love the part at 7:00, beautiful clean tone on the chords. funny thing with the intro, there was some leaked audio files from the recording sessions for this album and a LOT of the files were just many takes of the intro to this song with omar messing up slightly and swearing lol. if even omar found it so difficult to get right (to his perfectionist standard im sure) i respect anyone who can play it like you did

Kinda of, i wrote a pretty sloppy guide, its really hard to put the rhythms down accurately. Ive been listening to this song for about 8 years, that helped a little haha
@ haha I know many the scales he uses are just nuts, plus he never plays any solos the same live as the albums so you have no way of tryna watch what he plays ! Indeed the Mars Volta are amazing! When they split up it was like when iron man died ! ✨

Thanks! I did use an existing guitar pro as a guideline, but I did not find all parts to be accurate, and the fingerings are also not my style, so it's not what I'm playing in the video. How exactly do you get the tone of the solo? I figure there's some delay and a tube screamer type overdrive (or maybe a fuzz), but is that it?

thats right! I'm using a scream drive from the digital amp itself, then a flanger, delay and reverb pedals in that order (everything from Waves GTR plugin pack)..and there is also some distortion from the compressor plugin I used (Pulsar Smasher)
@ Thank you! That tone is one of my all-time favourites and IMO you nailed it along with the rest of the cover :) I do think the little repeating guitar lick that plays over the solo should have some phaser too, but that's a tiny nitpick
