- Presenting the Rockstar Editor - a special feature in Grand Theft Auto V for PC that allows players to record, edit, and share videos created from footage in both Story Mode and GTA Online.
Watch today’s video “Introducing the Rockstar Editor” for an overview of just some of the features of this powerful video creation tool including special camera modes, filters, depth of field and audio customization options - as well as the unique Director Mode feature that allows you to stage creative movie-making sequences from a cast of characters ranging from familiar faces from Story Mode, to pedestrians and even animals. You’ll be able to upload your finished masterpiece to UA-cam and to the Rockstar Games Social Club to share with friends.

most games have photomode and struggle with the camera having freedom... but the fact that gtav is open world, in 3rd/first person, has switchable characters and has underwater, land and sky mechanics... and includes a cinematic editor is mind blowing.

***** none so far lol, i just want play this in my beautiful PC, modding can take some time to start and evolve, but probably i will try to remake some of my IV mods in V, basically what people asks i try to make happen, this is how i started modding IV with Ghost Rider and other mods (after myTelekinesis Powers mod that was the first one and the only one that nobody requested lol)

Rockstar did announce that the Video Editor would be coming to PS4/Xbox One soon. But no the PS3/X360 as it requires more power than the X360/PS3 has.
So be patient! You'll get it soon enough.

Independence FM making an appearance in GTA V wouldn't make sense as Independence FM is based in Liberty City, so it wouldn't make sense to be able to listen to it from Los Santos. It's called "Self Radio".

Notice how they call it the Rockstar editor and not the grand theft auto five editor. that means they will most likely use this in many games to come like the new red dead and many more rockstar games

I'm really happy GTA V is finally releasing on PC shortly from now. I have it on my Xbox One, but I can't wait to see what PC can do with creating playthrough,roleplaying,competative,funny, etc. video content with the fexible platform that PC is. This ingame editor is the first sign that we can expect great things to come.

minus randloev I wouldn't work with these consoles. They have just 500gb which most of us have used already. I think Sony and MS would prefer you to use their integrated recording features anyway. But hey have fun on the masterrace platform ;-D

Director mode needs an update, we need to be able to use the more up to date cars from our online garages as well as have the ability to spawn actors or vehicles and being able to access most of the interiors in the game (humane labs, Lester's warehouse, etc.) because director can be so much better if features like this were available.

Being a console player, I can see why this exclusive to the PC version as consoles may not be able to compute with this with all the screen recording and editing.
While, PC is able to do mostly everything as it is easily able to modify the specs and such to match the requirements for the game components.
And also, the PC has a keyboard.
Thus, has more buttons available for editing and is less complex with just a controller
TheApollo1232 Yeah but why would they need it? There's already tonnes of available editing software out there on PC. There's none on console unless you count PS4's crappy "share factory". It doesn't make sense to me for it to be PC exclusive. I was actually really excited until I saw no console logos at the end of the video. Now I'm just disappointed.

NextGenVixen Because R* want to keep things easy for them by providing them with their own built-in program.
NextGenVixen while sure you can easily use other editing software, but much like Halo did with their theater mode and in some aspects the forge mode, you have an IN-ENGINE recorder. Which means going back to have things at whatever angle you desire much more easily, making whatever conditions you want things to be at beforehand, and just overall much more simple to edit on the fly than having to record and then switch to another program to edit.
Sad this couldn't make it to console as well since my laptop would make GTA V pretty ugly if it ran at all, but I understand why it wont with the limitations. Hope to see if a downgraded/ported version of it will see the light of day.

Rockstar used to have a lot of games each year, then in the ps3/360 era they slowly started just releasing 1 game a year.
2010: RDR
2011: La Noire
2012: Max payne 3
2013: GTA V
2014: GTA V again
2015: GTA V again
What the hell are all the other studios doing? In 2014 Bully 2 should be out. 2015 maybe RDR 3 or Midnight club 5. It's taking a long time between each game now

Dylan Benge Don´t need to be EA for releasing 1 game a year. EA probably releases like 50 games a year. I´m not talking about a new GTA every year. I´m talking about from Rockstar the publisher. They have a lot of sub companies making games. If they did not have gta I don´t think they would survive releasesing a new game every 3 years or whatever their plan is.

I bought it on the xbox one and I'm loving it, but i also bought it for PC as I like to try new things. And through this experience they're very similar in graphics and how it runs but PC has way more advantages which makes it cool

1,5 YEAR! ROCKSTAR LOVES PC GAMERS
MrNurgeld Only 5 months, because it was supposed to launch with the PS4 and Xbone version back in November with the graphical upgrades, first person mode. But it was delayed until now. But since Heists was released just one month ago, and the PC version comes with the base game, Heists, Video Editor, Director mode. We're more than even :)

Something that would be wonderful to have available in the Editor are sound bites....for instance, if you chose to make a movie about Jimmy, you could access a list of .wav files (or whatever) to insert into your movie wherever you liked.
It would be cool if the in-game TV let you watch a playlist of rockstars favorite editor videos.
