    That moment when you can see the relief in your body when you realised you could still save some... aww haha. Great to see you and Nick thriving in your own place again and still able to save.

    Have you considered a subscriber option on Instagram? Or some other platform? You could do something around supporting young people to create a budget; maybe an exclusive Facebook group? A podcast with you and Nick could be good too? So many options!

    Hey hun…you were putting $4000 total into your mortgage. So with that reduced to $1700, plus your $2400 rent it’s pretty much the same amount you were already putting extra into your mortgage! That might be why you are now in a better situation than you thought because of the extra payment reduction? 🧡🧡

    I used EveryDollar for about 1.5 years early in our debt payoff journey. At the start of 2022 we switched to YNAB and it’s been such a great decision.
    I think it would also eliminate the use of your savings tracker you have. You can do a 34 day free trial but I would say it’s a little bit of a learning curve so I always encourage people to view some of their videos on UA-cam.

      me too! they're my absolute fave to film/watch 🥰 we usually keep our savings for Christmas in our short term savings acct and then transfer when buying something. Then I track using a seperate christmas spreadsheet usually

    Probably blonde question but How does your budget sync with what you actually spend through the month? Has it got connection with your bank account and sync it into categories?

    • @smileycitrus
      @smileycitrus  Рік тому +1

      Definitely not a blonde question! If you have the premium version it does but only the free version is available in Australia. I just manually input everything as I spend

    You mentioned a couple of times about council rates at 2 properties.... you shouldn't be paying council rates at your rental.....

    • @smileycitrus
      @smileycitrus  Рік тому

      sorry, that was me misspeaking! we definitely only pay council rates for the house we own, not the rental

    Why do you calculate weekly expenses for 4 weeks when a month is 4.33 weeks? Especially rent, if your rent is $610 a week, it would be $610x4.33 for the monthly cost.

    • @califlorican
      @califlorican Рік тому

      probably because November only has 4 weeks they need to pay. Another month they probably will have 5 weeks to pay.

    • @smileycitrus
      @smileycitrus  Рік тому +3

      I've replied to this comment of yours before on a previous reset. A lot of our bills and expenses come out monthly or for tightly so we budget for that month. Any months that we have an extra payment we adjust ☺️

      @melissayoutube Рік тому +1

      @@smileycitrus heya, I couldn’t remember if I’d asked or not sorry.
      The most impacted one would be your monthly rent calculation. For example, 4 weeks is 28 days (4x7), so the only month that is actually 4 weeks is February (non leap years). All other months of the year are more than 4 weeks, typically 30 or 31 days. It’s the same for mortgages and rates. That’s why if you’re paying monthly (ie on the first of every month), your landlord/agent will give you a monthly figure and it’s never equal to 4 weeks rent, it’s always slightly more. (Exception, in Singapore they do monthly rents which is an even number, for example $4000 per month, however Australia calculates rent weekly so monthly rent would be an odd number like $2534.54). Even if you are paying rent every 4 weeks (28days) or 2 weeks (14 days), you’ll find that every month you would be a couple days short and would need to make another payment before the month is finished to avoid arrears.
      Calculation wise for budgeting purposes, you need to allow more than 4 weeks worth of rent, because you’re paying more than 4 weeks worth of rent to live there each month.
      There is an exception, which is if you’re working off a weekly budget, and pay rent weekly, for example every week on a Monday, but most people tend to do monthly budgets so need to calculate accordingly. You could even contact your property manager and have them give you the monthly rent figure. Or you could have them give you your daily rent figure and times it by the number of days in the month you’re budgeting.
      I don’t think I’ve gotten my point across well because I’ve just woken up haha, but hope you’ll look into what I’m saying. This calculation is an easy one to overlook and it does add up over the course of 6/12 months.
      That being said, I’ve said my point now and won’t comment this again, I hope the next 6 months is good for you both and that your new home is finished as scheduled so you can get a cute puppy next haha!

      @@califlorican heya, 4 weeks (4x7) is 28, November has 30 days. Every month except for February, on non leap years, is more than 28 days/4weeks.

    • @califlorican
      @califlorican Рік тому

      @@melissayoutube Lol thank you for the calendar lesson. My point is that if you pay for your rent on Fridays and there are only 4 Fridays this month, that's how many times you pay rent. If there are 5 Fridays you pay 5 weeks rent.
