Don't know what is sadder. That bands like XTC aren't around anymore, or that MTV used to be an informative excellent musical platform.

Bands like XTC were brilliant. Nothing exists like them today because the "record companies" want singles make quick money.

i gotta be honest, i really struggle these days. i grew up in the 80s and devoured music incessantly. played in many bands...now there is nothing new to feed my soul, it feels like those days never existed

It almost brings me to tears, these guys are so good. Back then, nobody could come close to matching the superb songwriting craftsmanship of Colin Moulding and Andy Partridge, NOBODY. Even 25 years later this statement still rings true...thanks for the post.

Colin truly one of the most underrated bassists ever... how can anyone sing like that while playing some of the most intricate basslines I've ever heard is beyond understanding to me

The lyrics are brilliant...and very relevant in 2020.

Totally agree, That's precisely what I was thinking as I was paying attention to the lyrics. And like this song with brilliant and relevant lyrics, this band has many.

So so so good. Colin on Bass , Colin's lyrics , Colin's melodies , and then there is Andy doing all that and more - the rearguard almost, the sweeper making it all happen, and then Dave bringing his essential counter melodies and solos. And then Terry. I will never tire of them.

It is a measure of how insignificant the video was for the song that a major fan like myself (who was in college at the time!) didn't see this video until just now, in 2017. I didn't even know it existed. It was a single, for crying' out loud! Weird. They kinda gave it the ol' college try, and yet as videos go, it's kinda... meh.
