I may try the mikrousi clips as well given the diameter may be the same :)
im glad ive seen this. I can't catch a LOM drop to save my life anymore. luckily got the electro usi and priezor before they blew up
Killer. Ordering now

Sounds like a perfect fit! Glad to hear it's useful info :)
Wow thank you!! That's amazing!! What preamp are you using? I know not all preamps are going over 20k.
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Simple question but it’s got me stymied: how did you set RX to read above 20 K?

Didn't need more than that here. I imagine they mean it needs to be used with gear that supports the frequency range?

I just found a purpose in my life, which was to make some money and buy Sanken co-100k. Now, I have no purpose again and depressed.
Haha, well if you ever have $2500 burning a whole in your wallet it's certainly an upgrade!
6:48 what is that spring sound?
That’s a jaw harp with the metal pieces connecting and rattling.
@@aaronbrownsound oh nice thanks i already have a glazyrin lighthouse i need to try this
Nyquist frequency? Sample rate of your recordings?
Sample rate of 192 here.
"Shut up and take my money!"
WOW. :O
I think I'm going to sell my Sanken now. It's so hard to justify keeping it !
If only they were $600 instead of $2500!
People with both have told me the sanken still wins and has better extension and clarity. Have you compared?
@@aaronbrownsound I would like to get one when they come back in stock and do a shoot out with the Sanken, maybe post them in video format !
@@oddconcoction5162 that would be cool to see and hear!
I have a Sanken and it sounds nothing like the 258. However, for the price, the 258 does a pretty good job.
Which recording device did you use with the microphones?
RME Fireface 800. Still going after all this time and does well with ultrasonic material.
@@aaronbrownsound thanks!
The Sanken has nothing to do with the 258 : ua-cam.com/video/hcP2KthkAW4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=PrincipleSound
