@@johnsguitarmusicanddemos I ended up returning the guitar. So I didn't keep it long enough to answer your question. I was uncomfortable with the pickup selector angle and location. Seems like a silly reason, but there are too many guitars in the world to be uncomfortable at all. If it had a normal angled switch, it would have been a keeper for me.

I love the way this guitar looks, especially the blue one. The main reason I don't have one is because I have a kramer 1984 from 2012, which I don't know if it has the same specs than the current 1984, but in their website it says the SM and the 84 share the same neck profile. I can't stand the profile on my guitar, if that's their "slim taper" god only knows what they would call thick. Great review as always man.

That guitar is absolutely beautiful, and unbelievably light, I haven't been interested in Kramer before, this has me thinking otherwise. So you sold all your other Kramers, even the one you liked the best?

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  3 роки тому +2

Thanks MacCauley, yes, sadly I sold them all. Other than the white one, they were bought used and were lemons. Heavy, bad frets. The new white one was extremely heavy or I would have kept it. To fret them all would have been expensive. And I don't like heavy guitars. So it wasn't worth keeping them. I wanted the money for other gear. This one is awesome, I'll never sell it.

I have thought about making a video about my World War 2 scars!!! No, I'm not that old, on a visit to the Channel Island when I was a kid I discovered some tank mines from the German occupation that had been uncovered by unusual tidal movements.... something like that? They were in the mouth of a bay and obscured by a few inches of water,....I stepped on one of the rusty bits of metal and fell forward taking a chunk out of my shin which needed lots of stitches😵
I wasn't the only one that got hurt and they found that there was four of them encased in concrete across the mouth of this little bay on the island called Guernsey. The concrete footings were very large and deep with those metal triggers sticking out of them to stop tanks, or in this case landing crafts I guess. The authorities decided that they needed to be removed and decided to use small explosive charges as the bay is very difficult to get to with specialist digging gear. They set up charges on one and detonated it and it was still live/active which exploded and it set off two of the remaining 3 as they were also still active!
I was mentioned on the local island news and was in the local paper too.
((As we were extensively bombed during the war I remember in my childhood bombs always being found when developments were ongoing, even one of my grandparents in Portsmouth had a bomb unearthed years later in their back garden (yard) when I was a kid.
i still remember there being a lot of bomb-sites on the outskirts of Portsmouth that took a long time to redevelop,... because of lack of money still several decades after the war. Portsmouth was, and still is, a big Navy base and was obviously heavily targeted.
As a nation we only recently finished paying off the money we had to borrow to help rebuild our country... i Just looked it up, last installment of loan was paid in December 2006.))
Blah blah blah....Anyway, I have a rather prominent scar on my right shin which is also a big dent which I call my War Wound😁

I was waiting for the bridge and neck configuration and the all pick up sounds... This is what the push pull on the volume is for. To activate the humbucker regardless of the switch configuration. You can also spit the humbucker and single coil it and use the push pull for all possible pick up confuguration..

Tricia likes Rugby and Tennis and I like a bit of motor sports. Twenty five years ago one of my younger brothers was in the top 2 under 14s tennis players in the UK and was accepted to an American college....but got a nasty shoulder injury which finished that possible career permanently...he now lives in Australia and teaches mathematics! One of my other brothers was also in the top 2 in his class of motor racing....but when he got into his late twenties he was considered too old and struggled to retain his sponsorship!

@@HankCoffey no change here really except Tricia has a couple of job interviews coming up soon which she's excited and anxious/terrified about. They're both at the university where she currently works. There's a lot of research and time needed for preparation.... especially for one of them which will have a significant panel of interviews as it's a professional post.
One pays a lot more money and is non-proffessional, and the other pays ok and would re-introduce her to a job in her professional field.
When she was made redundant five years ago the only reasonable job she could get was working in admin at Southampton university only a few miles away....but now a professional post has opened up at the university's library.
She has a first class honours degree from Manchester University in "Librarianship and Information Technology Services" and then a couple of years later also passed the exams to become chartered and is part of CILIP... Certified institute of Librarianship and Information Professionals ....or something like that. She gets a monthly magazine/journal which is impossible to understand....being a professional information/librarian specialist is far far far harder than it sounds. She's been published in that professional journal twice!
The job that she was made redundant from(because everything moved geographically, and she didn't want to move halfway across the country...plus the redundancy payout in cash was ok and cleared half of our mortgage) was working for our government's Home Office....she was a Librarian for The National Police College and Training library,...which is predominantly academic. It is a bit like a university with student accommodation and police from all over the country and all over the world would come to study many different things like law, criminal profiling, anti-terrorism protocol, forensics and lots of other stuff. When she left she had been promoted through the ranks to "The" Librarian (not just "a" librarian) and was in charge of the budget and staff and talked frequently to Interpol, our secret services and the FBI and CIA,.. arranging conferences, courses and the like. The academic and other databases that they used were enormous....one cost over $50,000 a year!!!
Anyway, it would be so great to see her use her professional skills again. That's one of the main reasons for taking the job at the university, as a "foot in the door" to a professional post. Unfortunately, since this particular government got elected in 2010 there's been tons of spending cuts in the "the public sector" which means less library's and less people to run them which is a massive shame..so it's taken a bit longer than usual for professional posts to open up. Most people don't realise that Google just can't replace her skills! .... trying to read the monthly journal testifys to that....I don't understand any of it and I'm academically leaning.
      So, Fingers crossed 😁

I had the Orange colored Kramer Assault Plus with Seymour Duncan’s. Absolutely perfect. We have some same concerns, I love light weight guitars. Mine has series to parallel vs a coil split, the theory is you get single coil sound with no hum.
