Congrats on this beautiful new handbag!! It looks absolutely perfect. I totally understand the obsession with Hermes (tho I do not think I'll ever have a Birkin ...). But when I visited the new Hermes store at Melbourne recently and had the chance to feel and touch the small leather goods, I totally understand why they come at a premium. The leather, and workmanship is at a completely different level. Their products are absolutely amazing.

Regarding importing - the GST also is on the shipping costs and there is a Stamp Duty fee on top of that again (which they also add another 10% on), so you do have to add more than 10% on the prices when you do your mental calculations. I found this out when I imported my first bag from FF too - the import fees were much more than just the 10% extra.

I just love buying preloved birkins especially in that type leather becuase i love the Slouchiness of the bag. For it builds character and i fall in love with the bag. When i got my brikin i got it preloved becuase i fell in love with it(mine was orange but in the same leather and stiching). Even though i got offered on in store by one of my SA. I just got the feeling of getting the preloved bag rather than the new one. Congrats on purchase and keep the content going.

So someone correct me if I’m wrong... but if you walk into a Hermès boutique, you can only buy a Birkin or a Kelly if an SA offers one to you? So does that mean if someone says can I buy one, they say no? Or do they say we are all out sorry? And then, can you only purchase the one they offer you? Or once they offer it then you can pick the size and color you want?
11JadeStone11 they will usually say they don’t have any available and if you build a relationship with an SA they might put you on a waiting list or offer you one. Some people are lucky on their first try if an SA is in a good mood and you’re nice haha but that’s rare
With that process you know the bags have to be exclusive to keep the value up if you can deny a person a bag that has the money. Any other luxury retailer would keep adding on pieces to get you to purchase more... not tell you they were out.
