  • Simple Sirui L-20S tilthead hack for monopod use.
I modified my Sirui L-20S tilthead for monopod use to save my fingers and my equipment by limiting the movement angle from -90°/+°90° to -45°/+45°. More than enough for wildlife and birds. You could even limit only one side if you wish.
I used the Leofoto MPG-1 (the Wimberley MH 100 copy) and didn't like the weight offset. When your monopod is on the ground it's OK, but when you lift it up with one hand it tilts left or right and puts a lot of stress on your wrist. The 360° flip is also pointless to me.

That's a nice hack. One reason that this head can be useful at the extremes is for video. It allows you to use the head in combination with a monopod, like you would a gimbal.

@@sidvicious3129 Thx for your reaction. Of course you can allways remove the limiters for certain jobs. That’s why I use plastic ones; they don’t scatch the metal of the head.

Nice idea, I really like that. As you say, easy to remove for those occasional weird & wonderful shots. Next stop, the hardware store 🙂

Or just keep your fingers out of the way. This has never happened to me.

And you shoot in this position? I’m impressed.
