  • Discover the secrets of the Queen Conch, a stunning mollusk often referred to as the Queen of the Sea. Florida Atlantic University professor Megan Davis shares her passion for the Queen Conch, from her teenage encounters in The Bahamas to pioneering commercial conch farming techniques.
🌊 Learn about the challenges the conch faces due to overfishing and how the Queen Conch Lab program at FAU's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is working towards creating community-based conch farms across the Caribbean.
👩‍🔬Join Dr. Davis at the cutting-edge Mobile Queen Conch Lab Hatchery, a pivotal project funded by Builders Initiative, set to make a difference in Grand Bahama.
🐚 Explore the four stages of conch growth from egg incubation to metamorphosis, and understand the vital role of the mobile lab in restoration efforts.
📚 Discover how this mobile lab, with a capacity to grow 2000 conch a year, is not just a tool for restoration but also an educational hub. 📚
Through the collaboration with fishermen, communities and educational institutions, Dr. Megan Davis hopes this iconic species thrives for generations to come, not just as a shell, but as a vital part of our ocean ecosystem.
