LYRICS
Parties
I used to love to party in the old days
Heartbeat
I used to have one of them too
Now I find
I’ve picked up problems
From loves of mine
Who swear they ain’t got em
Everything fun falls apart and leaves me here
Mourning
No one at this party knows I’m mourning
19
Or anyone that wasn’t self aware
I walk to fill my glass with ice and I
Watch myself from an aerial height
Everything fun falls apart and leaves me here
Licking my lips and doing crimes
It was over in a minute
By quarter to nine
Where everything lost was gained in time
But where are your kids tonight?
Shaking my hips and cutting lines
Feels a little passé now
Shoulda cherished my wine and
All of those friends who I thought were fine oh
Where are your kids tonight?
Where are your kids tonight?
Lonely
I didn’t know good choices make you lonely
And bad ones
Bad ones only make you disappear
I think it's time I choose the latter
Cuz nothing lasts
So nothing matters
Everything good falls apart and leaves me here
Licking my lips and doing crimes
It was over in a minute
By quarter to nine
Where everything lost was gained in time
But where are your kids tonight?
Shaking my hips and cutting lines
Feels a little passé now
Shoulda cherished my wine and
All of those friends who I thought were fine oh
Where are your kids tonight ?
Where are your kids tonight?
I can feel It slip away
That last sweet shred of stupidness
My Mammy’s old mistakes
Are losing their elusiveness
It’s 1988
I can see her
I can hear her singing
Licking my lips and doing crimes
It was over in a minute
By quarter to nine
Where everything lost was gained in time
But where are your kids tonight?
Shaking my hips and cutting lines
Feels a little passé now
Shoulda cherished my wine and
All of the friends who I thought were fine oh
Where are your kids tonight?
Where are your kids tonight?
Where are your kids tonight?
Where are your kids tonight?
Where are your kids tonight?
Where are your kids tonight?

If you both wanted to do a whole album together don’t let anyone stop you.
Yes!!
Yes please!
Definitely! Its one of those duets where their voices perfectly compliment each other.
they would be fab together the harmony is so fab....Goodluck Guys..Great song...
We're waiting...
I'm so grateful to be living in the same timeline as CMAT.
CMAT played a banger of a gig in Dublin last night. John Grant made a guest appearance. Superb.
The second time you hear this song you think it's a years-old classic. Then you realise it's not even a year old.
This is my favourite song from this year by far. Listened to it countless times.
Me too.
Good God, this is an instant classic. Should have millions of views. What a gem.
One of the best songs I've heard in years! Such a tune!
Love this song. Am I supposed to say that, I am 67 years old and have listened to CMAT's other songs. Love your music.
I'm 66 and a massive Frank Zappa fan ... love this too!
Your voices complement each other wonderfully, another CMAT hit I fear!
There’s a wonderful nostalgic feeling running through this song. Reminds me musically of the bands of the 70s, particularly Fleetwood Mac. Brings me back in time to my childhood. Music is the best
I have been absolutely addicted to this song since first hearing it two weeks ago. I’m buying all of their albums right now. Holy crap is this good.
Late to the party clearly but this is truly sensational.
The sublime john grant with the brilliant Cmat 👏
Rare that a video and song combination speaks to my very soul. This is adult me asking why my single mum would abandon my sister and I while she went clubbing in the 1980s and her responding with query of where my family is, one I never had for personal and business reasons. Both of our sacrifices and blaming and faults writ large here. CMAT and John Grant, you’ve taken my breath away…
CMAT is truly one of the best things about life today. And impossibly she keeps delivering classics. What an absolute star ❤❤
You both compliment each others voices. One of the best songs in quite some time. Very nostalgic feel also.
Recently discovered CMAT, I'm obsessed with their style. I can feel the nostalgic, the simplicity full of emotions.
Their?
enjoying the Toast of London energy of this
Omg just copped it was John grant who was singing with CMAT! 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I was just busy obsessing over CMAT. I love this song and didn’t notice… I’m actually crying with delight.
There is magic in the way their voices harmonise.
Love this!! I get melancholic in an warm and comforting way, tears and goosebumps find their way to my surface.
This has got to be one of the best songs I've heard in years, never heard of CMAT before but this is brilliant!!!
These lyrics are poetry, she’s done it again folks
Just discovered CMAT via John Grant. She is clearly an incredible and original. Excited to explore more of her work. She reminds of the artist Self Esteem in certain ways.
Major “I Know Him So Well” vibes! And I am here for it!!!❤
Just found out about four seconds ago CMAT is Irish.
What an honour. Wow.
Holy moly...i just heard this on radio 2. Was instantly hooked, mesmerized, gob smacked. Never quite heard anything like it...nostalgic but so different. Totally love it - came straight here to check for more. Praying she's on Spotify. Can't wait to hear more! ❤
Beautiful. JG is one of my musical heroes. ❤ And that look he does at "bad ones... bad ones only make you disappear"...there is a man who knows exactly what that means. Love him. ❤️ I
This ticks all of my boxes so hard I'm sore
these voice harmonies sound so ethereal
Love this song, beautiful harmonies going on. The music video gives me “I know Him So Well” vibes. Well done CMAT and John Grant!
Exactly my thoughts. The styling is amazing
The duet we didn't know we needed! [insert goosebumps here]
This is utterly magnificent. It's like I Know Him So Well on steroids and they've given Barbara Dixon a beard. Totally love the drama and the vocals are sublime. Wow!
Middle 8 break before the outro - lyric and vocals hit wild 🤌🏻💥
John Grant is a musical God (he’s how I found this song) and I must now download everything by CMAT.
God shez amazing going through her songs here how has she not got millions of views
Smells like talent here.
Just looked up after watching Graham Norton 😄 Awesome band and an amazing voice ❤
I can’t stop listening to this song ❤
Best Irish song in years, well done
CMAT + John Grant! Squeeeeee!
This is brilliant. Well done CMAT. John Grant is a legend and CMAT is on fire.
This the best song of summer 2023 , best voices along together
Omg that was a bridge and half 🙌
Starts like an air raid siren, ends like an ABBA outtake, what a pret-a-banger. AND the video is giving I Know Him So Well, too.
I heard this song for the first time this morning, 8 or 9 in the morning, good 17 hours ago maybe, and whatever way it came about I've sort of been listening to it ever since. I remember I'd played it through maybe three or four times before I noticed how I kept doing that, putting it back to the start when it got to the end, and I sat back for a moment and thought to myself "you know this is the sort of thing that happens when I hear something really, properly incredible for the first time and it takes a while for this side of me to realise what the other side has known from the off. It'll be half one in the morning before we know where we are or where the kids are or anyone else and this will still be playing, wait til you see." And sure enough.
Beautiful and what a great song! John Grant is my favourite singer. Great to see him collaborating with a rising star like CMAT.
Perfection. Utterly ❤
Everything about this is fucking glorious
Very 80’s feel ❤❤❤
each single validates my purchasing on the vinyl even more
This is a stone cold bop!
I frequently wake up in the middle of the night, sweating, ear-worming so hard to this. Where are my kids? WHERE THE FUCK ARE MY KIDS? oh, it's OK, I don't have any... Thank God. My cat is on the sofa.
I read this and thought, God yes. Just like me. Then I realised it was my comment.
Beautiful
This is like my quintessential song of 2023. Everything about it, the lyrics, the harmonies, the video is truly excellent.
CMAT, you are fast becoming a new favorite. Such an incredible earworm of a tune.
Perfection.
This makes me smile
I discovered this video on a tv show called Rage a few weeks ago, and I love it so much!
This is actual perfection
“Lonely
I didn't know good choices make you lonely
And bad ones
Bad ones only make you disappear”
I mean, it’s just too good
Love her having the most crazy hair!
WHAT a great track❤ Your voices together is brilliant.
‘Everything fun falls apart’ perfectly summarises my life at the moment
Best song off the new album, the lyrics have been stuck in my head for weeks, so happy I can finally rest haha
Getting good Chess vibes. Bjorn, Benny, Elaine and Barbara.
The new album can’t get here soon enough for me.
She did it again lads!!! 💖💖💖
This song, her vocals, are giving me Lone Justice, Maria McKee vibes and I'm totally diggin' it
slayyyy CMAT & John 🥹
This is such an earworm banger and it's my first introduction to CMAT who seems fascinating
Great tune, great fucking album. That's 2 great albums in a row. Great music throughout both...❤
Obsessed with this ❤
Seeing you perform this before florence in malahide lit me on fire. fucking incredible as always i can't wait for the new album gorgina xxxx

Love This, First Time Hearing.
I can't stop listening to this
This is an immaculate song and an immaculate video. In any other era this would be a world wide smash.
CMAT YOURE AMAZING MAKES ME CRY WITH YOUR POWERFUL VOICE
I don't have children, but I always feel empty after a night of partying. Not sure if that's the theme of the song, but it hits hard.
"Shaking my hips, and cutting lines, feels a little passé, now. Shoud have cherished my wine. Everything good falls apart and leaves me here".
I can’t stop listening to this song
Its Just TOO GOOD 😲
Genius on so many levels
SUPERSTAR!!!!!!!

❤❤❤ thx for the lyrics ❤❤❤
Brilliant
Saw CMAT for the first time supporting Florence and the Machine at Belfast in the summer, and they were bloody PHENOMENAL. Such incredible stage presence, I’ve never seen anything like it!! A new fan for sure ❤
I love this song and the whole visual banquet!
Instant fan only heard of her. But she’s going to mega star ⭐️
I love that skipping bass line at the center
Fantastic
Damn this slaps
LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. Just can't get enough of it.
Superstar ⭐
A match made in heaven :-)
They are simply awsome. I' ve been missing of two wonderful voices.
Whoever directed the video, did the costuming etc did an incredible job. It perfectly matches the aesthetic, as in the 70's, that the music conjures up.
It's the 80s 🤗
@@divinaluz69 I stand corrected. I've since learned that the video is based on an Elaine Page video which came out in 84. I would maintain that the aesthetic of each decade does kind of spill over in the first three or four years of the next.
@@MatchesMalone1183 Yes, you're right about that. Like a transitional period 😊
80$
@@MatchesMalone1183it's like how 2000-2003 feels like the 90s.
