I'm 59 and recently took up crochet it's very relaxing. I've always wanted to learn and people have tried to show me but I could never catch on. After watching a few UA-cam videos I was able to learn and I love it. Your mother should be proud of you for teaching other's who knows you may write a book about it one day. A young lady who knits wrote a book about knitting she even knitted her wedding dress it was beautiful. ❤️
People don't understand how GOOD crochet and knitting is for the brain, heart, nerves and blood pressure...not to mention the wonderful things that come out of it. Stay healthy and enjoy creating every single day!
I’m almost 64 I’ve been crocheting since I was 10. It’s a great hobby stress reliever calming and enjoyable. It’s also a shame it’s not taught in the schools anymore. I sub at our high school the kids are too busy with their cell phones to do anything else these days.

You are not wasting your time when you are doing something creative which btw also puts your brain cells to good use. The skill you have learned will last you a lifetime. I learned to crochet at 17 years of age and am still doing it 51 years later!

I'd put that on a terra cotta pot and make it look like a cacti, pin cushion. So Cool. Tell your mom anything made by had is made with love and very worth it.
Your mom doesn't know what she's talking about. You do you and keep crocheting. This was a great idea and, if you had the lid to the jar, you could glue the cactus onto the lid, and decorate that with the lace band, so you can screw the jar shut and not risk spillages! I might have to make one of these for all my bits and pieces.

I live with pain and anxiety because of pain. Your videos are very calming, sometimes watching you crochet helps me fall asleep. Crocheting with you helps me focus and concentrate.
