@@FartKnocker123Definitely possible. They should be at the same volume and string with new strings to give each equal footing so their tones properly come through
He must have been playing the Tele with a) old strings, b) neck pickup only, and c) tone set to zero. The Telecaster is famous for its chime. In this video, there wasn't even a hint of chime on that Tele.
Nope mine is a mim $600.00 from proaudio. Try getting it professionally set up made a big difference could of been the crappie strings fender puts on them. They put diadarios on and made a big difference with my butterscotch mim telly.
I’ve got a Strat from 1993 and a Tele from 1994. They compliment each other so well. Both sunburst. Rosewood Strat fretboard, maple Tele. It’s nice to have options. Strat plays a bit nicer but that’s circumstantial.
You know what it's a personal preference because they both sound really good you know it just depends on the guitarist and what he's feeling at that time go for it 🤓🎸🎶
I think it depends on HOW you play and not WHAT you play, for me it's better a tele because I play agressive and hard, so as the strat is a lot more noisy than a tele it seems I'm playing noruegan metal. Anyway great guitars bro keep it up bro!
I actually got to know Phil Solem from The Rembrandts a bit. I went to his birthday party and helped him move out of his apartment when he went to live in Nashville. I got to play one of his guitars for a bit 😁 He's a cool guy, very down to earth and humble.
Do you know how to get a good sound out of either of them? Sounds like the tone knob is rolled back on both but moreso on the tele- which should sound as bright or moreso than the strat
Thanks man, this comparison validate some thoughts I had back then. Now I'm gonna craft my tone to fit my tele (it was setup when I used my Strat, didn't notice they had that much of a frequency of how they drive the amp differently, duh).
For this lick , that strat Def sounds brighter and just all around better. But it's not always the case. I've heard both makes before that absolutely slayed. A Tele tends to be more twangy and muffled in my opinion. I always preferred Fenders period because of their feel. Ease of playing. A maple neck and fretboard is so much smoother than rosewood. I know that doesn't tend to be a popular opinion I've heard, and I do prefer the sound of a Gibson or anything with humbuckers as opposed to single coil pick ups. Lol, I guess really if I could get a les Paul body with a maple strat neck that would be my perfect guitar. Gonna have to make that happen someday. ☺
I’ll always take the strat over the tele even though I love them both. Strat just had so many pickup selections and also the trem. Also just depends what I’m playing or creating
I was shocked how different strats sound from teles. Just got my first strat..I've always played teles. I like them both but I use so many effects you can't really tell anyway.
Not to be negative, but this demo doesn't compare them well at all. Only one position used, weird distortion, and terrible room reverberation. Not to mention the Telecaster model used here is half the price of the Strat model he's comparing it to. When I compare a Strat & a Tele from the same tier & similar era, the Telecasters tend to have a greater mid-range presence & wider frequency spectrum while the Strat has a sharper attack & slightly less sustain. Both are superb instruments
It depends on the genre *!IN MY OPINION!* Tele would be good for stuff like Jazz, Pop etc.. Strat would be better for Punk, Rock, Metal and Death Metal.
Maybe the sound of the Strat is better, but the Telecaster looks so much cooler. I’ve got a Telecaster myself and I believe I play much better on that guitar than I would have done on a Strat. This because it is important to like the guitar you are playing. It will give the player that little, but important feeling, we all need to play well
There’s a rebirth thing going on with the telecaster while it’s amazing and versatile the Stratocaster sounds better, plays better and had more sounds because it has a five way switch versus the telecasters three way switch. I own several of these guitars and I love all of them, but one of my American standard Stratocasters beats them all. I think it was a good build.
Tone is subjective, but what it comes down to is what you want your guitar to do. If you want a simple workhorse, the Tele is the way to go, but if you want a few bells & whistles that don’t overcomplicate things, the Strat is the better option. Arguably the more versatile of the two is the Strat, but then again, that didn’t stop Prince or Jimmy Page from shredding on a Telecaster.
I've played a lot of guitars in my 20 years of playing and nothing is more versatile than a strat. It's only to heavy metal stuff I'll bring out my Jackson made in Japan
I only have two guitars one is tele around 1000 pounds and strat around 1800… But the tele is cheaper but i think it sounds better to me i love clean sounds but it also works for other genre
Both sounds good.. but strat is more versatile in terms of style, you can do almost all music genre with strat.. from light rock to heavy metal.... i cant see telecaster doing heavy metal...😊
They are both great, I am going to start my large collection of Stratocaster and Telecaster guitars and also Basses American Profesional II. Greetings from México 🇲🇽
The strings on the tele are older and it seems like you’re comparing a Mexican tele to an American strat. Not a good comparison at all. Test both with same age strings and either both American or both mexi.
Tbh i wouldnt say much a difference in the sound i mean telecasters do tend to sound a bit more twangy which is good for country sound. But end of the day i dont go for a guitar thats too cheap and not one that's too expensive either. I dont think in my opinion that a more expensive guitar will make the person a better guitar player
I'd say the tele because the tone was not as shrill as the strat. Although the tone was dialed back a little far on tele for me and just the opposite on the strat.
Strat sounds clear and strong. Tele sounds clear with less volume. Funny I should read this because: I adjusted the geriatric bridge pickup on my player tele today and it's 4/64Bass 3/64 treble and it's humbled by the neck pickup clarity and volume. The bridge pu is just weaker. My Stratocaster is A 1996 Squier protone and it feel better than the fender tele
You can always tell who's experienced MIXING and PLAYING with either the strat or tele. "Which one sounds better?" The strat because you're tele is mixed to sound like its being played through the empty cardboard cylinder from a roll of paper towels.
I like using teles for avant/art rock music cuz of its raw sound. I also use it for political/surf punk cuz it picks up distortion better than most guitars on the market
There's no better or worse between these two. Guitarists use one or the other for the sound they want to create.
Exactly. They’re 2 different things. It’s like comparing slash to Stevie ray vaughan.
The strat is better

Thank you 1000 times for testing the pickups clean and with a song people know.
I have a 52 Tele reissue and you can’t beat it. The Tele would sound better on that riff on the bridge pickup. The Strat is on the Bridge and Middle.
