Very true. If you Take small steps that are so easy to achieve, there is no excuse why you can't do that and build on it

crazy conicdence that i also dropped a video to this echoing this same sentiment on new years day, people love to wait until a specific time period date, day, month, week to make things happen rather then just starting now, glad im not the only who feels that way.

Remembering basic things like saying please and thank you more often, making more considered decisions than rushed snap ones that you later regret.

I started pursuing my goals, dreams as a 10yr old back in the 1950's. My parents laughed. Thinking, I would be a slave to the fully corrupt system they were. Well, 60yrs later, I accomplished all those dreams and much more. My dreams, didn't revolved around chasing money, being obsessed with it. Actually, I hate the stuff. Never carry much on my person, $20 tops! Once I made that very important decision, my life started on the right path to ultimate happiness.

I appreciate that you are speaking about the ups and downs of life. A lot of times people talk like it’s linear or if you only work hard enough you can accomplish anything. I’ve had all or nothing thinking in the past when trying to diet or whatever and like you at some point I would feel like I failed and wait until I was motivated to try again.
I was working a desk job and a second job and wanted to get down to one job. I changed fields right around the time that Covid happened and the market crashed. I had a hard time learning a new field from home and got laid off with so many others. I ended up getting a manual labor at a plant.
My body took a crash course after having a desk job for 20 years to standing on concrete in steel toed boots all day. I’ve had this job for 2 years now and could barely walk. My feet hurt so bad, I had Charlie horse cramps in my legs at night, my lower back and hips hurt, my arms were sore from lifting.
It started in early December, I got an inversion table. The first week I had something happen in my ankles as I was hanging at around 45 degrees and the pain in the tops of my feet was gone, I added some extra weight in my arms as I was hanging another time and had a pop in my mid back.
My daughter got me a foot massager and I have done it daily since I got it. Today was the first time I got out of bed and my feet barely hurt.
I got my foam roller out and started rolling my spine and legs and have started having almost no cramps in my legs, no throbbing as I lay down.
My work allowed me to get different boots and I got some inserts that help with being on concrete and my hips are feeling better.
Now I just need to stay consistent and continue to do things to benefit body.
Today for lunch I had a low carb meal and am going to take a bath with epsom salts.
I enjoy doing manual labor but my daughter wants me to go back to a desk job since I’m getting older and she doesn’t want me to hurt myself anymore.
I don’t know what the next step will be but I hope I’m able to find a happy medium. The people that I work around are kind, accepting and feel like family. They struggle just like me; but continue to look for positives in life.
When I got laid off I thought it was the worst thing that could’ve happened but I’m down to one job and I’m surrounded by good people and slowly I’m getting into shape, positive momentum.

It's seems weirdly enough you got what u wished for(the 1 job) but didn't expect the pains...I wanted to get a second job and managed to bag 1 job but best of both world(so I thought) I went the opposite to you tyre fitter to office in a garage. Covid hit and it was the worst decision I thought I'd made...I'm still there 5yrs later but I've learnt so much it really tested me and still does!!

That is so awesome that you feel you found a place that challenges you to grow. I feel the same. There are issues and things that happen where I work and I think about changing departments but not about leaving the company. Even my department has some lovely people, some that call me friend and I’d hate to not see them anymore (because we are on 3rd shift). Also I’ve always wanted to be an advocate or stand up for the underdog and I’ve done that here. Some have gotten mistreated because they were a minority and I documented the treatment over months and turned it in. Everyone else was afraid of retaliation so they didn’t contribute to my complaint. Since then some management in our area has changed, people weren’t fired but we see them much less than we use to and when they are there it is a more respectable tone, he also had to apologize to the group for his behavior.
Isn’t it odd how we have ideas of where we would like to go and we think life hits and everything is out the window but somehow we can see we are living the life we wanted. It’s not perfect, I get frustrated with some things, but not enough to want to leave once I calm down.

Haven't made any resolutions this year nor do I remember making any in the years gone by. There's only one way for them to go, sadly, which is down. So what's the point of bothering with that sort of thing?!
Edit: Hang on a sec. There's one I'm gonna have to stick with, though, which is washing behind my ears.

I've picked up my life from the city and I'm leaving my flat to move back home up in the Highlands after 2 years this Sunday.
Sometimes it's hard to make a change because it can involve letting something go that meant a lot to you. It's funny to think that all the wisdom and experience I've now had in these two years came from a sudden decision I made to go away and study again. All it takes is one decision and the execution of it to make huge changes in your life.
One saying I always remember from the late great Jim Rohn is you're investing all the years you've been living into the next. All the life experience and wisdom you've learned can be put into this new year but you have to decide to do so.
All the best to everyone and wishing you all success and happiness ✨️

I started my resolutions before the new year. My suggestion is to be kind to yourself. Every effort counts. Just because you didn’t meet your desired goal doesn’t mean you’re a failure. You only fail when you give up for good. Try again!

Two helpful ideas that worked for me:
    - keeping a log, Excel or paper or an app whatever works. I get motivated by seeing the progress,
    - planning to do just a bit to get things rolling, like "floss one tooth only". Then flossing the remaining teeth is not an issue.

Consistently prepare and nourish myself with healthy meals, and of course, lose fat, gain muscle, stamina (energy + endurance) and explore my "why?."

Obvious improvements (possibly) in you're life.
Stop with all negativity. Alcohol, drugs, unhealthy habits etc. Improve diet, exercise. Be mindful and try to be calm and happy.
Do all off the above and you will set you're physical and mental health on track and thus life Will be better.

Motivation has always been a very fleeting thing for me. I've been depressed and had periods of loneliness as well because I haven't had any friends either. I just hope that 2025 will be the year that I finally crack the code to defeating depression, learn how to find friends as an adult and finally get some more willpower to be able to build and stick with some good habits that will start to become motivated habits.
Internet addiction is the biggest bad habit that stand in the way of me defeating depression and moving on with my life. Most of the time when I get home from work I can't find the motivation to go to the gym or do anything else other than doomscrolling or play video games, which is obviously not good for your dopamine balance either.

I recently got a new job, though, having been unemployed for a few years, which has given me a new lease of life, a pep in my step and all that. There's lots of habits that do not serve me that I'm gonna have to get rid in the new year. Best. Happy New Year!

I have a resolution before the New Year happened. It is to be in regular contact with a small group of friends (and actually see each of them every month).
I've been so bad at this, and in taking your advice, I'm going to tweak that to every 2 months, but hold myself to it.
I've realised now just how much relationships matter to me.

This is why resolutions are kind of shit to begin with. I prefer to have goals and write them down. So far I have achieved most of my goals. Stopping nail biting was one of resolutions for many many years until one day I just stopped doing it entirely. Started doing more things with my hands and chewing gum more. Small steps really 😄
