The best video on the HF3520 I've seen. Thank you! I just ordered one of these today. I work night shifts and have my room completely blacked out, so I need a sunrise simulator to make sure I don't sleep my day away. Great video, quality content. Thank you
Wow, thank you! I bought this on eBay and downloaded a manual, but I was getting nowhere with it. Fine public service here, even five years after you made the video.
I'm really glad you did this tutorial. Mine arrived today and after unboxing .... the set up manual was thick textbook size! You gave me hours of my life back, thank you!
Thank you. This was very helpful. I found the written instructions completely confusion, but I was able to set my unit up easily while following your instructions.
Thank you so much for this how to! Phillips should pay you! I wasn't able to follow the simplistic directions it came with, thought oh send it back. It was a splurge item for me, but living in a dark apt., figured it might be a good thing for me to have. Figuring it wasn't for me and just send it back, I looked up how to set it up and saw your video. Very helpful, thanks!
Just opened the box that arrived today and couldn´t find the energy to read instructions. But thankś to you I will now go and set it up :) Good work - thanks!
This is in the manual: The alarm 1 or alarm 2 icon flashes on the display when the alarm is snoozed. If you press either the FM button, the fall-asleep button or the MENU button while the alarm sound is playing, the alarm stops and is not snoozed. If you press the alarm button while the alarm sound is playing, you disable the alarm function. The alarm icon disappears from the display. To reactivate alarm function, press the alarm button again. Then you'll hit the light button to turn off the light
How long does the snooze last before you hear sound again? Also what happens with the light when you set two alarms? Say you set your first alarm for 7am and then one for 7:15. The light will adjust starting at whatever time and by 7am will be at it's brightest setting. Does the light then turn off and start over for 7:15? or is the second alarm just for sound and light doesn't effect it?
I have this device. It works pretty good but I had to tape some little signs on the face so that I could easily find the right hard buttons, otherwise you're fumbling for them.
how did you managed to do it ? Mine only works with radio Note: You can listen to the FM radio during the fall-asleep function. Turn on the radio and select your favorite station. Then press the fall-asleep button to activate the fall-asleep function. The sound of the radio will gradually fade during the set fall-asleep time. If you turn on the radio after activating the fall-asleep function, the sound does not fade when the light dims. The sound will stop when the light goes out.
can't you adjust the wake up time duration? i think you forgot to cover that feature... If you set your alarm for 8am you could have the light come on more more slowly (say 30 minutes so the first sign of light would be at 7:30) or more fast.
Great video as I just unboxed today. I read so many descriptions and they do a great job telling you what you want to hear. So what I don't get is , Do I have to push alarm button on very night? For alarm 2 for do I have to turn off alarm 1 and turn on alarm 2? My old alarm clock can be set by the day, so different day , different time no problem. I have had for 10 years and have never had to touch it since originally set. Hard to believe this does not have that capability
Thanks for the video. We have one of these and it’s great. Does anyone know how to set the duration of the ‘sun up’ feature? (The length of time over which the light gradually increases brightness until the alarm time?)
I know its been years but I'm hoping you can help me answer this question since I cant find the demonstration anywhere. When you wake up in the morning how do you turn the alarm off? If you hit the alarm button it will not start again tomorrow as it sets off the alarm entirely. Do you have to hit the alarm button twice then every morning? Once to turn it off and again to set it up for next morning?
I don't have it anymore, but you try the lamp button on the top (I think). If it has to be the alarm button just hit it twice so you turn it off and then on again right then
I have watched several reviews on this product and not one describes how much light it produces. I am kinda happy it does not connect to my phone............it is almost as if someone found old new stock from the 80's :)
I just received mine and it is not user friendly neither is the manual that comes with it in my opinion. I cannot get it out of military time instead of 8:38 for example it says the time is 2038 and I can't seem to change it even in menu and when I press select it won't let me change anything please advise
seems only radio works Note: You can listen to the FM radio during the fall-asleep function.
How is the Snooze button? I have a glowing Philips clock, too, but it's a smaller model. The Snooze button on mine is a touch sensor instead of a physical button, and I have a frustrating time hitting it just right. I end up smacking the top repeatedly until it recognizes my hand. Also, does yours have a battery back-up for when the power goes out? Mine doesn't, so I have to use my cell phone just in case. I find using my phone defeats the purpose of the alarm clock.
Unfortunately Philips decided not to put battery backups for lower models, HF3500 and 3505. I have one of them too, and sometimes I wake up to darkness with phone backup like you. This is really inexcusable, just put a 2032 slot to keep up time and alarm settings. It cannot light up from battery, but many alarm clocks have backups and they simply buzz when alarm goes off in a blackout. How can they exclude this from such expensive products?
Just unboxed mine, figured out all of the functions but was fretting over where the sleep feature was hiding...in plain sight! (I thought that was a snooze button) thank you for this walk thru!
Is there any way to keep the light on passed the alarm time? I want the highest intensity light to keep shining until I am out of bed, not just until the alarm time is up.
I ordered mine and my package got stolen. I wish there is a way to have second alarm to go off on certain days when you are off work and have it set up to wake you up later on in the day/morning. Thank you for this video!
researching this a lot lately. Can't decide on this or the trending Sunrise Smart Pillow which includes 18 features for the same price. Looks like what they said is right, the tech industry is changing fast. this clock looks great too
Is there no way to darken the display of the clock itself? It seems like having that light shine into your room all night would decrease the quality of your sleep.
I set up mine and woke up from natural light and mine never light up or even clock started. Disappointed, checked the video and did everything right. Even sound alarm did not go off
I just got one and the buttons on the right side of the rim dont work... Anyone else have this problem and fix it? Id rather not have to return and wait for anotherrr
thanks, but wish you would talk about 1. how to set clock (as it just prompts when its first purchased, didnt see anything in Manual for setting clock), 2. Setting 12 hours vs 24 hours. How confusing!! OMG, I called PHillips today. 2 reps, on phone 35 minutes didnt have answers. No one could answer: why it is set in Military time. Who wants to wake up ? 0800 hours or 1200 hours? (clueless what this is), so, she said "do 12 hours" /why am i setting a clock to run 12 hours. Phillips rep laughed and said "i dont know, just reading our manual'. Who designed this? So, I guess 12 hours gIVES you AM or PM, 24 hours doesnt. (you didnt mention this), trying to save someone else angst of this set up. Poor design! 3. How do you get various sounds, you whipped thru that. That "bird'. icon, shows up, but where is other sounds? 5. I used level 1 for bird (i still dont know how to get other nature sounds) and on LEVEL 1 i thought a bird sanctuary was in my bedroom today. 6. How to you get slow graduating sounds from llite chirp bird, or soft ocean wave (if i can tfind it) does this do slow graduating sounds as 'sound machines' do in stores? SO many questions. Thank you!! Extremely helpful. Best instructional video on this clock that I've seen. I don’t know why it has to be so difficult to set😆

Thank you! So simply confusing! I really appreciated your help.
The two I bought just arrived. Thanks for helping me with setup.
Thanks so much, I couldn’t figure out how to set mine up. 😄
How do you turn off the alarm in the morning so that you don't have to reset the alarm every evening?
This is in the manual:
The alarm 1 or alarm 2 icon flashes on the display when the alarm is snoozed. If you press either the FM button, the fall-asleep button or the MENU button while the alarm sound is playing, the alarm stops and is not snoozed. If you press the alarm button while the alarm sound is playing, you disable the alarm function. The alarm icon disappears from the display. To reactivate alarm function, press the
alarm button again.
Then you'll hit the light button to turn off the light

I have this device. It works pretty good but I had to tape some little signs on the face so that I could easily find the right hard buttons, otherwise you're fumbling for them.
Thank you so much !! This was so simple to follow!!! 👏🏼
is it possible to listen to natural sounds while using the

I JUST received my alarm clock and for some reason, I don't hear the preview of the "bird" icon... do you have any clue what could be happening?
Does this not have a way to just set the alarm from Mon-Fri and have weekends turned off? Or do I have to manually shut it off on Friday?
