I have seen her in concert a few times...and she is wonderful and an absolute joy to listen to sing and her stories are wonderful. Love me some Shawnie :-)
I remember her playing her music in the clubs Like Merlins down at Southern Illinois University during the early to mid 1970's. I was a music major there at the time too. Even Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows were another group that became big. Good years back then that produced excellent musicians. She is living proof.
Colvin always so gifted, but this is the first clip I have seen from "Nightmusic" in years!! It was the absolute hippest music show on TV in those days, I wonder if a person could get a boxed set of the episones...there was stunning performances on that show!
Thanks so much for posting this. The first I ever heard of Shawn was around this time with her performance at the "Hitchhiker Music Hour" and I was hooked.
I've been playng the album version of this song averagely three times per week since 1994 aside round of blues from Fat city. (and once a week the whole both records) It's the first time I listento this wonderful version, thank you!
I remember this show, and "Sessions At West 54th Street" and many others like these. What happened to all these great shows? She did a cover of the Beetles "I'll Be Back" on Letterman (I think) in '04 or early '05. Its maybe the best song I have ever heard her play.
I only just now stumbled on this artist through a comment to one of my posts. I have taken the bait hook line & sinker....an immediate fan who wants to hear more of her music! Does she tour the west coast much? NW ?
Wow! A great song ordinarily made even more wonderful in this performance (plus, who in their right mind would 'thumbs down' this?!! Were they high or something?).
We love throwback Shawn Colvin! Check out an exclusive backstage interview with Shawn from 1999! ua-cam.com/video/EQjyQQ8j1T0/v-deo.html What is your favorite Shawn Colvin song?
I saw Shawn last year in Ghent (Belgium) and this is also amazing. One of the best singers in the universe!! Realy
Great song! Thanks for the post.

God Almighty, what have you done to us...to put her before us this way? What of our hearts? God, did you give no thought to our hearts?
what a doll she is when she's fired up! great energy in this performance...

This is a wicked tight set, and jazzy which is new perspective for me on this number. Ms. Colvin you go girls!!!!
