Kankurang Festival du "Bois Sacré", MBour, Senegal, 2003

Every year, in September, young boys in Mande country, West Africa, go into a month-long retreat of 'initiation'. This recording is of the procession escorting the mask (Kankurang) who protects the newly circumcised boys.
