Nathan Fillion was the perfect actor for this role. I loved the entire cast for the series and the movie 👍🍻.

I thought it was absolutely perfect casting of Nathan Fillion in Castle. Entertaining, quirky, funny and is wealthy but liked to spend it on castmates. He was very giving especially when it was a surprise. I'm still perplexed as to why Nathan and Stana despised each other which I believe caused the abrupt ending of the series. Dedicated viewers who watched every episode don't like hearing.😔😯

I doubt it was that they despised each other. That was the media's take on it. My guess is that she wanted to move on and that is why her contract took the longest in the last season to get signed while Nathan was all for signing and continuing on. The stories turned that into drama that wasn't there AFTER the show ended.

During the first season, Stana was supposedly being a real diva on set and Nathan let her have it. I'm not sure how accurate the quote is, as the words seem way too harsh for Nathan to say, but, I don't know him personally, so, it's not my call to make.
      www.crazydaysandnights.net/2009/07/blind-items-revealed_9603.html
Minus the quote, this story consistently showed up in google searches and was hinted about on Castle websites. Chances are, this encounter soured their professional relationship, and after eight season she, or maybe even he, had enough and wanted it to close. I mean it was a fantastic show, but, eventually you set the bar so high and cannot ever top the previous season. That and the other actors likely wanted to explore other prospects.

According to a director friend who directed several episodes of Castle, their friction came from the fact that Stana liked to rehearse and prepare as much as possible whereas Nathan like to go more off the cuff, which frustrated her. Basically it stemmed from both having different ways of approaching the craft.

Which just boils down to the media making it a bigger thing than it actually was. At the end of the day all explanations lead to the media creating a stir over nothing that serious.

I don’t think they despised each other all the time, there are far too many photos, films, panels, BTS stuff that show them having fun, especially first 5 or 6 seasons. Artistic differences can chip away at any artistic relationship, well different views of how to achieve a task can chip away at any work relationship to be fair. I don’t believe the media for one minute about how Nathan bullied Stana, what I know of him he just isn’t that character - serious about his job, yes, bully no. Stana, from what I know of her, is someone who will & does stand up for herself. It’s easy to see how those personalities could clash, if you follow them both on social media you’ll know just how different their personalities are - yet both have similar core values just different ways of achieving those. I can imagine some real hum dingers of arguments, I have them with certain colleagues of mine - we want the same final result yet have wildly different ways of getting there as we see the main priorities in a different order for task management. For Nathan a lot of his acting style is spontaneous, off the cuff it’s how he can achieve the authentic air of real time humour, rehearsal is needed though room for spontaneity is needed so can’t always be millimetre perfect. If Stana is a very rehearsed person who wants to know every single detail down to the last minute detail then both will irritate each other to the point of destruction - yet both are valid approaches to the task.

To be fair, the incredibly Sensitive Joss Whedon, which _can_ be abbreviated, does have a little bit of a blind spot to rationality when it comes to the social politics of men and women, at least from what I've seen and heard, putting the latter up a little to readily on a pedestal. How level-headed he is compared to the SJ ilk, I don't know, since anyone canniblised by their own and forced to flee twitter must on some level have been encouraged to self-assess. The lovies, not just in Hollywood, do tend to fall prey to prejudice and emotional arguments rather easily, perhaps even more easily the majority of the human race, which is itself very emotional, and a group within which everyone can find themselves, from time to time, sometimes becoming radicalised.
