the writing is so bad, that when Sol kills the mother, the audience is too confused to know that Sol was intended to be in the wrong lol.
No, the mother is evil incarnate. So evil that she used her dying breath to gaslight him… that kind of malicious intent originates from the writer, not the character.
This whole thing sounds like the writer is crying out for help. Someone in the writer's life took advantage of their selflessness, and to break out of those kinds of toxic relationships, you need to embrace some selfishness. However, the writer hasn't dealt with the trauma, to the point where they now see all selflessness as disingenuous and evil.

Disney didn't let them put the Acolyte on the air - they paid for it, they pushed for it, they fought for it. It's exactly what they wanted. It wasn't made to be entertaining. It wasn't made for fans. It was made to push "the message".

Catching this on the replay, and you guys' opening reactions tell me I made the right choice, watching the convention in Milwaukie instead. In fact, it sounds like I'd be better off watching ANY thing else, including paint drying or grass growing or even mold forming on a stinky pond... :p

Osha’s heel turn is no surprise. People like KK and Headland take everything, and give nothing back. It’s a trait we see in all KK’s output. The only one to avoid it was Jyn Erso and ROne is among the few watchable films LF produced early… before the dark times.

theory/hypothesis: (disclaimer: I haven't seen the series - just going by all the reviews)
Mother Koril became the dark cloud, then became Darth Plagueis. Koril/Plagueis created the life out of nothing aka Osha & Mae (reference to Ep3:RotS). Koril/Plagueis took an apprentice Qimir, who became Darth Sidious/Palpatine. This is how Qimir/Sidious/Palpatine knew about the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise. Qimir/Sidious/Palpatine killed Koril/Plagueis in her/their sleep (ref. Ep.3:RotS). Qimir/Sidious/Palpatine marries Osha and has the granddaughter Rey Palpatine (ref Ep.9:tRoS).
I guess Qimir/Sidious/Palpatine was supposed to be the eponymous "acolyte", as Leslye wanted to write about Sith because she "identifies" with them. Apparently, Kathleen asked Leslye to change story to be more "personal", so she focused the season 1 on Osha/Mae, hence the season 1 is so disjointed. This could be why others died, but not Qimir.
Vernestra and Yoda covered up the whole incident. But they were not directly involved, so they didn't know that Sidious/Palpatine was Qimir.
Qimir/Sidious/Palpatine wanted to destroy the Jedi because they destroyed the witch coven and killed Mother Aniseya.
Qimir was initially trained by Vernestra, but apparently, she was cruel to him, so he sought out another master - Darth Plagueis. With common cause - to destroy the Jedi - Koril/Plagueis trained Qimir, until Qimir's ambitions grew to rule the galaxy altogether.
Darth Plagueis was wise, because she was a woman. Darth Sidious was (in)Sidious, because he was a man.
Thank God it’s over.
The show has all the tell-tale signs of a director with no formal education in the field they're working in.
I also totally disagree with John. "Making something" is no reason to award points. Given the AccaLite quality, making it should have subtracted points. I myself would give this show - infinity.

Since Headland said in several interviews that the story touches her and her sister's backstory, I presume she projected her sister's rejection of her lesbianhood as an incitement by their mother to get her back to the straight side, her father figure after leaving the family turned out to be a creepy possessive old man and society brainwashed her sister after some tries to reunite to forget her fully...
This is speculation of course, but hey, it seems plausible.

The BBC’s “Heil Honey I’m Home” was superior to “The Acolyte”, and in better taste. I did not think anything could be as tacky, as ill-considered, and as offensive as that BBC atrocity, but Lealye Headland proved me wrong.

Sooo... I have one question/thought... If this is a show that is supposed to be completely from the perspective of the sith, the jedi being the bad guys would be the point made in their mind.

If we were reading this as a novel, all thoughts, opinions, perspective would be from the sith justifying themselves and why they're beyond deceived, twisted, skewed in the way they think.
The twist of this season is, "Occupational Safety and Health Administration is the acolyte not May." The problem is with this show (among many other things) is they did not have a solid story laid out, they at best had an idea. That they would use to write individual scenes. So it changes by the scene based on how that writer feels the story should go when writing that scene.
Season one was 'Occupational Safety and Health Administration fall to the darkside.' She, in theory, goes from, "a person that had complete faith in the jedi to falling into the darkside once realizing their lies." Problem is, this is poorly explored, then replaced because women on staff wanted to see Discount Kylo Ren naked, but ended with the original story plan. With barely any set up; the pay off falls flat.
Next season will be...in theory discount Kylo Ren training Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Plagus came out of a cave after killing his master , His master made a critical mistake after yousing essence transferral and became trapped in the cave as a force ghost to relive that moment for eternity or at least that is where the book left it.
Darth Tenebrous, who trained Damask-now Plagueis-in the ways of the Sith. The apprentice murdered Tenebrous in 67 BBY so it does not fit the timeline but that hasent stopped them before so go figere.

Well, the idea that the writers is villainous is inaccurate. They're just sh*t. If there are villains, it's the board that let them flush down $180 million. Then again, I wonder how much of that $180 million went to the 'producers.' If that's the case, one can see they got the money and so don't have to care.
They are villainous in their character. The ideas they embrace are evil.
180M is what they spent on this reshooted iteration of The Acolyte. However add what they spent originally and we get to the original cost of 400M. If this is the good version of the show then I can only imagine how bad the original cut was, in terms of story telling and narrative.

FFS and pardon my non wordsmith language - Quimir killed armed Jedi in combat - who attacked first - at a ratio of 7 to 1 (!). Except for Yord. And that was after Sol challenged him with words that also were not on wordsmith level. Sol lost it frequently and that is the baggage he had. And that thing with losing it and causing mayhem, that's Canon. Anakin lost it over his mother and it was a step towards the dark side. Then he lost it over Padme and we know what happened. Sol is sort of a precursor. On a smaller level, of course. So that thing is Canon, very much so. And next time you talk about murdering armed warrior monks in combat do that when you are talking about US troops Say it. Say they murdered armed soldiers and you will find out (quickly) how that works. The show is a precursor to the prequels. How do you think did the Jedi ended up where they ended up and messed up the thing with Anakin?
