- In the lead up to The Three Lions' group match against Denmark, ALL the talk has been around Phil Foden. On 90min, Harry Symeou dissects how Gareth Southgate can unlock the best out of the Manchester City superstar Phil Foden in an England shirt.
Discussed is whether CAM or LW is the best fit, if a new central midfield partner for Rice would be optimal and what to do at left-back in the absence of Luke Shaw.

Bench him because he can't play on the left and Bellingham is better in the middle. We can't do the gerrard, lampard, scholes thing again. The system is more important than fitting in every good player
Leaving Foden on the bench won't win us the Euros, Bellingham is also a system player.
Bellingham is the reason England won the first match against Serbia, he is by a mile the best player on the team.
He needs to watch this
If it’s foden it’s how England can get the best out of him.
If it’s Saka or Trent, it’s ‘why isn’t he performing for England’
You lot are genuinely pathetic.
Funny thing is both Trent and saka had decent games the other day.
The question should be how does Foden get the best out of himself
The shame for him is Bellingham is the better 10, his services are redundant. Time to drop him, and play Gordon.
@@87kickz Bellingham was playing in his own position and only could get a goal from walker and saka if he was were phill is he will be ghosted also
@87kickz better 10 but the midfield was disjointed and overrun, the striker wasn't involved and most of the chances came down the right. Better because he crashed the box and scored?
Its the fist game dam💀
You literally said Trent unbalanced Trent but then suggested putting Gallagher in there to balance rice like Jorginho does…. Gallagher is a limited 8 Jorginho is a deep lying defence mid that why he balances rice because rice is better as an 8. You have got this completely wrong the only player that can give balance to rice is Wharton…. Where rice is not good at picking up off the defence and passing through the lines Wharton is brilliant at this and it will allow rice to utilise his pressing and ball carrying abilities. Wharton is also the only player that can move the ball fast and through the lines of the opposition midfield. This will actually help the players plying in the pockets as most of the time foden makes great movement he just doesn’t get the ball or it comes to late and he can just bounce out or side ways.
Have a look at some clips of Wharton he is also better positioning than Gallagher and decent in the challenge. This is the the only option that would work for Southgate to balance the team but Southgate alluded to training Arnold for a year to be able to play Midfield so he probably will stick with Arnold
By dropping him, he's a luxury player and isn't necessary in this system.
I haven't even bothered watching this video because it'll be a Foden love fest session with 0 genuine footballing opinions
This is the 11 that Southgate should pick for every game from now on. If he doesn't then there's 0 chance for England to win the Euros.
Pickford
Trent Gomez Guehi Shaw
Rice. Wharton/Mainoo
Jude
Saka. Kane. Gordon
Trent inverts into midfield, sitting with Wharton/Mainoo.
This allows Rice to drive forward with the ball. Which attracts opposition players towards him and opens up space for Shaw to cross the ball in and Jude to make runs into the box supporting Kane.
Rice also has excellent athleticism so he can come back and help create a midfield 3 to support TAA and Wharton.
We'll not win the Euros with this lineup.

What is the meaning of a system player??
Waffler
England fans should stop putting pressure on the coach and let him bench the Foden instead of listening to media. Foden not good enough
