  • What a magical night! Honestly, I don't think there is much more to say...
But I’ll find something anyway! It's a surprise to some that we do get the southern lights in Tasmania, but we do on a semi-regular basis. Nights this spectacular are pretty few and far between though...
I did get the wrong settings for a lot of the shots unfortunately, F9 was too narrow... but when you are caught up in the moment these things happen, and I'm so please with how some of these turned out!

Thanks so much guys! I was definitely incredibly lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
It's part of what I'm enjoying about having this channel, I might not have gone out if I wasn't thinking that this might make a good video... and I'm so glad I did!
Have you guys found that with yours? Or are you constantly out and about anyway :P

@@palebluedot3192 Absolutely! 😃 We definitely are going out more with the intention of making a video. I think we are trying harder to find & record stuff we would normally have just taken for granted.

That definitely something I've found too! I so often walked past the common species, or those I felt I had a good shot of already...

@@palebluedot3192 Perth - Western Australia. Was wild to see it with a crowd, everyone gasped when it peaked haha such a great experience. I saw my first in March, i thought that was good however last weekend was obviously the storm of the decade.

Greetings from the northern hemisphere! Nice to see some Aurora Australis instead of Aurora Borealis for a change. You got quite different chasing conditions there 😄

      Gday from down under! :P
They are definitely quite rare here, I've been looking forward to that changing with the solar maximum for some time now. Interesting that we have different chasing conditions, why do you say that? :)

@@palebluedot3192 Yeah, I too been waiting for this increase in solar activity.
By different conditions I mean that it seemed to be quite warm in there while I'm used to freeze my butt off here while chasing 🥶😄

@@raahensalophotography Sounds like you must have some wild nights! That can add to the atmosphere if nothing else :P
XD We definitely get our fair share of icy conditions in winter, but I guess we are far enough north that it gets reasonably warm in summer and doesnt get dark too late, but far enough south that we actually see the aurora :)

@@palebluedot3192 I’m travelling to Tasmania in a few weeks and hoping to get the opportunity to try and capture some Aurora shots (fingers crossed). Failing that, at least there’s no shortage of beautiful scenery to capture!

I’ve seen quite a few notifications of active aurora pop up recently! so you might get lucky :)
I find the BOM notifications to be quite accurate!
Where are you going? there is so much to see!
