This episode is really cool because you can see the change in the look of the show- Its very Y&R esque. Other than that its dreary and boring. Its such a cool era to revisit (whether I think the show is boring_ and I love watching these. This rare period is so fun to revisit with new eyes. Thank you for posting these!!!!!
The sets and costumes are so beautiful but yes, the storylines are like watching paint dry. Fortunately they pick up in October when Blair and Andrew show up, can't wait! And I can't wait for Alex to return, very, very soon!!!!! Tonja Walker kept me watching.
@@petermorley_sle The wardrobe has definitely improved! I always thought the show underserved Dorian's dress code when Elaine Princi came on - a lot of solid color-blocking, power ensembles, what seemed like a very conventional approach to costume design. And being a recast, you kind of go with what the designers tell you... Something similar happened with Tina when Karen Witter came on. The visual flair that she had with Andrea Evans just faded. Princi's outfit here is elegant and gorgeous. Tina's clothing improves under Gottlieb, too, but still mostly misses that unpredictable wow factor.
@@romanseano I liked a lot of the outfits that Dorian/Elaine Princi wore during her first 18 months. They were either chanel or chanel inspired, but I see your point. Viki never dressed as beautifully as she is now, very well styled and her hair is on point. Perhaps Andrea Evans had more say into her wardrobe. She definitely had a lot of style and even when she returned in 2008 and 2011 she looked like Tina. My only thought with Karen Witter, they might be dressing her to reflect Tina's emotional growth (although she does the two steps forward one step back quite often). I'm so grateful that we had a Tina and I'm sorry she left because I was not of fan of the next recast, I would have LOVED Andrea Evans playing off of Viki's multiple personalities. Even Wanda went from frumpy to outfits that show off her figure and nicer blouses. My most favorite part of the Gottlieb regime is the set, style and costume makeovers.
The set designers did such a beautiful job with the redesign of The Buchanan Palace. I also LOVE what they are about to do with Asa's home, adding a window, it's much more suited to Asa.
Asa's mansion was the BEST of Gottlieb's sets next to Alex/Carlo's penthouse and Dorian's penthouse that we are seeing now- Both were extremely elegant and just a little over the top. asa's had that cool gold orb ceiling near the window that the cameras often did not show. Whats amazing is that Asa's mansion lasted until the end of the show! Just by painting grey and relighting- the current Buchanan Palace with many pieces of "wall" from the Stonecrest set looks really good- I never liked that complete redesign that came in 92/93- with the yellow and lattice work? I think it was French inspired but other than the windows, it looked hella cheap.
@@upontheventura When Michael Grande was redesigning the hotel in 1989 before Asa bought it, it was SO obvious it was Stonecrest, it was hilarious. The doorway to the main reception area was so narrow, it had to be a fire hazard! I even think they used the fireplace with the "trick" entrance. But yes, Asa's mansion was gorgeous, and Phil Carey scoffs it off with one line, something like "Renee did a little redecorating, do you like it?" Meanwhile it's a major remodel.🤣 I loved it, and the backdrop of his property, it was really well done.
Agreed, this is not the Cassie that we all loved. She is so fickle and that was cruel what she did to Dorian. Actually Dorian's doorbell is irksome, but Cassie is much more irksome. That was so sad that Cassie just left after Dorian gave her the front page and the freedom to do as she wishes with The Intruder. She could have made it legit way before Todd if she stayed instead of leaving with Bo. ugh!
@@romanseano LOL it sounds like a very annoying version of The Jeffersons doorbell to me! I think they eventually tone it down, if I remember before she moves into La Boulet.
Jason has such a good heart, it seemed like he always tried to do the right thing. They definitely were bringing social class back into the show. I thought he was really wonderful and a great addition for the Wolek/Webb clan! I'm sorry he never returned after he left in 1994.
@@petermorley_sleyou seem to be the right person to ask, as I lost track. Whatever happened with that story where Jason's girlfriend Beth was dying of some weird illness? Remember that? The girl who gave birth to the baby that Cassie wanted. Beth. She had some weird sickness
@@Farr50 awww thank you, that's very kind of you to say. Yes, there was a weird virus going around in the summer of 1994 and Beth died from it. I believe Viki had it and Dr. Ben Price, Sheila and Rika's brother, creates the antidote to help Viki but it was too late for Beth. Jason left the show soon thereafter. I loved Jason, but Mark Brettschneider wanted to leave. From what I've read he wanted to come back later but was denied. I LOVE Vanita Harbour who played Rika and ADORE Valerie Pettieford's Sheila. Rika should have not been fired. Did you know that she and Troy's son Kerry (who also got fired) got married in real life in 1993 and are still married!!!! So they did at least have a happy ending.
Could they not have figured out something better for Hunter to do? Didn't he already hurt himself once and have to stay up in andy's? What was this obsession with having her nurse him all the time?..... I literally thought I was having deja vu
I think the writers were wrapping up both their stories and since they began their friendship this way (and pretending to be married), they might have thought this would be the way to write them out (which they did). Honestly, some of these exits are really insulting, especially Kerry & Rika (who leave separately).
I never understood the pairing, except, like Stephanie and Kevin, it was another way to have Dorian vs. the Buchanans. Other than that, I have no idea. Re: Mark, I wish I knew!!!! I know he wanted to come back to daytime at some point. He has chemistry with everyone. One of my favorites from this era, and IMO underrated. Once Todd becomes a major character, Jason saw less airtime. I hope someone replies with an update!
It seems like a waste of tina, more than one episode dedicated to finding out who stole her husband's camera. I could just imagine a promo for this, lol. How lackluster
@classic oltl, hope everything is okay, miss the uploads, thanks for all your hard work ❤

Wish the show had Y&R's writers at this time.

I did like Elaine Princi
Me too
I have a feeling you may be without power if you live in Helene’s path. Hope you’re ok. 🙏🏻
Some early Yasmin Bleath before Baywatch
Cassie is irksome…
This Cassie is a NIGHTMARE- Just eating the show up and as boring and drippy AF.

Ahh another episode drought:(
Cheers for the episode Jason stealing the money from the till I was quite convinced it was Jason who stole from cord earlier
Great episode leaving you hanging
At least Jason knew he was wrong and tried to get the camera back. As soon as he realized how nice Cord was he had to get it back.

Agreed! Dorian also had a good heart underneath that brashness, but the old money looked down on her because she was new money.

Dorian would have been within her rights to have security or police come and escort Bo out of her home and perhaps arrested for trespassing.
