My Grandma was born in 1896. She passed away in 1993. She was 97 1/2 years old. I remember the stories she used to tell me about when she was a kid. I was fascinated by how people used to live. She had an uncle who served in the civil war. My grandpa courted her in a horse and buggy. People worked hard but had a simple life. She's been gone now almost 31 years, and I sure do miss her and her stories about life. I'm glad I have my memories.

My great grandmother passed at 106. At her time of death she was one of very few remaining Armenian Genocide survivors. Our family was so blessed to have her be the eldest in creating 5 generations. Her stories and recounting her life as she shared with us over the years since I was very young were both beautiful and heart breaking. Watching her whole family being murdered in The Armenian Genocide made her an incredibly strong woman. She has been with her family and Jesus for many years now. ❤️✝️❤️

My heart broke when I read this. The suffering of millions of Armenians, Assyrians, and Pontic Greeks at the hands of the Turkish government has been censored for so long, and it's unforgivable. Your great grandmother is a fierce survivor, in life and in memory. 💕

Growing up I used to hear stories about how my great grandfather saw most of the people he knew get murdered by the turks during the armenian genocide and how they kidnapped him to be their slave. He kept writing armenian wors in the sand and ground since they did not allow him to speak or write armenian on paper. One night he escaped and years later he met my great grandmother in Iran who spoke armenian very well and they got married and had 3 children.

Beautiful. When I was in my early childhood, around 7- 10 years old, I knew a lady in Oregon, who lived in a Log Cabin by herself - she was about 90 (sometime around 1973) and she drove to our church in an old 1940s Packard, gardened a huge garden, etc. She told us stories of how she came to Oregon as a very young child in a covered wagon. The stories she told were something.

@@DrummerJacobsee this is why punctuation matters and why it matters even more that you understand how to read the punctuation when it's used. Now take the time and reread exactly what they wrote because they're not telling you to imagine as if this was recorded then they're saying imagine like just think about the fact that this was recorded in that year and then go on to tell you just how many years that is and how incredible of restoration this is. You are acting like there's no punctuation when reading it and so you're reading it as a different meaning in a different statement.

My great grandmother was born in 1901 in a very small town, I remember her clearly talking about seeing the first motorcar, tv, radio, records, everything to real flushing toilets and electricity (again, very small town). She lived to be 101 1/2. She was out pruning her rose bush 3 days before she died. We used the roses at her funeral. She was remarkable. She had never stayed in a hospital until she was 97 years old and needed her gallbladder removed. I was one of 100 great grandchildren, and she knew everything about me. And loved to chat about her life growing up. What a time to be alive. She was always blown away by cell phone technology. I miss her dearly.

Time is wild. I was born in 1981 and remember in my childhood meeting older people who had been born in the 1800’s. They would share stories, it was nothing special. Now I am 42. It’s blowing my mind knowing there are entire adults that grew up never meeting anyone from the 1800’s. They look at these stories with awe and wonderment. From their perspective it is as inconceivable as meeting someone from ancient Egypt. From my perspective these were the great grandparents in the nursing homes.

Old videos dating back to the late 1800s or early 1900s astonishes me, showcasing the vibrant lives of those who once walked this earth. They toiled, loved, laughed, cried, and now, in 2024, they are mere memories. Reflecting on this, I realize that in the year 2124, almost all of us living today will also have passed on. Let us strive, like those in this video , to leave a legacy of a more beautiful world for our future generations.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The world is a prison for the believers and a paradise for the disbelievers." (Narrated by Muslim, Hadith No. 2392). It is reasonable for a Muslim to be poor because this world is like a prison for them, and it is reasonable for a disbeliever to be rich because this world is like paradise for them. So, where is the prison for a wealthy Muslim as a believer? And where is the paradise for a poor disbeliever as a disbeliever? Does it mean that the hadith of the Prophet is false? No! On the contrary, this hadith is one of the miraculous aspects of the Prophet's hadith, where a few words carry broad meanings.
For a wealthy Muslim, the world still resembles a prison compared to the blessings they will receive in paradise. And for a poor disbeliever, the world still resembles paradise compared to the hardships they will experience in hell. After reading this hadith, hopefully, many disbelievers will embrace Islam. Let us not gamble or leave matters of religion to chance, because the stakes are either paradise or hell, and a life in hell is nothing but eternal suffering. However, there is no compulsion in religion. My task is only to convey the message; I do not force anyone. I hope, invite, and pray that many disbelievers will embrace Islam, but if they choose not to, then so be it. Let us promote tolerance and peace. ✌✌

FOR THOSE WHO ARE TIRED OF THEIR SINS AND ARE READY TO ACCEPT JESUS INTO THEIR LIFE, KINDLY SAY THIS PRAYER:
      Psalms 51.
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

No one would be wasting film on a coach departure. The actors were all efficiently acting "adieu" - not a slouch or a nose pick nor a hair out of place, all avoided eye contact with the camera, yet remained within frame - profile blocked with central characters within the buggy kept in frame as they boarded and left in syncronistic efficiency on ground that has zero wagon tracks Even the luggage was empty,, or the coachman was Hercules. Lastly, houses weren't all white in the 1800s and people would not build up a hillside when there was so much level land - closer to town - still around. In the 1970s, I worked with a girl who liked to bake bread. She used something called " starter" to make it. Starter was a foul smelling yeast that had come over with her great grandmother on a wagon train during the 1850s. It was kept in a jar. It was very rare to see someone who still used starter for baking bread. Imagine using a food that is still living that is over 100 years old. I wonder if her children still have some starter? This just shows how the generations are linked together. One hundred years or 200 years is not that long if you really think about it.

    • @grammyrosethompson650
      @grammyrosethompson650 Місяць тому +4

You can actually make your own "starter" for making homemade yeast bread. It's a process that takes a couple weeks (if memory serves), but youncould probably Google and find out out to begin your own starter and then make your own bread.
I did this in the 1990's when my kids were little. Makes some very tasty bread.
There is a whole big process to making your "starter", keeping your starter active and using it and everything, but it's worth it to do up several batches.
