    Great positive motivation and encouragement. But easiest way to get retired in India is go to USA work for 10 years do proper savings return back and get settled in our country.

    • @techknowledgestuff
      @techknowledgestuff 3 роки тому +8

      Yes. This works. Worked in US for 6 years. Made some good money in company stock.
      This strategy works for simple folk who can manage to come back and live in India. You will have all the freedom in the world.
      Now having a second career in a different field and doing well.

      Don’t know how much is good money? I came for my masters in usa when 21 years, started earning at 25, and I’m 35 now. Certainly have saved money but can’t say it’s great money. For me, if earning in usa for 10 years, or good money to return back to India, one should be able to buy a 5 Cr villa in ECR comfortably with hot cash. Certainly don’t have that much saved.

    @vijay mohan sir, I find something missing here. If we accumulate the 25X of Annual expenses of today, it would be wrong, You should apply the inflation to the networth you would end up accumulating too, for eg, if you are 40 years old now and planning to retire in 15 years, and your annual expenses are 10L today then your network(liquid assets) cannot be 2.5Cr. Your annual expenses in 15 years from now would be 22.6L by applying 6% of inflation, so 25X of that would be 5.6Cr. So that should be your net worth.

    One thing to add is that it's not realistic to assume same rate of return throughout your lifetime. You might be OK to take more risks early on but not when you have no other source of income. So instead of leaving one big corpus you can go for income laddering and split it into different buckets each running for a specific time and targeting specific ROI. Calculating a proper annual expense is the biggest challenge for FIRE. This is because different expenses grow at different rates.. like for example Insurance premiums grow non linearly with age but daily household expenses grow more predictably.. If you're thinking of FIRE then I would recommend doing a dry run for at least 5 years and diligently documenting how you do financially to understand how well you know yourself! Good luck and take care.

With zerodha it is offline process and with Kuvera they used to say to close all existing and start new NRI account where we will loose old Investments. Will this conversion works in same way for OCI card holders also as they will renounce Indian citizenship? Thank you for your other explanations too.

    QQ - Wouldn't the net worth change drastically if we were to account for the inflation adjusted annual expenses during retirement? The example of 10L per year is relevant only if you are going to retire now but let's say if you want to retire in 15 years, then you would need at least 27.59L per year which will drastically change the net worth required. Is my understanding correct sir?

    If one’s networth in liquid assets alone, can generate a income (with bank FD interest itself), that covers ones basic expenses, then that also can be considered as financial freedom. As he need not worry too much to make ends meet in his life. Ppl may ask about inflation, but since interest income is passive, one will definitely have enough time and energy to find ways to generate some income back and return to investing. So financial independence is kind of back up one should have at anytime, to feel safe. Assuming no debt of course!!

    Hello Vijay sir thanks for the detailed explanation I have a doubt, after achieving 50x and if I keep all the money in bond which will give 8% annual return, is there any risk? Kindly suggest thanks

      Bond rates fluctuate too. And the risk is high inflation. But as long as your return rate after taxes beats inflation, you are good.
      Try using the google sheet in description and provide values 50x, 8% return rate and 7% inflation and you can see the results for yourselves.

    Need to see how this fits in an Indian context. How medical costs and insurance difffer between the two countries. Also there would be rental income in most households after retirement. Even in some cases, the parents are taken care by kids or they support them financially...Can't apply directly

      Adjust it to your needs. It is not meant to cover all possible scenarios. It is meant to give a guidance on what to account for.

      I am not familiar with Indian brokerages to make any comment there. Check other channels for that.

    Good calculator. But have you taken into account fees for portfolio management? That might change things a lot.
