- We are a local lawn and landscaping company based out of Freeburg IL. Family owned/operated and started from the ground up. My brother (Nic) and I (Alex) are doing our best to build a company we will be happy to work in. It has been an adventure and a struggle at times but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! We began our journey on youtube to document our company history and we would be happy to have you along for the ride! We have big dreams and have hardly scratched the surface of where we want to be.

Thank you posting great content and not selling product or hocking promo codes 😂
No problem! Thanks for watching!
I like the blue light to see the salt coming out. I like the different angle shot.
Thanks Gene! The blue light came from Amazon
I'm really digging that blue light
Amazon special 😎
Good stuff. That blue light is an interesting idea. That's another reason I like using colored calcium, because it's easier to see what was done.
Blue light works well! Colored salt is definitely easier to see! Usually more expensive though too
@@nickenslandscapingexcavating True, but it works at lower temps, and is supposed to be less harmful to concrete.
Right, it definitely has its advantages
Great video hope you and your family had a great Christmas
Thanks Logan! We did, same to you and yours!
Nice video! I love the blue light on that thing
Thanks Ben! The blue light works awesome!
Thanks have a safe New year
Same to you!
Nice work / video as always bro happy holidays !
Thanks bro! Same to you!
Alex when you guys use to do bag salt (or still do) how do you go about charging or what do you charge??? any special equations you use???TIA and Happy New Year
$6-$8 per 1,000 sq ft of lot. Walks are extra.
This is a decent general guide. Don’t base everything off of this but if you have no clue where to start this is a good starting point.
Do you guys only use the bobcat for commercial properties?
Yeah, we only service commercial properties.
At any point did you think the LD 13 was too big for that machine?,...Best, Steve
No sir, not on this storm. We only had like 1.5” with some drifts. Time will tell as we get bigger storms.
Typically though our snows are under 5”
Are you guys thinking about adding another skid steer to the fleet in the future
Definitely. We currently have 2 Bobcat t595’s
@Nickens Lawn & Landscape LLC Right on. The 595 series are a tank. Wish Bobcat was still making the S595
Yeah was 1 of them snows they put more salt on roads then it evan snowed lol
Yes it was. Lots of salt and very cold temps
what setting do you keep the auger set at? I have 2 Salt Doggs they work great , I bought karrier controllers for each unit . They are huge upgrade over the factory controllers .
Great Video..
Depending on the storm and traveling speed we are anywhere from 2-5 on the auger. Tell me more about these controllers. I didn’t realize there were more options…
Thanks for chiming in!
@@nickenslandscapingexcavating So my controllers would throw out auger codes , saying its jammed, etc... or would not work at all. So researched and found the karrier company. They make aftermarket dial controllers and Ive never had a problem and I only run treated salt . Matter of fact my newest one came with a blast button , and a option for pre wet. I took pics of them, but I'm terrible on computers and have no clue how to send them lol.
Huh, that is interesting. I will have to check them out! I do know that salt dogg came out with a new controller and it is supposed to have all of that. And it’s digital I believe. But it’s like $700
How is the salt in the tracks do you have any severe rusting in rollers and tracks thanks
We do not. Just have to clean the machines right away. We put fluid film on everything that gets near salt
How come you guys use the truck lights when plowing and not the plow lights?
We typically do. Something was acting up on our 3500 preventing the plow lights from working.
@@nickenslandscapingexcavating makes sense that’s why I love boss plow the ability to switch from plow lights to truck lights in an emergency
What type of contracts do you guys prefer?
-Per push per salt
-Seasonal Budget
-Plow per hour
90% of ours is per push/salt. I like that best, you get paid for what you do. But seasonal is good too if priced right.
@@nickenslandscapingexcavating same here. I never understood by the hour unless it’s just a side hustle
A lot of people around here do by the hour. It works for them. But that’s usually the guys with an old truck and a 7’ straight blade. I can get done in an hour what would take them 4-5 hours lol
