You're 100% right but it was such a sudden change for ITZY, and that's why it was so disappointing for most fans. Almost the same thing happened with BTS and their song Boy With Luv! Before BWL, they had more strong and "aggressive" songs like IDOL or Mic Drop, and to go from those to a sudden soft and more pop-sounding concept can be off-putting for fans. It definitely was off-putting for ARMY, and the same happened with MIDZY. Considering that, I can understand why fans were so upset. I think people automatically hated it because the teasers were REALLY different. In the teasers they were wearing beautiful ballgowns and tiara’s, so everyone was hyped for a royalty concept (which had never been done before). Only for them to reveal the song Sneakers with ugly neon mismatched clothes and stuff and the song was not at all what fans expected💀
