I got to smoke weed while Niel Young and Willie were playing. Front row in a rural setting. He had his solar powered portable stage set for the music. Twice he sent out one of his crew who told me that Willie would like to share this with you. Very powerful and spiritual. I tried to stand and watch them play a duet. Got slammed in my chair three times. Decided just to sit and enjoy the blessing.

I worked with a friend in Nashville who had some success as a country singer. He told me a similar story except he was the new guy performing at an all day outdoor festival. When asked if he wanted to meet Willie Nelson, of course he was delighted. Weed was not really his thing but Willie got him stoned anyway... an hour before he had to go on stage.

I wonder where Willy gets his marijuana. I remember when the Texas Department of Safety Troopers pulled over his tour bus claiming they could smell marijuana driving behind the bus at 70mph. They found a huge amount of marijuana that he claimed was his personal stash. We all thought it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Why bother arresting him. Any normal person caught with the amount of weed would be arrested for dealing but people realize this is Willy. The governor had to make some phone calls

What actually happened was he didn't say it was his and no one on the bus said it was theirs and they couldn't prove who owned it. And he paid a $4,000 fine and the weed was confiscated and that was it.
It was a travesty of justice and weed should be legal for everyone. Popular entertainers shouldn't pay a fine while Hispanic mother goes to prison for 12 years for having one joint.
Fortunately the legal trend is headed in the right direction.

Don't you wish you went to the parties that I went to in my early 20"s. I know his grandaughter and had the privedge to meet and you know what with him. It has been the highlight of my younger days. A very nice guy, didn't share many stories but what a great night. I went to many parties out there west of Austin out at his grandaughters but this was the only time he dropped in and made our day. Always live bands, pool games, and many kegs.........oh the days. Believe it or not ...good stuff.

I remember my first time too. It was 1980. My friend told me it was some good, "One Hit" Hawaiin. So I had one hit. Thing is, I had to meet with a Nazarene preacher 30 minutes later for an intervention my mom arranged because I was skipping skool and my grades were plummeting. That was a very awkward intervention. The preacher gave up.
