This is the best video showing the capabilities of a STOCK 4Runner! I’m tired of seeing heavily modded 4runners driving down the some fire road and going through some puddles; all with shit music playing in the background.
Lucky You yeah even more impressive is that it’s an SR5. No lockers no crawl control or multi terrain selector. Absolutely amazing especially on those stock tires.

Raw footage of stock mobbing in a 4runner, running boards on and everything! This was the best video I've seen in a long time, keep using that 4runner!
Late to this video, but I just placed a deposit on an sr5 and wondered if I should have gone with the more expensive off-road, but we don’t do a whole lot of wheeling. This video changed my mind. I think my sr5 will be more than enough for some camping and light wheeling on trails
Crazy how modern they have become while at the same time not much has changed. Reminds me of my 99 limited rear locker t4r. I guess it just shows how advanced the early generations were.
I'm buying one tomorrow but getting the TRD Off Road model.. No point in paying more for Fox shocks on the Pro i'm going to tear out and replace as i modify it, but i need the rear locker, which the base doesn't have sadly.. I have seen guys take the base model to some extreme places though lol.. Great video :)
And here I am about to take my bone stock SR5, including tires, up to some place I have never been, worried about whether or not it can handle it. After watching this video, I'm going to be okay.
hardcoremofo it's not going to be ruined and it's made for what it's supposed to do. Go to any page where people have taken these and they all have no problems. It's bullet proof and not a soccer mom explorer.
chaosfactor333 A mall crawler, dude? This stock 4x4 SR5 with Atrac is every bit as durable than any other version of the 4Runner and while not as capable as, let’s say a TRD off Road or the Pro version, it is still plenty more capable than any of the other SUV’s on the market which can be categorized as you described. This, and plenty other videos on the web are proof of it.
@chaosfactor333 SR5... Same engine, same ground clearance, ATrac, as the TRD. No 4runner with 4x4 can be considered a mall crawler unless that's what people do with it. In fact, it never made sense to me why anyone would buy the TRD then lift it, add bigger tires, bumpers, sliders, etc... When they can do the same thing to an SR5 and have the same exact rig for 5-8k less. Actually, once you switch the suspension on a TRD or SR5 you have the same truck. Nobody uses crawl control or terrain select. There is a gas pedal and brake pedal for that stuff. The way I see it the only reason to get the TRD is if you plan on leaving it stock. You will have a 4r with better suspension that the SR5... Until the SR5 gets aftermarket suspension. Oh wait! The hood scoop.
Luke Skywalking haha. Yeah I sure their daddy money goes a long way. Most people that aren’t slaves in their 20s and 30s tend to be supported by their parents.
I'm surprised yall got how far you did on stock tires. If it was my rig I'd have gotten beefier tires and probably a winch. But great vid! I've been contemplating whether or not to get an 4Runner SR5 or a TRD Offroad/Trail based upon the 4wd modes, but y'all just proved that an SR5 can do more than I'll probably ask of it. Once again great video and keep trailblazing!!
@@timbailey6816 that is a shame. I'm in the same position as you. but a 7 seater SR5 with the upgraded skid plate and a nice set of tires should suffice... maybe get the heritage toyota grill for shits.
bruh I took my new 2020 off road into a shallow puddle, the front valance came right off just by water pressure. Learned that toyota used cheap plastic clips to attach the valance to the bumper. Then they sell those simple plastic clips for 6$ a piece. Had to put 12 or 14 of those clips to clip the new valance. Don't get me wrong, I love my 4runner and it will last me for 500k plus KM but using plastic clips is a disappointment.
