  • Alan Watts is a spiritual teacher with a Zen Buddhism background. According to Alan Watts we have a role- or a mask conception of ourselves, because other people tell us who we are. Every moment we assume certain roles and act according to the expectation of other people and society, thus how you view yourself depends on people around you. In the end he shows that you can change the way you see yourself and you we already what you are searching for, you are the Universal Self, the Brahman!

    Alan Watts:
"You have a "role"-conception, a "mask"-conception of yourself, because other people tell you who you are."
"We are constantly - in every social interchange - telling other people who they are."
"Everybody around you is telling you what you are and who you are by expecting certain behaviour from you."

    Thank you for watching!

It really didn't need the twinkling piano in the background. Watts's voice is gripping enough on its own without musical direction of the emotions added.

Thank you for the video - very important, you are right!
But don't you think, even if the music is beautiful, the words would do better without?!
    Try.

You are very welcome my friend:)
Without music is also an option, yes.
I am making more and more videos without background music since many of you ask me do so:)

I loved the music in this video.
Some music does not support or blend with the words and can be intrusive.
      But not in this instance

music is a vibrations just like everything else in existence, and every vibration generates a certain feeling ,, so music what for ?? for more feeling to go along with sir alan watts voice's vibrations . not more noise , but more feeling.

alan watts is a philosopher . his speeches are there to make you think not to feel. at least in the first place. the music just brings artificially generated feelings, while the message of his sayings is easily overlooked for most of the people. ask yourself why alan watts didnt put music on while speaking.
