PLEASE talk about money more often, within reason. It's like the one part of the industry I've always wanted to know more about.
Definitely. Like I'm dying to know, how much money does a pro typically make? Where do they get paid from and how much from each source? I'm constantly wondering how these people can afford to not only just skate all day but also get new cars and whatnot.
@Jacob Rubio Nike pros make millions and only a couple relax
@@BonesDMS4life yeah other than like nyjah and shane most of them don't make millions
@@tokyosodapop and Paul
When they were talking about package deal I think it boils down to a few big parent companies. I also wonder how often they were getting checks in. Was he getting a 6500 dollar check in weekly or monthly
The ES team in Argentina, I cant remember if it was 98 o 99, first Koston signs me the transworld with the BSNoseBlunt in hubba hideout, later i broked my board and he give me a board (with 3 different types of griptape on, in the middle a very thick one with the girl logo - thats inspired me a lot!) when the Es team goes Eric throw me that pair from the Van, that day was awesome!
Y guardaste esa tabla?
Yo u legend low key
this story is sick!!
Man I was there when Liston bsnb Jubba my homies brother and i, epic af!
Kelly Hart pull some strings and get those bad boys reissued.
for real tho
And preferably not a slim version, haha
And get some royalties for Creager...
And the koston 3’s
Love that generation of skateboarding 90s early 2000s
Touché
Same with rap, i dont feel the new stuff. Soul is gone, same as with skating
Golden age. So glad thats when I grew up skating
Ronnie was way ahead of his time man. still so underrated.
Not underrated in the least.
When is the reissue happening? One of the best shoes. Let’s get Ronnie some more paychecks.
Totally on board with that idea!
I would definitely get it.
@@whatyouseewhatyouget3021 You literally make no sense. Thinner shoes offer less protection for ankles, not more. And rolling your ankles is 80% in how you skate and walk / jump / land. Being lightfooted and accepting a fall and rolling out of it, is a lot better than forcing a land, missing the board and getting your ankle messed up. In reality, what shoes you wear matters very VERY little when it comes to rolling ankles.
Those were the best shoes to skate in
@@whatyouseewhatyouget3021 yeah man gonna have to disagree with you on that one, skated everything from vans sk8 hi pros to és Accel OGs and fat shoes result in less injury 100% of the time
I was flow for Sole Tech back when these came out Creager was my favorite skater and I loved those shoes. I got tons of free pairs and all kinds of unreleased color ways. Best shoes ever! I met him at a demo dude is awesome
@@gyrate98hater
I wanted that shoe so bad but never got it. I had it circled in about 4 years worth of CCS catalogs. Such a nice shoe
I had a Jeron Wilson's DVS, white and brown and those were lit!!!! And amazing to skate
The Creager and the Muska, were THE dopest Skateshoes. Have to get them somehow.
imagine hearing Prod,Shane O'Neil, and Nyjah Huston talk about checks....
Minutia. If you employ a financial team to deal with it you don’t have to talk about it.
They all.got Nike checks for a million signing bonus
@@solefood7477 my whole point

Definitely miss the shoes from 2002-2011 when I was skating they lasted way longer, I tried some slim shoes in 2011 and they lasted about 2 months compared to the 5--7 months.
u can’t feel shit though
I'm wanting to try out Asics.
Ronnie is so chill
One of a fav shoe. I had the grey with red and than the white with blue trim. Only things about em is the reflectors on the rear comes off easy.
Should do a talk about the standards and levels AMS and pros are at, how hard it is to get into the industry , how you can be replaced.at a finger snap etc. Skating is at a ridiculous level right now.
Can we all agree this was THE MOST INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE SHOE EVER! That thing was so freakin’ padded internally and protective!!
Hmmm. Never skated them. You make them sound better than my old DC sponsored shoes😅 Been skating since 98😅
All the old goodies from és👌🏻 scheme and what not cant remember the names now almost 20 years later😆 dont think they would feel nice to skate today tho
@@Makabert.Abylon I feel like Ronnie’s model would still be really comfortable to skate in although pretty thick/cushiony… Do you remember the eS EOS??? Such a random short-lived shoe from that company! But I loved them. A bit thinner and less padded for sure
@@dexgray4581 yeah it could probably be pretty nice to skate in even these days 😃 i had to look them up recognized the name, they look 🔥 not sure if i ever had a pair
@@corrd3llnobody cares
To be fair, Jeron got his pro model when DVS started pumping out kook shoes.
growing up skating in Socal during this era was fun. I've run into Creager a few times at random spots (mostly schools) and we'd always be blown away at the tricks he was recording. I remember one ledge my friends and I were having trouble getting on and he shows up and nose blunts it with his photographer in 2 tries.
I remember when I got a pair it was also white and royal blue and had some reflective trim on it I think also they came with royal blue laces that were straight gas I remember going to skate camp with a fresh pair and everyone was loving them.
eS Creagers were my first 'real' skate shoe. Glad he was getting taken care of back then
I had 2 pairs of Creagars (black and yellow colorway was sick), good bit more comfortable than Kostons (still have this Green/Black/White colorway pair) during that era. The Creagers had the air bubble where Kostons did not...
I loved the creagers, Ronnie was my fav skater back then but I will say the Koston 2's were awesome because they felt more precise with flicks, the koston 1 was derivitive compared to the 2.
I still have a brand new pair of Jeron Wilson 2 dvs in white black and green.
My first video I’ve ever bought was the blind what if back in middle school. So nostalgic to think about.
The olive green Creager shoe is still my favourite skate shoe I ever skated. The brown accel is a close 2nd.
Cool to hear shoe business talk!
The Gavin CTs, I had 3 pair. Great shoe
Still have my DVS Jeron Wilson 2s black white with green soles. And the Diamond x dvs Jerons
I had quite a few Ronnie Creager Blind boards. The best shoes that were actually made to be skate shoes were some Mark Gonzales ones made by Adidias. They were indestructible so ,of course, they stopped making them quick. Now I always get regular Shelltoes because they are my favorite.
I remember varial flipping off the small love ledge in Philly being hyped then my boy comes up off the large ledge and does a hardflip late frontside shoveit. Fuckn crazy at the time in 2000
This was my favorite shoe, except that it didn't grip well so at a park if you missed your board you were slipping out for sure. When I skated for DVS (flow) I would only skate the stealth.
I once smoke a fat blunt with Ronnie amazing skater that was back in 1999 in San Diego great skater one word ..."legend"
Good looking on getting Ronnie on here. Great guy. Great skateboarder.
I skated with creager when I was 13… didn’t know he was a pro at the time. Just me and him at the Tempe skate park. Cool memory.
“PAY YOUR TAXES!” -Chad Muska
So glad Roger is off-camera now 😂
Holy shit 6500 per month? You def could set yourself up with some savvy
It really isn’t that much if you think about it. That’s $78,000 a year excluding 40% for taxes is $46,000.
@@IsthisMike Closer to $55k after deductions. No where close to 40% taxes. Tax rate would be around 21%.
@@IsthisMike when taking inflation into mind it’s closer to about $120k in today’s value which is pretty damn good honestly!
@@harperperry744
21% in California?
@@IsthisMike you should probably get someone else to do your taxes

I remember my older brother saved his money and he had my dad call up CCS and order him a complete , it was the Blind : Ronnie Creager Mix Master deck with Titan Ti-Lite trucks , Spitfire classic wheels (Small) , and Independent griptape with the little iron cross logo cut out .
The deck graphic had a little DJ wearing headphones scratching records on it .
This was way back , circa 98 .
That was my first real deck, grew up in Tustin ca
@@nickkerr5714
It was a popular deck , we were in Salem , NH
@@Chames_Chaikowski My first real deck in Brisbane Australia - that thing was magic. Was almost too scared to boardslide.
His eS shoe was an amazing shoe
One of my favorites. Rob D. DC Ten shoe
TELL US HOW MUCH YOU WERE MAKING!! 😓 Mikey Taylor said at his height he was getting like 250k a year or something
Ronnie Creager!! absolute legend
Supposedly James Craig racked up crazy credit card bills back in the day at Dave & Busters, probably with Ronnie lol.
so hyped for the fall, I want the Creager and Muska re-issue.
Is Jeron saying $6500 a month? Per week? Per year?
Mobth
Bought some used boards from Ronnie at Trabuco Hills High School probably around 1995.
"probably" "maybe" "I don't know" lmao
Where are they getting these vintage shoes?? Does ‘es have a bunch of classic shoes somewhere in the back of storage.
The DVS DRESDEN in any color way was the shit. Especially the wake boarder Dresdens. But I was lucky enough for Mikey Taylor to gift me the DVS/MATIX DRESDEN DENIM shoe. I still got them in the original box. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
One of the best shoes ever is the Ronnie Creager eS'. We need a reissue! For ourselves for Ronnie. Let's get him paid!
It was reissued months ago and it sold out in a day es site and skate sites
@@victorperfecto7472 I know. I bought two pairs ☺️
@@pressureflipin1992 i missed the imitial reissue. Im preparing for the spring launch
Now this topic caught my attention ! I’ve always wanted to know how PROS/ AM’s get paid 👍
get john cardiel on the show
I remember getting a new pair of eS and the smell was something else. Nothing like the smell of a new legendary skate shoe
I got what I ask for ! I wanted a creager interview!
What would Janoski get for his shoe ?🤔
Millions
Great beer Jeron!
more numerical details please
Marc Johnsons shoe was incredible
That shoe was sooooo dope. If it got re released today I would definitely cop it again.
The full white soft leather one with light blue accent was one of the best skate shoes ever
OG tech god right here. some of the butteriest fs tails in the game.
Imagine muska paychecks back then ..
Creager lookin like Roger's dad
I got gifted a pair of worn Creager shoes when I was a kid The white with red accents. They were beat to hell but I loved em'
God damn I love those kicks
I also had the wilson 5 girl collaboration shoe in brown
I remember having a DC shoe around that time. Lasted me 3 months lol. Sole ripped off.
That's pretty dam Good I go through a pair every two to three weeks
Shoe's are so flimsy now. Skateboardings too expensive these days with shoes ripping after 2 sessions
@@dgod6715 Jesus Christ, I wouldnt be buying anything outside of Walmart shoes if that was the case lol... Though for skating I prob wouldnt be doing that anyway, even as casually as I skate now (just started again after years)
@@wetcrumb2191 yeah i hear you, especially if you feel you need 50+ dollar shoes. I dont care if the shoes fall apart if I can skate with 20 dollar shoes lol
@@hi_tech_reptiles I skate hard every day tho
Still have Emerica Reynolds dark purple one.
I still have those shoes from almost 23 years ago
This is why its impprtant to discuss pay amongst your peers. People get taken advantage of.
In the 4th grade I Got a pair of the blue and white Muskas with a secret stash pocket in the tongue that had a boom box necklace...never will I be that excited about a shoe again
6k is decent today, so 6k back in the early 2k's...
Great story
I wod like to hear how they make Adio Bam V.2
First pro model I got blind ronnie creager popsickle, 7.56 lifestyle
Back in em days. 6500 was like 10,000-11,000 😮
He always has a hat on my whole life yo 😆
Why do skate brands not care about making high quality shoes anymore nor good silhouettes like they just gave up on being the leaders in footwear
Cutting corners for profit.
Man the sad part about skateboarding is that the community doesn’t pull in a bunch of revenue for the talented. Rob Dyrdek has done more for making skaters money than just about anyone. It’s an art though and artists love it because of the experience. But we all gotta live. I love skateboarding and I’ll be damned if I don’t so something to move this forward.
Hehe see crob suffering when he is pushed out of track when kelly ask questions about the design shit. Finally crob got to the point and got the answer about the paychecks digits. Fuck yeah thats what viewers are interested in xD i love how crob collects that damn info
was it $6,000 every month??
That shoes still looks good, they could sell the hell out of those
Haha rog. I had the Anderson twice! lol
Ronnie: "After my career, I wanted any sort of job at Blind."
Also Ronnie: "I don't know or remember how a single thing in this industry works."
I don’t claim then for not hiring him. Seems to have very little grasps on shit
it pisses me off. like they already got their foot in the door so they assume their name should suffice as employment. sorry you gotta quit playing skateboards for a living & rejoin the working ranks.
To be fair, I don't know/remember is also what you say when you don't want to dish specific details to the whole world
it was so long ago, what could be said to jeopardize anything in the past or out anybody but themselves unless it’s just embarrassing to let people know they blew their bank accounts
There should be a skateboard workers union. So that it's not only 10 guys in a whole industry that get paid well. Collective bargaining would help so that this money could be more fairly distributed. People say there is no money in skating then why did Nike, addidas, and billabong buy ever brand? 🤔
Unions ruin most industries. Some people work harder than others. it would not be fair to those guys that do work hard. I do think these sponsors should pay out more however the profit margins are so thin in skateboarding. Shoes are what really holds the glue together for this industry.
shawn white the flying tomato
I always like to know what there were getting paid
When jeron said $6500 is that per month? Per 2 week period? Per quarter?
I had this question as well. Im assuming per month, which doesnt actually sound like that much, but if yoou take into account inflation being about 150% since 2000, it's actually more like 10,000 a month, which is pretty good, especially considering these are young people getting paid to do what they love
@@modularmoon No taxes taken though so you have to pay a lot in taxes -- not just the income but also SSI and medicare which at a regular job your employer pays. On the other hand they can deduct basically everything as a business expense... $.51/mile when driving from home to eS, etc. etc.
@@modularmoon yep! It would be hard not to be hyped with 2.5k a week for free shoes that you love.
These figures they talking about weekly?
Shout out dubs with the space dust!
So they say a base number (6500$) for a cheque. It means FUCK ALL if you don’t say frequency. I’m assuming bi-weekly.
So thats 150K / year
they said "monthly check" before that plus some got quarterly. I thought it would have been more
6.5k in 1999 is 12k now
Pro skaters still won’t talk about pay, it’s not like they’ve opened up about it recently. It’s a weird topic that’s unspoken
Omg I love this shoe!!!
What is he’s setup?
MA402's...terrible quality but one I wish they could bring back
Those shoes are so clean! Es put penny back on so I know they can pull some strings for Ronnie !

Much is beagle getting paid?! He is baker and deserves much
Creager has the same facial mannerisms as Rog.

$6k monthly? 2x/month? Weekly?
