Hey, I have a question. I'm italian and here where I live skateboarding doesn't really seem to be a thing. I practice parkour tho, so I kinda know how it is with people getting triggered just because and that's why I got interested in this kind of videos and I started to wonder: is there some law/regulation about skateboarding or what?
I do agree with what you said, but I also think that in some clips people really seem to freak out for no apparent reason
I'm surely gonna document myself but I wanted to hear what a skater had to say, too
@@rjoe3309 Skating does have some regulation, but the problem is that most scenarios involve the toxicity of some skaters and the legal ramifications of others. Skating on private property or places where such modes of transportation are not allowed is a big problem. Mainly due to the risks involved such as damage to others or the property itself which might seem trivial but certain things either cost money or cost money to maintain.

That’s...not true at all actually. You can get in tons of trouble skating on private property.
Many states have laws that say you have a right to defend yourself, and your property, so if you’re doing something that’s damaging the property (skating on it) they have every right to stop you. They can also press charges of trespassing, and destruction of property. It just ain’t worth it to skate places you’re not supposed to bro.

Depends on the town I came from a medium size town and the cops would give us shit but we would always be cool back and we had a nice thing going. They only got involved when when they got complaints on private property. If you're cool and don't cry like a bitch most people are cool back.

Skaters rarely go faster than the average person can run and they’re usually pretty good about preventing accidents if they’re not being idiots, so if the off chance they DO hit you, it’s at most gonna result in a small scrape or bruise. Youll be fine, princess. They’re also hella loud so it’s not like people can’t hear em from a mile away. Skaters and pedestrians can coexist in the same way that cars and pedestrians do: stay in your fucking lane and don’t suddenly run into the path of a vehicle. Easy.

Jye Sarkis Most of these kids (not most skaters in general) are just reckless with regards to other peoples safety. If you decide to skate on a public sidewalk, at least pick a not so busy spot, and give non-lethal pedestrians right of way. Most skaters I know and encounter do this.

See... I get skating in public. It's fun to do stuff where there's lots of room and stuff. However, I don't like it when people do it when there's others who are near where you're skating. Yeah, it's public and anyone can transport themselves how they like, but from a logical perspective should you _really_ just do an ollie down a flight of stairs as some dude with a bike tries to walk it? Or, as another video showed, grind a crub as some woman stands RIGHT there with her dog? A lot of these aren't legal issues, just sort of common courtesy. The equivalence of not running through a crowded mall because you might bump into someone and hurt yourself or others: sure, you _can_ but should you? No.
Skating on private property is an instant no from me. Hell, to an extent, doing certain tricks on PUBLIC property is also a no. A single grind won't hurt, but if you keep doing that on the same rail or "bomb" it and bend it crooked somehow it'll definitely leave a mark.
Why can people skate with their heads and not their egos? Or their "hormones"?
