Android Wear is so awesome! Of course I had to show you guys how I use it with my Home Automation. Please feel free to reshare, though your iOS buddies might get jealous ;)
WHOA! At last, a video (featuring Android Wear) that's not just about screen brightness and which way to swipe in order to dismiss a notification or find your way back to the clock face.
Awesome Android Wear demo, Armando! I'm stoked to receive mine on Monday. Believe it or not, I've never used Tasker! You might have me bugging you on Hangouts soon, lol ;)
I realized a lot of you are asking me what parts I used and how to set it up. I've added some links of previous videos I've done in the past that will help. So please +1 this comment so people can read it. THANKS!
I completely whole heartedly agree with the trend nowadays where people are glued to their phone in every public arena, i find it just very frustrating and sometimes very annoying. The fact that Android wear just Works is even better than what i hoped so looking forward to it.
Thanks for giving me a new career goal. 8 am a mobile electronics unstapled but these install are so easy for me and this is the future I'm going for it
Hmm, this looks awesome. But how exactly did you implement custom Voice-Commands that do not start with "Start.."? developer.android.com/training/wearables/apps/voice.html
This video is full soo full of crap!!! ***** No a single mention of all the hardware involved in switching things on and off; or the very elaborate tasker setup you must have.. Yet you repeat on and on how easy it was to get everything working out of the box.. Like its magic. Feels like youre cheating. Youre mocking people. It is SO misleading. I just cant beleive it. Sebastian Mauer Obviously, it simply uses Free-form speech input; Tasker is listening on the phone' end; triggers an action and the "Magic" happens. There is nothing running on the watch itself.
That being said; it sure is a step forward: We now know we can use pretty much any kind of sick custom voice commands as long as the app is running on the phone. Just use the watch as a dumb microphone.
@ Armando Ferreira - Nice job! can you elaborate more on the hardware/devices you are using that work with Gear Live and also how you were able to program/discover the commands/keywords to get things to work? Thanks :)
Excellent video! Just one question - how exactly did you set up those toggles and the overall commands? I live in germany and Google Now didn't unlock all features that you (US citizens) have but I'm very eager on getting the idea behind this...thanks a lot!
Cool video.! Can you do a comparison with the gear 2 (which I bought right before the Wear was launched). I don't really know how much integration there is with the gear 2 and Google now. I do know I can answer phone calls with the gear 2 which sounds awkward but sometimes is really handy!
Just received my G watch today, and love it! Only thing that bothers me is how the screen stays on while and after it's fully charged. I'm old school and still worry about burn in and other adverse longevity issues.
***** did you made a video about the setup? Because that's slick! As soon as google improves the speed the watch communicates and responds to commands faster could be truly epic, but imagine coming home and having all the little details ready as you move on your way there, it would be glorious!
Great video mate. I have a moto 360 1st gen, nest thermostat, nest outdoor cam, hue lights and tp link smart plug. Please can you make a video of how to use my android watch with voice with Google to control those devices. I. E change the temperature, turn lights on and off etc. I thought it would work out the box the same way as Google assist does on the phone but it doesn't. Thanks. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kapil C c I know that, but I know as well they are going to do something about it. It is going to annoying people around saying ok google just to bother..
Hi Armando. Is that an iSmartAlarm system? If so, what tasks allowed you to push the sensor notification to your watch? If not, what alarm system is it? Thanks.
I really really REALLY want a setup like this, the issue is the cost. The most I could do right now is automate my computer to unlock whenever I'm in my room with Unified Remote, Tasker and NFC tags.
Great video... I'm almost sold on android wear now ....is it possible to make and receive calls from it?..by the way my phone went crazy while watching this
Can you make a tutorial video using Autoremote and IFTTT? I see they have the capabilities to interact but I have no clue of have to set it up. This would be great to do voice commands from my Moto 360 to update Twitter or FB status.
hello Armando, Could you please tell me what thermostat are you using in this video? I`m looking for a solucion in order to control an (inverter) Air Conditioner.
Looking really into Home Automation and Tasker in particularly but I've got to ask: ***** what did you use to turn your TV on and off? The computer had WOL but you've probably used some AutoVera equipment or did your TV have it included?
Daniel Dur you are basically telling me that I should attach a computer or something to turn it off again? Turning on I can do with my Chromecast for example with HDMI-CEC support (or whatever), I'm concerned about the turning off bit.
I'm telling you that your TV must have a set of commands that can be send via network to make it do all kinds of things. For example my TV has RS232 and my AV receiver has network ports and I am controlling them both with EventGhost. If you check your TV's manual, you should find some mentions about network control.
Is there a way to work around google now and the 'ok google now' command and use the microphone of the watch to active commands in autovoice directly? as in.. saying 'turn on office lamp' and it will do that.. if so, does it require root? thanks for the help! :)
What systems or hardware devices are you using to actually control the lights and TV. I'm hooked, just new to the game. I was a blackberry guy even until the q10. Don't judge. I now have a note 3 and tasker. Set me free!!!
Hello I have the moto 360 is it possible on tasker or autonotificatons make a task to only turn the phone bluetooth on when I get any notifications like sms twitter and so on. Just to conserve more batery on the 360. Thanks
***** How do you get the menu/toggles to work on the watch? I can do all the voice stuff. I am however not getting the same visual feedback as you are, probably because I'm not creating a notification.
What do you guy's like most about these watches. Like, for example. What benefits do find you get by owning one. I don't see the point in purchasing one. Thanks in advance
It makes it so I don't have to carry my phone with me all the time when I'm at work or home (I'm generally in BT range so it stays connected) Additionally I can reply to messages without grabbing my phone or pulling it out of my pocket if I'm on the go. Like the Pebble, it's meant to augment the interaction with your phone, not replace it.
Hello Armando! How do you do to use Android Wear for commands? I'm trying but not working. Just do a search on Google about voice command. Thank you very much!
Now we really live in the future with stuff like that. I can only imagine this could happen in the movie and Google make it really happen. Google u are the best...
Oh Damn it my phone won't stop listening, hey kid's don't watch this video on your android device. Google now keeps activating. Lol Find another way to watch this awesome video.
For anyone wondering why this doesn't work when you set it up, ***** didn't mention the fact that the Google Search API 1.2.1 is broken and will not work with Google Search 3.4 and higher. There are 2 others in the original XDA thread that have rebuilt the module and released a 1.3.2 version that works flawlessly. It will still say 1.2.1 in the xposed list but it will work. forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-google-search-api-t2554173/page29 It's in the middle of this page posted by bitblaster.
Few reasons actually 1. It's Motorola. 2. Samsung has had a couple runs at watches so theirs is probably the best. 3. And this is the one everyone is overlooking, the point of android wear is the software and hardware are all standards by Google meaning, price, the 360 will have the same specs as the gear and g watch, minus screen resolution and a possible heart rate monitor like the gear. The gear is also the cheapest and the motor is rumored to be $300 or more. What it really comes down to is the screen res, price, and quality of the product you're getting. The gear live looks like my gear 1 and I like that look more than the LG
Spencer Dean Even though I can already see you're just a Samsung fan (which is not a bad thing), your arguments don't really make any sense. When has Motorola been making something terrible lately? The Moto X was on par if not better than any Samsung phone and the Moto G was the best budget phone ever, while still having incredible specs for the price. The Moto 360 is by far the best looking smartwach ever (mostly, because of the fact that it actually looks like a real watch). The price is still just speculation and nothing more.
I'm just a fan of good products dude, before I answer your question let me give you a quick case and point. (Long comment bear with me, lots of copy paste) Gear 1 specs: 320x320 screen, 300 mah battery, Exynos processor, 4gb on board storage, 512mb ram. Torn apart for 1 day battery life. These watches being praised today do the exact same things, same battery life, but yet no one complains because the tech people on most sites and youtube HATE Samsung for some reason, so any praise Samsung is given instantly means someone is a fanboy. The Moto X was garbage for $600, it didn't sell until they slashed it to $300-400. I ordered one, and the screen was scratched to hell within a day being the only thing in my pocket other than lint, despite it having "gorilla glass 2". Their devices are grossly overpriced for what you get, especially their Droid line on VZW. The Moto G was a decent phone, but not worth the praise it was given. Samsung has delivered comparable products at comparable prices for years now, you just have to buy them unlocked from NegriElectronics or someone like that. What I really am trying to say is Motorola is grossly overrated as far as their phones go, and I expect their 360 to follow that trend. Like I said in my previous comment, the only real difference in these watches is the brand and quality - something Motorola is only really known for with bluetooth headsets, while quality with Samsung (Apple, Asus... few other companies) is never questioned. Can't tell the tone online, but I don't mean this negatively - I used to be where you're at now. I'd challenge you to become more knowledgeable on mobile/tech products, processors, etc., keeping in mind some reviewers (cough MKBHD) are paid off to give good products good reviews. Steve Clarke
I can't watch it because my own Google Now is turning on! Haha!
Making me more and more impatient for the 360!
Also, we have the exact same TV, right down to the noise when it turns on
Haha! You keep activating my Google now with "ok, Google"
I was having the same problem
Same here. Excellent troll.
Same, probably need to update it to ignore the phones own audio.

It's funny how every time you say "OK Google" my phone pauses the video and google search activates.

There should be a voice recognition feature with OK Google.

Did u integrate your smart watch with a home automation system like Nest?
So what all is needed to achieve this? What are those door sensors?

cant wait to implement this to my apartment when i move.
