That is an awesome cellar Dave! You definitely don’t have to worry about running out! Also, the prices of pipe tobaccos will only continue to go up…👍🏽👍🏽
That is truly a heck of a lot of tobacco. You never have to worry about running out. More tobacco than I’ve seen in any pipe shops. Plus your Wyoming cellar! I think a lot of us would do the same if we could. I don’t even have room enough for that much. You’re living the dream, for sure. You earned it. 👍
Fantastic . I just started my journey into pipes and tobacco and I know nothing but I enjoy it. I wish I could afford to do what you have done. Still learning love your videos and the rest of the YTPC. Keep it up and hello from Houston Texas.🎉
I think you've done great purchasing so much as we all know look what's happened to MacBaren/Sutliff. Bulk buy while you can guys we've been getting told this time and time again so if your favorite blends do go and you haven't listened tough shit. Man had too watch this twice didn't realise how much bigger your cellar has got Dave ive not got a quarter of your cellar and still can't decide what too smoke 😃😃😃😃all the best buddy.
Outstanding cellar Dave. Unbelievable really, enjoyed hearing your reasons for the collection. That being said you don’t have to explain yourself. Hope you’re all shoveled out. Regards Mark
I started in the late spring of 2023. I'm only 31 now but over the years found how much I LOVED mac barens HH line. Right now I have 4 or 5 lbs of HH VA, 3 lbs of HH burley, 2 lbs of HH ODF, and 1 lb of HH Bold. Also maybe 3 or 4 tins of each that wasn't bought bulk. Hopefully the HH line is brought back by someone, but if not I have some nice padding and it can probably last me quite a very long time. I bought them mainly for betting against price increases, but turns out that it was even more important than that
Your collection is truly impressive! I've been a pipe/tobacco afficianodp off and on for the past 15 years and have amassed nearly 30 pipes and 50 containers of tobacco. Unfortunately. I live in a state where the state government prohibits its citizens from purchasing tobacco from online retailers and there are very few in state retailers that sell premium pipe tobacco . Thank you so much for sharing this video!
Ouch - no online purchases is a killer. I hate that we have 5 states now that prohibit them. So crazy and I'm worried that more are headed that way. Part of the reason I have the cellaring I do.
You are a kind and generous human being Dave. You are cellaring for the very best reasons, and it is abundantly clear that you don't do these cellar videos to pad your ego. You have obviously done well in life and possess a sharing nature. Good on you. 👍☘
Awesome cellar!! Thanks for sharing. I can certainly appreciate your zeal for pipe smoking. My cellar is pretty full, too, but you've got me beat, haha.
You have certainly future proofed yourself from price increases and or blends going off the market. It looks like you would never need to buy any tobacco ever again and still stay happily supplied :) You have a cellar that many will be envious of after only two years of smoking. well done :) you have both cellared wide and cellared deep.
Dave, OUTSTANDING!! I have a long way to go. Talk about a kid in the candy store. There is only one thing left to do, I believe you need a BIGGER Maryland Meerschaum.
This is an impressive testament to excess. There’s enough tobacco here to last you 40 years, and you have TWO of these cellars. I’ve got around 100 tins and small Ball jars, total, and I feel like that’s enough to last me 5-10 years at the rate I smoke. And I know there are blends I will continue to cellar over the years. I get it though, you have the passion and the means to make it happen, so good for you and thanks for sharing!
Im a Wyoming Native here. County 17 half the year and County 9 the other half of the year. I was happy to find a fellow pipe smoker from my home state, you earned A subscription from me. Gillette recently opened a very nice Cigar Bar. I myself am currently in talks with the owner about bringing in more pipe Tobaccos and accessories. trying to do my part to keep this hobby alive by bringing attention to it and getting anyone and everyone involved.
@ if you have any interest in hunting and fishing in Wyoming 🎣 I strongly recommend looking into Paintrock Lodge in the bighorns. It’s a very historic hidden gem right at the wilderness Boundary. The guides have 40+ years experience. If you’re looking for a place to reconnect to nature in a blissful peaceful way. We would love to have you!
That’s quite the collection. Especially all the HU’s you have. I’m in the midst of building up my cellar and it’s neat to see what people are cellaring! Thanks for your videos!
Beautiful Pipe!! Don't feel any type of way. I'd do the same thing. Once i get into something i go full force with obsession. Its ok. Its what we do. We have to have something to keep us grounded. I'm starting my Pipe journey soon. Nothing wrong with have a great awesome big stock. These companies come and go and you never know when they'll bow out and fold.
Great cellar. You do it cause you can! I maybe have 1/8 of what you have, and I have trouble selecting a smoke.......I can't imagine trying to pick a smoke from your collection.
That's a *ton* of tobacco! if my wife pushes back on the amount I have in stock I'll have your video cued up as a defense. Just a suggestion: depending upon the moisture level you prefer, you may want to consider transferring to jars those blends that you currently have in plastic bags [Peretti "Thanksgiving Day" was the first one that caught my eye]. My experience has been that pipe blends in plastic bags--unless they're soggy with propylene glycol--tend to dry out fairly quickly. If you truly want to give some of your collection away, I'll be there for you.
Found your channel a few weeks ago and really enjoying the content. Love your transparency! I was fortunate to get a few extra tins of the HH blends before they all sold out. If you ever are interested in selling a few tins of War Horse Green I'd be very interested 🙂
That is a very serious cellar. I "might" have one shelf like yours about half full, and I think with the amount i smoke, it will last me a lifetime. I always have bartering in my mind when purchasing tobacco. God bless
Awesome cellar. I sometimes wish I had bought more Tobacco instead of a combo of pipes/tobacco. I have a great selection, but nothing of this magnitude. I'm happy you're able to do this. I've heard from several sources that precious metals, ammo, alcohol, tobacco, food are among the best bartering tools ever.
Ya, same here in Canada. Winter travelling across the country is not a good idea. So by watching all those videos about pipe tobaccos shows that like other things in your life, you did your homework. I also have enough tobacco in my cellar to last me the rest of my life. I don't have anywhere as much as you, but I'm set.
Seriously great collection. If you need someone to gladly take on the aromatic you don't need anymore. Father of four and have a wonderful wife and live in a place where my selection is beyond slim pickings. To even get a decent selection it is an hour drive. The closest is half and hour and I think I may be the only person who buys the pipe tobacco at this point. Makes it nice but you have more in one shelf than two of my local shops combined.
Hey Dave! Great video of the cellar! WOW! You're set with tobacco for a long, long time. Yes sir you're very generous and a giving person and your videos shows that to your viewers that will probably never meet you in person, like myself. Enjoy the fruits of your labor brother as you want. I enjoy looking at all of your preparedness gear. Happy Smoking Brother!💪🏻
You are an amazing man ! You are a wealth of knowledge and wisdom , only a jealous person would envy you for tobacco cellar. If I’m not mistaken it is cautioned about jealousy and envy over someone’s possessions
I live in Iowa. I know of only a few brick and mortar shops throughout the state. I’m confident that your cellar exceeds the retail availability of pipe tobacco of the entire state of Iowa.
I’ve come to the conclusion that you have the largest cellar in the YTpc I thought my 15 tubs were excessive! LOL The NASPC show did not have half that tobacco there! I’m stunned!!
You have a good archive of flavors. I could imagine a master blender contacting you if they wanted to try and replicate lost blends. like those match blends you see on the market.
You made a good point. Build the cellar you can afford without going into debt. One shouldn’t be paying credit card interest period, and especially not on your hobbies Esterval’s has great prices. Shipping for 5 Tins almost doubles the price but it is still cheaper than buying 5 tins from US online store if it’s even available. My issue with them (and the reason I can’t buy from them), is that they do not take MC, VISA nor PayPal. I don’t want to set up a new method of payment just to buy a few tins of tobacco.
Hello, I'm in a similar position where I've been smoking a pipe for about a year and have been building up my cellar of the blends I like. I also went down the Estervals path and ordered about £150 worth which is 1/3 of the price here in England. Got a message from customs that I need to pay nearly 500 to have it delivered which is being returned now. Wish we had tobacco as good value as you do in the USA but the tobacco police are slowly sinking their teeth in around the world. Could be worse, I could live in Australia 😂
“Why would a man do this?” Because he’s intelligent and can. He’s purchasing an asset that should, if anything, improve with time and is somewhat fungible should the Grim Reaper make an unfortunately early entrance. Easy question.
Your Awsome Dave. Nice celler, it is really impresive. I too began my pipe journey back in 2023. I inspire to have maybe one of my shelves like how u do one day. What are your favorite main varieties?
You have done what many have done…just on a much larger scale. I have really tried not to buy anymore cause I’ve gone backwards in my taste. I got to smoking English blends and stocked up on some stuff. Now I am smoking nothing but Boswell aromatics since last spring. As of right now (and things do change) I plan to just stock up on a can or 2 of small batch stuff as they come out. The stuff that will cellar well so when I’m a little older I can enjoy them if I want.
Cracking video Dave! That’s some views in a short space of time! Your cellar never fails to impress and inspire 😊. I’ve never seen “Wessex” tobacco before and spookily I got an old Wessex pipe for Christmas but I have no idea if they are the same company or not. Is there a Rum / Whiskey / Cognac topped tobacco you have that stands out as the best for keeping hold of that taste/ aroma?
But seriously, the last week and a half gives validation to the action. Shop local boys. C&D is all we have now. Support them, they are our last Bastian in the states.
HI there Dave, I'm waiting for my first 2 pipes to arrive so I can start my own pipe journey. What tobacco do you recommend as a great first smoke? So many options out there...Kinda confusing at times! Thank you and congratulations on a great collection/cellar! Regards, Paulo
Hey Paulo - my very first tobacco was Boswell's Cherry Vanilla. That is a fantastic place to start as it tastes and smells amazing. Boswell's No Bite Delite is my #2 recommendation. I believe you would love both.
Hey Dave! I have not watched this video yet but I have a cigar question. What is your opinion on cigar plume? I think having a variety of tobacco in inventory is way more important than the amount of pipes. Your cellar should be seen as a goal to reach.
