If Americans knew how tariffs or the economy really works, they'd see how truly scary this con man is. He will say anything that will gain him support. And to cut ourselves off from trading with the rest of the world is insane!!! Prices would skyrocket, and access to the majority of items would become unavailable. I know you think they sound good, but really, any tariff (tax) you put on an imported good is just going to pass the price onto you making it really expensive or unattainable. In the end, that country's not going to pay; you will!! On top of that, they're going to put retaliatory tariffs on us, which means the products we export they will no longer buy or they'll buy far, far less, costing our businesses and manufacturers billions of dollars and thousands of jobs, maybe hundreds of thousands of jobs depending how far conny trump pushes it. He is not a businessman he's bankrupted 7 businesses he's a con man who is good at fooling people

@@Seniorsneaky123China was our biggest market for exporting dairy and pork. trump's tariffs took care of that, and China retaliated with many of their own tariffs, including dairy and pork. Which ended up costing us trump then gave a bailout to our farmers for 28 billion dollars for lost revenue. So when Trump says they don't buy our dairy he is solely responsible for that

Exactly but most Americans here in the states believe that doing so would make things more expensive. Which it will, but as more American production begins prices will go down and then foreign made products will be used less while American made products will be the popular choice. Overall it helps Americans because those companies who want to tap into the American market will either have to pay or pay to build factories here which in turn creates more jobs.

    • @robertlang3624
      @robertlang3624 2 місяці тому +28

No, because tariffs are a tax on goods that the consumer pays, not the country or company that’s producing. The only effect it has is to put up the price in the US market which may mean you’re reluctant to buy it, but let’s say you’ve bought a foreign car a tariff will mean any parts you might need will be more expensive, and trying to sell the car on will be more difficult as very few people will want to buy it. OK so you say I’ll buy American made products, but even some of the parts for those products are imported, so it will put those prices up too.
American companies source products and parts from other parts of the world because it’s cheaper, and the cost savings get passed on to you the consumer. The world is now interdependent on other countries to produce products. If he puts on tariffs to stop manufacturing elsewhere, then the people in Mexico will come into the US in even greater numbers if there is nowhere for them to work, now there’s a thought.

When tarrifs are high they have to make an economic decision. Build in that country or lose out on all of America which is the largest consumer base in the world. It's very simple. Most smart businessmen and women know this and will choose to build in the USA because they don't want to lose us as customers. It's very simple. Also when more companies build here, prices will actually drop plus there will be more jobs.

But President Bill Clinton got the job growth in the United States done. How? President Bill Clinton got congress to raise taxes on the wealthy. The Republicans said it would destroy the economy, but it didn't. What happened was the value of the dollar went down around the world because the Federal Reserve was able to lower interest rates without the fear of inflation. The budget deficit went down and the trade deficits went down because the dollar was weaker and companies could compete again. Then in the years 1999/2000 the US had a balanced budget. Letting the trump tax cuts expire is a good thing for the US economy, interest rates can go back down and the manufacturing jobs can come back to the United States.
3 Republican Presidents, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush and trump had a net gain of 1 million jobs in the US economy.
3 Democrat Presidents, Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama and Joe Biden had a net gain of 50 million jobs in the US economy.

    1) Motivate countries to make their products in the USA to provide much needed jobs here.
    2) Use strategic tariffs as bargaining chips to force better trade agreements and business relationships.
    3) Wanting other countries in NATO that we defend to pay for the services provided and eliminate the Russian pipeline that funds Putin and makes him more war capable.

Lots of US companies have products made outside the US, this keeps them competitive but also means they can offer a cheaper version therefore expanding their customer base, if Trump puts on a tariff those products will go up in price and could put some companies out of business.

It's pretty obvious who has the brains to lead and negotiate for America. Anyone who doesn't have hate in their heart for Trump can see Harris could never ever interview and give such details about how to negotiate. Trump knows The secret to making Tariffs work is knowing what your competition needs and wants. If they can't go without them they will pay. Trump knows this. He's been playing the game all his life. One of the best negotiator we've seen. Even the main stream media knew it when they wanted his show "The Apprentice" to air year after year. He told them after the last year, no more of "The Apprentice" and that did piss them off. Which is when the tide changed from loving Trump to hating Trump. Then all the fools who are brain dead and go home to watch TV to wind down got brain washed and believe whatever they watched. You know I'm right unless you're a person who does more with there free time than watch TV.

A lot of manufacturing was moved to 3rd world countries decades ago (cheaper labour) which allowed more Americans to buy things which ultimately meant more profits for US companies. Western consumers got used to the lower prices. In order to get these back to the US where wages are higher, prices will increase dramatically and less people will be able to afford things. And profits will drop and stocks will fall. These companies should never have been allowed to start factories in 3rd world countries.

Imo, President Trump, with years of business experience around the world, would be the best choice as President of the USA! He is about protecting the Constitution, it’s flag, freedoms, and the people…in essence, making America greater, far safer by closing the border to illegal entrants (whom many are thugs, terrorists, and criminals representing at least 180 countries), and less taxed …and so much more!
By contrast, VP Kamala Harris is following a globalist marxist agenda of dismantling countries with Constitutions, thus the open border policy (which Hillary Clinton talked about during debates with Donald Trump in 2016).
Americans, like Trump, love their country! Kamala and her supporters, including mainstream news propagandists can label sane common sense Americans in derogatory terms such as misogynists, racists, nazis, etc but, the majority who will vote are hardworking common sense people, regardless of race. They are supporting Trump who has a 4 year record of 1.9% inflation, lower fuel and energy costs, closed border to illegals (less crime), lower housing and food costs, more prosperity, and much more! Trump will make way for better food quality, less health costs as drug prices go down and the healthcare system gets reformed,…in general, making America greater in every sphere of life!
It’s a choice of life if you vote for Trump, or death if you support Harris! Just look at the mess they’ve created in their policies under the current Biden administration!

In the theory of international trade, there is the practice of the optimal tariff which, in the case of a large country in the sense of economic theory, allows this country to benefit from the imposition of a customs duty. The USA is a large country in the sense of economic theory in many activities. D. Trump is therefore right, and his interviewer should brush up on his economics (in particular the analysis of the effect of a customs duty in the case of a large country, because it validates the relevance of protectionism as an economic policy tool). Implicitly, no doubt in order to promote multilateralism and international trade, we adopt the small country hypothesis, which is relevant for most countries but not for the United States in general. A small country is always penalised by a tariff (domestic prices rise and domestic consumers suffer). The interviewer seems to be making the same mistake as K. Harris in his debate against D. Trump when it comes to assessing the effects of a tariff. Trump's supply-side policy with its accompanying measures is entirely coherent and in the interests of the American middle class.

  • @robdoms45123

Here’s an ABC on tariffs folks. When we put tariffs on cars we import our trade partners also put counter tariffs on things we export overseas. So our products become also uncompetitive. If we can’t sell our products overseas then we have to make less. Making less means we don’t need to employ as many workers (job loses). Products we make and sell only here all of a sudden will be more expensive (due to higher labour and part cost plus low volumes). This makes these local companies less profitable. What happens to less profitable businesses?????

    • @pongpong123able4

Too bad, other countries stand to lose more because America has the biggest market and their business will suffer if they can't access the American market. Besides, china and other countries, including European countries have set up barriers against American products without america doing anything to retaliate, thus forcing American businesses to leave America and move offshore. Now america is self-conscious of what is going on and Trump will be it's retribution

As it turns out, the trade deficit is absolutely massive in the United States and we have by far the largest consumer market globally, as large as the next 5 economies behind us combined (if you count the entire EU as a single economy).
When we talk about large abstract concepts like the economy there are going to be many specific examples where tariffs improve the economy massively and many where it doesn't, but based on the two previous data points I've mentioned it can quite conclusively be said that counter tariffs on our goods will not matter nearly as much as you propose.
The most concerning thing about the Trump admin. tariffs is the potential for the consumer to front the bill for all the companies moving their production into the US. This is almost certainly what will happen, but the Trump admin. also proposes increase natural resource production to offset things like energy costs. This should counteract the raise in prices in the short term until things stabilize again over the next few years.
The benefit of course is that after it stabilizes again the US job market will increase massively and the quality of many products will rise as a result of slave labor from other countries like China being replaced by labor from the US market. This could also easily lead to a higher level of legal immigration due to the increase in job quantity.
It's a gamble, but a very educated one based on the unique situation the United States sits within the world economy.
