- Cockpit video of the MD-530F Cayuse Warrior Helicopter being flown by U.S. Air Advisers from TAAC AIR/438th AEW. U.S. and Afghanistan Air Forces jointly fly the MD-530F in Afghanistan. Filmed on May 8, 2016.
Film Credits: SSgt John McRell
After flight school, my unit still had a bunch of Oh-6’s. So I learned how to fly on a Huey, transitioned to the OH-58 and came home to fly the Nam version of this baby. I loved the loach. Best aircraft I ever had the pleasure to fly for the Army.
How'd you find the 58?
It's interesting to see how the recoil of the weapons actually affect the aircraft and what the pilot does to counteract it. The frame is so light that it actually gets pulled to the left when shots are fired.
I saw that as well. Great observation.
Ahhhh. Little birds are so cute.
Don't let the size fool you mister.
@@billhuber2964 Aha, William, we had a very young CW4 (Vietnam Vet) 6'4" tall and we slug drivers would love to watch Wendell climb into that left seat and throw anti-torques at young Captains....yes sir, a Huey driver will never measure his peni versus a little bird Loach pilot. Funny they brought it back to fight, a much more capable helo than the OH-58 A models for sure
Their camo pattern is perfect! They really blended in when I saw them in Afghanistan.
If you saw them they need to work on it lol.
Fantastic footage, great POV and wicked resolution. Thanks for posting.
Glad to see those pilots have something more than a pistol if they ever go down.
don't you know better to keep of the aggressive trout
I thought the same thing
It's not for when they go down. The copilot can pull out the rifle and shoot out of the window as seen with the Kiowa's.
justine turdois
Kiowa turds only do that because their weapons systems FAIL !
I actually managed to get an M-203 to fit with some modifications to that mount. Carried some HEDP rounds just in case.........
Little Bird ‘s are my favorite! My first ride was on the skids and I’ve been addicted to them since! Much love and thanks for posting!
Only thing I noticed was when the ground crew went to remove the pin after the helo had been up and running. When I was a refueler, we had to stay outside of the rotor blade while it was running. Great video by the way!! Awesome helos!
I have flown the Hughes 369 HM , the 500 C and the 500 D .
Lots of fun riding a real mil hello. I wonder why the safest and most versatile turbine chopper went out of production.
Erm yeah, happy to say it didn't, defence just dropped it. But you already know that right?
Past memories for me but you gotta admit NOTAR kinda rocks.... for so many reasons right?
Time stops for no one mate, just roll the glory days into here and now and keep smearing bacon on those round bud :)
@@ghosty616It has been a long time since my comment. thanks for yours!
In fact, I am a *huge* fan of the Hughes family. I close my eyes and clearly remember the
incredible maneuverability of the H 500 D and the gliding characteristics of the 369 HM.
Awesome quality!!!
When I was in it was the OH-6 "V" tail. Got to call in 105s from one, awesome view when compared to an OP in a fox hole.
Joseph Kane 82nd, 1/319 FA, forward observer '78-'80. TBF I used the GT a couple of times from the ground too. It was typically frowned upon because under "real tactical" they would have to pack up and move after a fire mission.
Really cool video!
Big improvement over the Vietnam era OH-6. More powerful turbine and heavy M3 50 cal. Can work at altitude now and not at 10 ft AGL. That 50 cal ammo sure looks dirty, I wonder if low bidders are sacrificing on quality ammo? Has to be hard on equipment.
el ejercito de Chile tiene de estos ...son increíblemente poderosos para ser tan pequeños.
La fuerza aérea mexicana también,aunque quisiera que fueran mas
I miss flying those. Such a great aircraft.
Really great POV video. Awesome!!
It's really suprisingly that this old heli is buyable after 50 years....
Oh shit! I flew in an OH-6 WHAT THE HELL IS THAT BEAUTY!⚔️🇺🇸
Looks like a lot of fun, thanks for the upload, God bless!
Gung Ho Vids...... keep them videos coming. Great stuff again !
Super bad ass.
Thank you for sharing this great video.
OMG! That looks like fun! These guys mean business! I swear we have the coolest shit!!!
Glad to see you invested in a million dollar camera with about 80 terabytes of storage. Great quality, great filming, and a fantastic show from the forces.
That is super cool. Great to see the AAF getting up on their feet.
⚰️🥀
It's just such a great machine!!!
Cayuse? Yes sir!...also known in some circles as 'Little Bird'...almost ageless...what a bird!
My dream helicopter, I rode it once n it is awesome
Awesome video!!! Thanks for posting!
Looks a little like Mesa AZ where they build these. Definitely not expendable like the $20K Vietnam OH-6. The avionics package allows them to do things at altitude the OH-6 could never do.
Great video. I appreciate there is no music. :-)
Excellent film footage and sound.
Really brave army (Afghanistan)
Air Force, but I agree just the same.
Fantastic aircraft. Good post!
It looks exciting.
muy bueno el video , así me gustaría ver a nuestros helicópteros armados con los Pods Tordo.
New uses for the Vietnam era Loach... Lost a close friend in one 1969
Hol up is my dude flying with a knee brace on?😂😭💯hardcore bro. lolol.
It's not a knee brace. It's either a leg holster, or a knee board for maps, etc.
@Alex turnquest I didn't see a knee brace?
I flew a 500 and they are the ferarri of the skies. Very light on the controls and pitchy. I hear that a Huey is not so sensitive. You can fly a 500 just by thinking.
Great video as usual!
Good show gentlemen 👍
Damn reposts!
These things are fun to fly
Very cute🤗
Ahhhh...lol...looks like a P226 Legion. I like this guy already, The reset on that thing is one mm. That Sig was made to shredd!!!!!!!!!
Incredible
This video makes me want to watch Capricorn One.
That was a good movie!
@@josephkane825 You're a good man!
Ah, babysitting carpet eaters in helicopters...like standing in front of your microwave and trying to convince it that it's a refrigerator. It's just not listening.
Is that a 50cal gunpod?
Seems like Ship 221 was heavy on the port side. Can the helo be trimmed?
JimmyD_C172 yes
Looks fun
AWESOME VIDEO. WHAT IS THE BOTTOM SECTION OF OVER THE PILOTS MOUTH.
😍😍😍

No more dude ....all have been wasted! Long Live Islamic Republic of Afghanistan!

@@yusoffmdsalleh you can have that useless shit hole of a country , good luck feeding yourselves!
How do they target those guns...is it like spray and pray?
The guns are sighted so that the two streams of bullets converge at the same point out in front of the helo, usually at a know distance, say 100 to 500 yards. Combine hours of training plus the use of tracer rounds, bullets with a small amount of a burning substance that is ignited when fired and can be seen quite well even in bright sunlight and they become very sufficient at putting rounds on target.
Hope this wasn't too long winded.
grease pencil mark on the plexi. Not kidding
Are those .50 caliber or 7.62 machine guns in the weapons pods?
More, please.
What model is the civilian one? Like Buzzard in GTA5 but without the rockets and machine gun.
What helmets are they wearing? looks cool
Gentex HGU-56/P with Maxillofacial Shields
Looks like an Alpha helmet.
Thought they were flying over the US-Mexican border til I read the description.
Interesting I did not realize the names... You have the Apache and now the Cayuse. Both are warrior American Indian tribes.
Cayuse is a horse, usually bad tempered or poor quality. From what I have heard over the years.
The Cayuse is an Indian Tribe of Idaho, Washinton, and Oregon territories. They also were a Tribe rich in horses. They still exist to this day like the Apache. Whether the horse was named after the Indian or Indian named after horse I do not know. I do know these Indians were warriors.
This kicks ass🤘 !!! Helicopter pilots rock !!! They get the hot women👍🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸
Who are flying these birds

Классная машинка!
Cool Pilots with Predator Mask ;)
it is Afghan airforce pilot
Just like in Battlefield 4
That is some Magnum PI shit right there! ;-)
Cute toy
I thought they were out of use
Bad. Ass.
Why aren't they wearing flight suits?
This is Viking 2 >little bird is ready to cover you over.
They look like they'd be a lot more effective with FFAR rockets
They're difficult to aim, and surprisingly don't deal a lot of blast damage.
Even the 229s?
Bad ass
It’s a buzzard from gta with no doors
airwolf enemies 😃
Fuck yeah.....✌😎
cool
Little bird no fear
I want one
Cherry!!
7.62 in the pods?
50 cal
Pilot Americanos fly helicopters Air Force Afghanistan ? mmmh ¿ Instructores?
Those are tests
They will hire "contractors" when they are turned over to the ANA.
what's that weird face mask?
Sounds like an M3P...
Opium security
Anyone think well hell wonder if Taliban is taking care of these great aircraft?
Non-flight approved boots. I'm sorely disappointed.
Belleville 340DES ST Steel Toe Flight Boots, approved by USAF for flight ops.
Why are they shooting up horses?
That beep is annoying
oh hell yeah
Me coming here after playing warzone
Taliban air force
Thanks usanda
Yeah was fun, but kinda seems in vein now given current circumstances, all of the training in vein.
i knew these guys personally, all of them true locals defending their only way of life... and now we cant even grant them solid asylum...
Glad we got the fuk out, but cant reconcile the aftermath.
All politicians should undergo mandatory service prior to appointment.
Juz sayin....
