I've had the great pleasure and honour to welcome Enno Voorhorst to our little chapel in Velp (province of Noord-Brabant, Netherlands) for a guitar recital some years ago. He is one of the kindest men I've ever met. Of course the recital was a complete success, and he played the Händel Chaconne too. What more could anyone wish for? Thank you again Mr. Voorhorst, all the best to you.
I couldnt hold my tears past the minute, in this modern world we give culture for granted, the truth is, best of what humanity could achieve with a caring passion of dedication and perseverance: is this. Art. At its finest results.
Enno Voorhorst, by far one of my favorite classical guitarists and definitely one of the best in the world. I fell in love with his expressive, dynamic, crisp playing style the first time I heard him playing his own Bach transcriptions years ago. His arrangements and renditions are always stunning, beautifully articulated, and completely unfettered by any technical limitation.
This is truly wonderful playing. Also, anyone who doubts that Ramirez are still among the greatest guitars in the world should listen to this performance. It is exquisite.
I've been playing the guitar for about 14 years, and I've seen many great guitarists, but the cleanness and accuracy merged with a touch of classical soul in this wonderful piece is just on another league! UA-cam's algorithm gives me satisfaction, sometimes!
When I first heard this, my first thoughts were “How poetic and utterly relaxed!” I still feel that. But then I realized how much is due to his work as arranger, making clearer distinctions between melody and accompaniment, changing a lot of the phrasing, and considerably altering the end to remove all the keyboard bravura and replacing it by the lovely reminiscence of the quiet opening.
I don’t have words to express my most deepest feelings when I hear this incredible work. I hardly can hear without tears in my eyes . Marvelous arrangement, thank you
There's a reason there are like no videos of people playing Chaconnes under the age of like 40, it takes years and years of practice to do something like this
@Barristan Selmy This is an extremely difficult piece to play solo right through without a mistake for even the best guitarists. Live concerts do not exact the same virtuosity as recordings, in that recordings are unforgiving and it's possible this one may been edited. Listen carefully to the recording quality (different from expressive tone) before 3:10 and after, and then same at 4:19. It suggests to me the section between 3:10 and 4:19 was added sometime after the rest of the piece was recorded with slightly different recording parameters. Nonetheless, Enno's expression, delivery and virtuosity are absolutely amazing, doing great justice to this genius of a work by Handel.
I'm only 20 seconds in deciding to type this out to already tell you that you've knocked my socks off with this absolutely sublime playing. Not every day you see someone with this much skill on a guitar, bravo to you!! Nailed it from a musical point of view as well, using extremely good technique only when required and not overdoing the piece in any parts at all, well done again
When I heard this Händel masterpiece, long, long time ago, with Ida Presti & Alexander Lagoya, I've listening very often. To play it in a solo guitar is probably one of the most difficult works. Enno did an incredible performance like nobody else. He plays Bach´s Ciaccona in perfect way too.
With this playing the definite version has been presented here! Simply great and not only in technical aspect! The different lines in this piece are played so clear that an analysis of this piece for students should start here.
I made my earlier remark before completing to listen to the entire piece. I just finished it, and you are one of the most musical players I've ever heard. You make Handel sound like Scriabin. Simply the best!!
Masterful and magnificent in every respect. Both the arrangement and performance are impressive. The ornamentation is exemplary. This makes no apology to the harpsichord.
The trills are like optical/audio illusions. UA-cam is the veins to which I can feel the blood of the world beating in my heart. Getting to hear and see all these great minds sending their electrical creations from the fingertips to my ears and into my memories is reason to live a thousand years. I've a new neural network with a no vacancy sign for the storage of this piece! Excellent and thank you!
Gitarrespiel in höchster Vollendung!!!
@@barristanselmy2758 Interesting that Segovia always pops up in the "who's best" discussions. He was first, in modern times. Though had Ida Presti been a man she would have been more famous than S. I could easily count 100 guitarists "better" than S, playing more even, with a more developed tone and last but not least with a broader take on music. Take Zoran Dukic as an example, Segovia couldn't hold a candle to him in any sense but being first. Enno Voorst could be one of my 100 guitarists, he plays the Chaconne here well enough anyway.

I cannot imagine how anyone could possibly get closer to what the composer had in mind - in all likelihood. This sounds so logical and natural.
