- It's a genuine treat to have a CLK coupe in stock, and particularly a V8 model - the convertibles are in plentiful supply down here in sunny Naples, but the coupes are a bit harder to come by. This was an important car from Mercedes-Benz, and represented a change in build philosophy that the company needed to make if they were going to grow and stay competitive with many new challengers. Long story short, it worked - the car was very successful, sold well, and is continued to be enjoyed by enthusiasts and daily drivers alike. Please watch the video to find out more.

Just picked up an '05with 77k miles. Same color combo. Love the review, and boy, has this car grown on me quickly! 'If a punk kid in a Mustang 5 liter pulls up next to you, you can quickly dispatch him' 😅😅😅😅..very true...I've done it, and it felt great
Which model do you have ?? I have the Elegance, 2004 and I love it to bits, bought it with 72K on the clock and now has 92k .....had it 6 years now and yes it has cost me money to keep it in tip top condition but so worth it ...ORSM Car 🙂

Love the review dude, I've had mine going on 2 months now and I love it to pieces, when I got it that was the 2nd best day of my life (my children is first) but yeah mine is an '04 CLK500 Elegance and in the next few weeks I'll be upgrading my exhaust to a true twin exhaust so it can flow and really roar how a nice v8 should 😁

I have a CLK500 AMG coupe. 0-60 is 4.6 sec. Mine also doesnt have the Nav head. Love my car! Its the best sleeper ever! Nice quiet clean car, but mine has exhaust dump so when some punk tuner is annoying me with his noise, I open my headers and blow his mind!!! LOVE THAT OPTION!!!! Great car!!!

It's a car that does not look fast but when some punk thinks he's got a fast car, you can open it up and blow his mind. That IS A SLEEPER and I am not a Dude LOL... @@warrenpeas if someone is not familiar with Mercedes - then AMG doesnt mean anything to them and this is just a plain little white 2 door coupe, very nondescript. It's quiet until I open the exhaust and launches from the line like a rocket - I'm a 50 year old woman with a little white coupe - totally a sleeper. CLK500 comes with the AMG package (emblems, exhaust tips, floor mats, suspension, brakes, etc) so while its not recognized as an AMG car per se, it still has all the AMG stuff including the same drivetrain that comes in the 500SL. Fun, fast, lighter than the SL but no, not a CLK55 which is the first true AMG car...
@@dianacampbell8381 ok but everyone with a fast car knows what AMG stands for and you wouldn't ever likely show it's speed too anyone else . To non car people a Tesla is a sleeper and Tesla's definitely dont fit that description.

Great video as usual. As you pointed the instrument cluster does not fit for the sport coupe and manual gear would be lovely. It look like luxury sports idea in early 70’s in US.
0-60 in under 5 seconds are you out of your mind? Its more like 5.9-6 seconds
yeah but look at 60-100 its about 6 seconds thats faster than my old maserati 4200. thats basically fast as anything like an m3 etc 0-60 times are pretty irrelevant nowadays as the wall of air you hit at around 60 mph, look up some quarter mile times if you think you are in its league, for instance the new m4 with 431hp is only just under 2 seconds quicker between 60 and 100
looking it up it looks like it is 5.2 0-60 and 13.7 for the quarter mile. it does have 302 horsepower and even more torque without much weight so id believe the time.

@@louisk6485 The C32 AMG with the supercharged V6 has quite a bit more power than the CLK500, would that be a better pick for someone after performance?
@@TassieLorenzo well it has 50 more horsepower, torque is about the same. You can tune an M113 (NA) engine to have the same power and even more torque for a couple $k. Also, v8 rumble vs v6. So personally, I'd take the 500 engine any day. But the C32 AMG might be a better drive experience...
Also don't forget that you can get a CLK 55 AMG, which is still NA, but it's the mighty 5.4 M113 :)

Just bought an 05 convertible. Love it, wish the v8 had a liiiittle more power but that's okay.
Man, mine has the 2.6L V6 and it already feels fast enough for me.

Hi bill I just bought the exact same car, Silver I am thinking about giving it a new paint job in silver, What is the best paint for this particular mercedesin silver? Also , should I go to the dealer and have it or a body shop ?
What do you think about the gearbox? I have the clk200 kompressor with the 5g trans and it seems a little slow/cruiser like. I want to get the clk500 m113 but the m273 is with the 7g trans, which i've heard is a lot sportier and more fitting.
The 5g is a stronger transmission, so I would be happy with that. 7g feels a little like regenerative braking when you come off the gas pedal, some people don't like that feeling.
Should I get one? Only $4000 with 125k on it in good shape
your clk 500 dont have cdout in open so if im nog mistaken it should have cd changer somewhere in the car
It was actually visible in the glove box :).
The back windows do have to roll down, cus then the back passengers could breathe not bake in a Honda coupe
I like the beeping, lets you know if you left the keys in the ignition or left the headlights on. What I hate is when some kid gets a hold of one of these and completely trashes the interior and or exterior with Chinese made aftermarket mods
Does a head unit count has chinese aftermarket mod? I want to install one in mine because there's no other way to get good audio, since there's no aux jack, bluetooth or even a cassette deck.
@@TopiasSalakka You could purchase a Bluetooth transmitter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. I have one I use for the delivery truck at work since the stock radio is only AM/FM. The one I use can BT music off your phone, USB stick, or by a cord. Mines a 2002 clk500 with satvav Bose speakers heated seats standard these mercs are slowly going up in price in the uk love mine to bits 😁🤪

Yep the early ones are clk55 amg, then a little later clk63. But the 05 clk55 is the most reliable and is very rare only about 247 coupes made. Plus it's a updated model with duel quads out back larger breaks front and back, 200mph speedo and a hole lot more upgrades.

What the hell. Somone boaught a CLK500 eithout the Avantgard trim. How is tha possible. The dash is uspposed to be aluminum not black plastic
@Racionator Avantgarde and Sport models had the option of Aluminium (Aluminum as you Yanks say)or Black Ash.
Personally I find the Aluminum a bit tacky looking. However, it does suit the Sport model.
