@cyndyava6 Thanks for the lovely comment! "Natural but edgy" is a good way to put it. The gold eyeshadow is Shu Uemura Gold 390, the liner is a Trish McEvoy black pencil with Shu Uemura Brown 860 brushed over it. I think the crease shadow was Cargo Kashmir. Brow bone is MAC Brulé.
Every now and then I come back to see your reviews and I’m just stoked to see and hear them. You’re a legend in the fragcomm and I was first introduced to you back in 2009/2010…. I have seen just about ALL your reviews and when you stopped up,lacing, I just decided to start re-watching the previously watched videos. Not sure what ur doing now or how your life has evolved, but we 💛❤️💛you, we miss you and we would WEEEEEEEEELCOME YOU BACK with nothing short of open arms......
Just finally got my nose on this and I was nervous because my only exposure to vetiver was Tom Ford Grey Vetiver which as we all know is much lighter. The sandalwood, lemon and tobacco complement the vetiver so beautifully that it balances the intense vetiver and I did need to go for it.
You are awesome Katie! You almost always hit the nail on the head with your funny and engaging reviews, even with one of your less preferred notes, vetiver. I love vetiver and Sycomore is my favorite - it is the melding of the Chanel plush elegance and vetiver that makes it work. Probably mostly from sandalwood in this case.
So glad to see that my 'nice words' have inspired you to review Sycamore!! And despite my love for it, I do agree with you; vetiver can be a little overbearing. All you need is one spray with this one.
So glad! If you haven't already, leave a little comment on the blog to say "hi" to everyone who chipped in with suggestions. They'll get a boot out of it.
I'm a fan of Vetiver, Love Vetiver from guerlain, it teminds me My Dad, that's why I love this, I also like Encre Noir from Lalique, it is kinda cool and refreshing for me, love it... Then I went to Chanel Boutique in Short Hills in NJ just to try Sicomore, I can say it was too rich and dense for my taste, woodsy and rich, mmm Too much for me, Wanted to buy it and said Hell Nooo, but i felt in love with Chanel Beige, Thank you, I'm your biggest fan, I've learned lots with your reviews, xxxooo.
Perfume that swears at you hee hee! what a great review with the addition of a few much appreciated giggles thrown in. Loved that you were willing to try his scent again with an open mind, Thanks, Katie!
@elektriktrash1550 You can buy it online from Chanel, or at a Chanel Boutique. Sycamore is part of Chanel's Les Exclusifs line, which has a narrow distribution. I've seen it at some Duty Free shops, as well.
One of my favorite frags! Huge fan! Funny review katie! I love what luca turin says about this. He states "if putting it on doesn't make u shiver with pleasure, go see a doctor."
@nycartist9 I have tried the ones that were at Anthropologie the other month (they seem to have come and gone?) - there was a solid one I liked, a rose/geranium one called Scarlett. Do you have any faves from the line?
I've just finished a 200ml bottle of this and I don't think I will repurchase. Whilst I found it enjoyable, I felt that it lacked "heft" and left me feeling unsatisfied. The original Guerlain Vetiver before the disastrous reformulation did the trick for me. It was rich, deep and satisfying. Sycomore reminds me of driftwood, it looks weighty until you pick it up, it has a hollow feel. I'm a 70's baby, I like VOLUME and PROJECTION!
Perhaps you might try Cabotine Gold or Commodity Bergamot. Both have vetiver, but have quite a citrusy introduction. Terre d'Hermes EDT might also be something you could test. Vetiver is very good for calming anxiety and stress.
"If ya don't wanna smell like every other cucumber head out there" ... no Katie, I do not. Love this review, thank you. I bought Sycomore as a blind buy before I saw this review, and I am glad I did. Love it.
@ramboram03 Vetiver does crop up in feminine perfumes, but usually dialed right down and smothered in a blend with florals. That's more my speed, personally.
Oh, Katie! Good on you for stepping into the ring with vetiver, your (seeming) arch-nemesis. We can all learn a thing or two open-mindedness from your example. It warms my heart to see you making friends with Sycomore. Loved your swearing tear, and with such a sweet look on your face, to boot! Keep smelling!
@MrsKittyInAction You'll get a better handle on vetiver if you smell it in mainstream men's fragrances like Guerlain Vetiver and Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, where it's featured front and center. Vetiver tends to be more blended and buried in women's perfumes, where it crops up in such disparate scents as Clinique Aromatics Elixir, Cartier Must, Dolce & Gabbana The One, Lolita Lempicka and Piguet Fracas.
@TheDurationPlusFive Heh - don't take it personally. I shall bear your comment in mind and redress the balance of light girly perfumes. I do actually have a review (and giveaway!) of a light girly floral coming up: Annick Goutal Le Mimosa.
@lilhiphopgirl101 I don't have a stand-alone review, but I discuss it in 3 videos: Valentine's Day Fragrances, Holiday Fragrance Gift Picks, and Katie's Perfume Collection Part 1.
my husband loves the guerlain vetiver, but he says it doesn't last well on his skin (3-4 hours, as opposed to something like lempicka masculine which lasts for like, 2 days). does this have better lasting power?
As a teenager, I loved Gap's "grass"-super classy, right? It was all I could really afford at the time, but I want to venture into some of these more natural scents. Hopefully Sycamore doesn't swear at me!
Guerlain Vetiver does not possess the inky, rooty harshness of Sycomore or Lalique Encre Noire. It comes across as grassy and clean. Why don't you try it this time around?
@augabe No carrots for me. Carrots are usually what pops up in iris-heavy fragrance. But I do like that you got all fancied up for your "date" with Sycomore!!
I loved the stuff within the first spritz! It did feel a little bit masculine. I would feel so cool and collected working a room full of people. Sophisticated and assertive.
@KatiePuckrikSmells I haven't tried them yet- but I'm looking for something light and milky with linden flower and/or coconut. If you are familiar with anything like that, I'm on the hunt. : )
Please come back. You are so delightful to watch & listen to. Missed! If you are still plugged in here, is there a perfume that comes to mind that merges warm, almond, skin, musc with something that may also have a little bit of green? I love, love my Labdanum 18 (evening in, cozy) but I also love to wear No 19 (to set me up for the day; "let's do this!")....I am not always wanting to cuddle or take on the world lol...suggestions would be so welcomed. From your review, I don't think Sycamore would work out for me; sounds beautiful, but not me. Thank you, Katie.
Thank you for your kind comments, Lisa! I think I can recommend something that hits the spot you're looking for - Dans Tes Bras by Frederic Malle. Since I posted a review on it many years ago, I've really warmed to it. It's a little green, but it also smells like skin warmed up by the sun. It's a blend of musk, violet and patchouli. I've not come across anything else like it.
Extra lovely review this time! Lots of feelings:) I've been trying so hard to find a perfume with a vetiver note at my local counters, just to get a feel of it, but I suspect I'm in the wrong part of the world - the only one with vetiver I've found so far is Pradas Infusion d'Iris. I do love it, but I suspect the vetiver isn't very prominent in it.
Your eyeshadow is beautiful. May I ask what brand and colors they are? I always notice how natural but edgy your makeup look is. You are a beautiful gal!
Hello katie, came across your review on CHANNEL Sycamore. I've considered purchasing it, as I'm a lover of Vetiver fragrances. I've not had a chance to check, but I was wondering if you've ever reviewed creeds "Vetiver Gerainium", or creeds now vaulted vetiver 1948.? This the one that president JFK was said to be fond of. love your reviews, and hope to hear from you soon. A2 ! p.s. Does the word vetiver translate as meaning "SMELLY MAN"?
I did smell Fleur D'oranger and i am a guy for starters, and it does give me a vibe of a black haired polish Melanesian Woman with a foulard tied around her neck, it has a dark scent ( i would assume the patchouli) then comes some cleanliness and an orangy feel but with extreme dark feminism,im not really sure it would match criteria bu. If you'd like to do a slight change in the Infusion line try infusion D'Iris its more powdery but more interesting and warmer than Infusion d'homme. Take care.
Question..Which is more favorable Guerlain Vetiver or Sycomore? I used to own Sycomore before and had to sell it since i got tired of it! However i am planing to go back to the "Killing floor" of vetiver but with a change, with a more Belle epoque choice GUERLAIN, what would you recommend more if you are put under pressure to choose between those two scents ONLY! I feel that Sycomore has some manly harshness in it, is Guerlain going to be the same or different? thanks Katie
Great review. Nothing wrong with not liking vetiver...it's just not a feminine smell. I hardly ever wear it, as well, with the exception being Encre Noire, which I love.
Hey, I was wondering what you thought of Angel sunessence and Alien sunessence, I saw them browsing online and i was curios of your opinions on them! if youve smelled them. :)
Just acquired a sample of this one. I'll have to wear it soon and rewatch your vid. This one was more of a discussion than a review. Enjoyed it. I almost laughed myself out of my chair at 2:43.
To me, Encre Noir and Channel Allure Blanche are two very different scents. EN is a vetiver bomb which is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. It took me some time to appreciate EN and now I like it especially during cold days.
First off, Katie, I LIVE for your reviews! I find you to be quite witty and informative! I was thinking about buying this fragrance; however, I am not too much into oud/vetiver scents. I just thought that I would venture out of my gourmand, fresh, aquatic, and spicy scents. Sadly, I don't think Sycomore is for me :(. I searched your blog (and vid archive), and I haven't seen a review of Prada Infusion de Fleur D'oranger. I am a male, can I pull this off? I love D'Infusion D'homme..
I think I'm in love. It's like watching Tina Fey take perfume seriously. And the language of perfume is somehow mildly pornographic. I'm watching all of these immediately.
great review Katie and am with you am not big on vetiver but when i tried this in vegas it was nice just not something am sure id wear alot in california
if you're gawking at the price, first it's totally worth it. Second, it comes in a 75ml bottle now so that's a bit more reasonable. Third, this gets 'split' on many of the boards and sites like UA-cam so you can spend less and get a little juice. Lastly, Lalique's Encre Noire is a pretty close approximation and it's not only very cheap but has a beautiful box and bottle and smells great, very similar to Sycomore.
Katie, for some of us perfume lovers who are still learning their way around the woods(no pun intended), could you please give us a couple main stream examples of womens perfume that contain vetiver? This would be very helpfull before spending money to try it.(I live in a rual town in Pa. where the biggest department store is Bonton's...lol) Thanks

You look fantastic. Not sure if it's because I am watching your videos after a long time or if you really did something with your face. Either way, you look great.
I never had pinpointed what vetiver smelled like (newbie to the perfumie). Well, I braved the elements and went to the super fancy-schmancy Chanel boutique in Montréal dressed in my very fecthing student-on-a-tight-budget outfit and got a niff of Sycomore. Well... .... it did not impress me much. To my nose, vetiver = carrot. Not carrot-like, not carrot-lite but BIG BOLD GOOD FOR YOUR EYES STEAMED CARROTS. Anyone? Anyone???
One of the more amusing reviews I've seen in a while. I was afraid that you'd started to take the reviews too seriously. lol. I have a few "woody" scents, such as L'Occitane Cedre, YSL Elle, and a solid perfume by Pacifica called Tibetan Mountain Temple. It has vetiver in it, and combined with the other spice scents, it's not as overwhelming as you had described. In FACT, I've been told that when I wear that fragrance, I smell like cookies... What kind? Whichever has vetiver, patchouli, ginger
You are absolutely right, i did smell it recently in Nordstrom and wow you are right on point, much cleaner and softer than Sycomore and.....*whisper" cheaper..... Thanks :)
This is one of the funniest reviews I've seen. I wish she still made videos.

I love this question! I'm going to answer it on my blog, and invite my readers to chime in with suggestions. I'll let you know when it's up.

You're hilarious and so thorough with your reviews! Love it!
I love you Katie Puckerick! Come back to me (YT)

I've got 3 big favorites right now: Clinique Aromatics Elixir, Bruno Acampora Musc, and Byredo Rose Noir.
I'm so in love with you
@elektriktrash1550 You can buy it online from Chanel, or at a Chanel Boutique. Sycamore is part of Chanel's Les Exclusifs line, which has a narrow distribution. I've seen it at some Duty Free shops, as well.

Okay! I've answered your question on my blog (you can click through via this channel's front page. People are chiming in with lots of choices for you.
@nycartist9 I have tried the ones that were at Anthropologie the other month (they seem to have come and gone?) - there was a solid one I liked, a rose/geranium one called Scarlett. Do you have any faves from the line?
@dance4liifeyeah Sycomore is sold at Chanel boutiques and online from Chanel.
I've just finished a 200ml bottle of this and I don't think I will repurchase. Whilst I found it enjoyable, I felt that it lacked "heft" and left me feeling unsatisfied. High Class Review. Fantastic!

Where have you gone?🙂
Oh, Katie! Good on you for stepping into the ring with vetiver, your (seeming) arch-nemesis. We can all learn a thing or two open-mindedness from your example. It warms my heart to see you making friends with Sycomore.
Loved your swearing tear, and with such a sweet look on your face, to boot!

SYCOMORE! PRAISE SYCOMORE! Love this juice with a passion!
OUTSTANDING REVIEW Katie!
@lilhiphopgirl101 I don't have a stand-alone review, but I discuss it in 3 videos: Valentine's Day Fragrances, Holiday Fragrance Gift Picks, and Katie's Perfume Collection Part 1.
What types of perfumes would you recommend for teenagers who are looking for something a little more sultry/complex as opposed to sickly sweet?
my husband loves the guerlain vetiver, but he says it doesn't last well on his skin (3-4 hours, as opposed to something like lempicka masculine which lasts for like, 2 days). does this have better lasting power?

@cfmarie79 Samples directly from Chanel boutiques, or buy a samp online from The Perfumed Court.

Oh, I LOVE Lolita Lempicka, Stella and Jean Paul Guiltier Classique... Are there any other similiar parfumes you can suggests? Thanks!
I loved the stuff within the first spritz! It did feel a little bit masculine. I would feel so cool and collected working a room full of people. Sophisticated and assertive.
I love your reviews, and your personality/humor is top notch!
@KatiePuckrikSmells I haven't tried them yet- but I'm looking for something light and milky with linden flower and/or coconut. If you are familiar with anything like that, I'm on the hunt. : )

Haha best review ever! And although I love vetiver scents, I think you really hit the spot on the downsides of it. Cheers from a new fan in Sweden!

ogun from BPAL is a dark, unique melon scent :) the notes are "cigar tobacco, gin and juniper, melon, chili pepper and a touch of honey."
I can not decide whether to pull the trigger, or not.
really in love with BLUSH by Marc J... but it was discontinued, any other perfume u'll recommend close to it? Thanks...

I cried from laughing so hard from this review! Thank you for brightening my day!
@NingasKugon09 let me know if you find one!
I would like to ask what you think about Tom Ford Tabacco Vanille?
@MyMickers I'd like to know what a doctor would prescribe for that!
Perhaps my favorite Katie review! It's so good 😄
I love this one! And I don’t usually like Vetiver at all
Hey, I was wondering what you thought of Angel sunessence and Alien sunessence, I saw them browsing online and i was curios of your opinions on them! if youve smelled them. :)
i love your descriptions
did you coordinate your shirt to the perfume reviewed? :)
This was hysterical! Haha have you tried any of the ToykoMilk Parfums?
Just acquired a sample of this one. I'll have to wear it soon and rewatch your vid. This one was more of a discussion than a review. Enjoyed it. I almost laughed myself out of my chair at 2:43.
Great review, as always! I would love to hear what you think of Antaeus.

Hi Katie!! Can you review the perfume "marry me" from Lanvin??
greets xxx
Wonderful review Katie. Thank you bonny lass.
my favorite vetiver fragrance is tom ford grey vetiver. love love love the stuff. its a fresh, clean vetiver for the young professional
I think I'm in love. It's like watching Tina Fey take perfume seriously. And the language of perfume is somehow mildly pornographic. I'm watching all of these immediately.
@KatiePuckrikSmells i just knew you were gonna say N.R for her edp, i will def try it out. thanks so much.
awesome review katie! Love your top too
great review Katie and am with you am not big on vetiver but when i tried this in vegas it was nice just not something am sure id wear alot in california
if you're gawking at the price, first it's totally worth it.
I don't like it when my frags swear at me either! I have found great medication to remedy this problem, lol.
Not trying to convert you to vetiver, but vetiver pour elle guerlain is stunning, this is your funniest review, Luca Turin would be proud x
Where can I score a sample of this??
@dtnj06 I hear ya, Darlene - thanks for your feedback.
I have a melon scented candle in my room right now and cucumber hand sanitizer. I love the smell of melon :)
Katie, for some of us perfume lovers who are still learning their way around the woods(no pun intended), could you please give us a couple main stream examples of womens perfume that contain vetiver? This would be very helpfull before spending money to try it.(I live in a rual town in Pa. where the biggest department store is Bonton's...lol)
Thanks
I totally agree with Sycomore smelling "burned". Frederic Malle's Vetiver Extraordinaire is another high quality woody vetiver and I find that it works better on me than Sycomore. But nothing compaires to the duality of the feminine fresh-floral notes and the tabacco-earthy masculanity of Guerlain Vétiver IMHO.
Anyways the Chanel Exclusives is a great collection: from the vintage scents I love Cuir de Russie and Bois des Isles and from the modern scents Beige and 31 Rue Cambon are my favorites.
Can you do a review for Chanel Beige?
@60scinema Glad you caught your co-starring role on this video!
Anyone? Anyone???
@KatiePuckrikSmells You are welcome! Keep up the great work. I look forward to your extraordinary reviews.
Awesome review on a great Vetiver based fragrance.
@missravenashley Haven't checked them out yet.
@CrimeKisses You might really love it, since you can handle oud.
thanks! I'll definitely take your suggestion!
Oooo..Spontaneously Combusting Drug Mule...has a catchy ring to it! Great review, Katie. Thanks for the education and the laughs.
Would like to hear what your signature scent is....if you have one.
I love your vids! So honest.
@MsIna25 Try Narciso Rodriguez For Her EdP.
You are absolutely right, i did smell it recently in Nordstrom and wow you are right on point, much cleaner and softer than Sycomore and.....*whisper" cheaper.....
Thanks :)
You Are Awesome Katie!! Thumbs up for Katie :D
