This is so useful. I'm at that horrible stage where I know all the Pentatonics , Blues Scales etc but I struggle to be creative. These licks have given me so much thought that I can build on these to produce my own riffs/phrases. Thanks so much 10 out of 10
5 & 6 are my personal favourites. I can never forget when I first saw that clip from Royal Albert Hall. That is one of the few moments where you can see all three of them in one frame.
Awesome (as usual from you). I am only surprised that something wasn't taken from Stepping Out. That piece is chalk full of great licks, though I guess not much 'repeating' ones. Thank you sir for another great vid.
Hi , really love your channel it has some quality info . and you are a great player . Some of the Clapton licks from 68 you are playing sound super that`s exactly what i was looking for on YT . Keep up the good work !
Get out! 10 reminders of choice licks. Eric. Les Paul. Mark. What a great go-to format to work these up. Thanks, Mark!!! Toggle switch set on bridge humbucker.
Love this. All these are must know moves if you truly consider yourself a blues/rock guitar player. Clapton on a Gibson is just the best sound ever. Every lick on the Live Cream album is pure fire. There's also a great live recording of Cream in Detroit on UA-cam that's essential listening. The band is blazing. Salute to EC. Thx for the great little tutorial video.
Those are great, thanks! If you ever want to do something similar, one suggestion might be your favourite top 5/10 descending "throw away" licks - hard to describe but they're very fast, mainly descending licks, for example the second lick in the intro in the album version of Have You Ever Loved a Woman by Derek and the Dominos.
Like you said, the high version of #9 instantly pops out from the All Right Now jam climax. After #1, please make Page version like this. Thanks from Colorado.
Licks 3 and 4 from the Cream days .....are for me , the pinnacle of Clapton`s playing back then ......So cool.

Thanks so much Alan. That's exactly the kind of result I'd hope for!

Such a shame there isn't a print of the footage without the goofy effects.

Good point, Bob! Maybe I'll do a second one down the line.

Very nice breakdown of classic licks!!! Thanks for this!!
Glad you liked it! Thank you for commenting :)
I can't say I can place Clapton using lick # 1, but Page loves that lick! A lot of those early hard rock/blues rock licks were used by everybody.
Certainly were, Jim!

Thanks Paul. Not sure if I've heard the Detroit tape. I'll have to check it out. Cheers, Mark
@@mybluesguitar Yeah man, it's excellent. Can only imagine being there! ua-cam.com/video/LGLsjwCp4QQ/v-deo.html
Not only the Detroit. There are 5 or 6 bootlegs in YT (at least in my knowledge), that are worth dying for
Cool. Thanks Pablo.
Love them all, thanks.

Tasty licks from the Master in his Prime. #4 is my favorite.
Thanks for commenting, J D. Much appreciated!
I love your videos man. I'm learning the guitar from scratch and I can't stop wanting to play Eric's pieces even though they're way above league.
That's great to hear, Philip. Thank you!
Love practicing to these videos that you and others post
Glad you like them! Thanks so much
Brilliant!
Glad you enjoyed it, Joe. Thank you
Great, hard to tell if I’m picking your brain or you’re picking mine. Use these all the time, but the secret is out now. Love to listen.
Thanks Glenn
that first lick really comes from elmore james!!
It certainly does!
Great video (as usual). Lick #1 was my favorite.
Thanks jts!
Very Nice!!! Can you play "I Looked Away"?
Hey Nathaniel, thanks for the suggestion. I'll put it on my list!
@@mybluesguitar Awesome 😎
It's really amazing how this guy wrote the book on Rock Guitar. So many contemporary players owe so much to this player it is not funny!!!
Yes, it's quite amazing, really

Absolutely brilliant!!!
Thanks as ever!
Brilliant buddy!
Thanks Pete. Glad you like it!
What gauge strings are you using? - Thanks
Hi Joseph, I use a set that runs 9 11 16 24 32 42
The licks are easy but man, that bending vibrato is tricky. I can’t seem to get it down.
You just have to keep working at it. Like riding a bike and swimming it will suddently click. Its all in the wrist.
