In my head sand claw was like “oh hey can I stay for a night it’s kinda cold?” Clan “sure?” Then she wouldn’t stop talking about stuff “oh did you know that the snake is like a lake?” Trying to rhyme and couldn’t stop rhyming then didn’t leave 😂 (just how I imagined it, you could put the story’s your opinions too :D )

I liked the designs, very fun. fun fact: in terms of puberty, a 6 month old cat would be about 10 years old in human terms. So, old enough to be a couple inches away from adult height (cm for cats) but still definitely a little kid.
They’d grow exponentially, so I’d they were human they’d age like this:
5 months -8 years old
6 months -10 years
7 months- 12 years
8/9 months- 13 / 13 1/2 years
10 months- 14 years. At this point, female cats and humans are typically at their adult height, leaving room for an inch or two more if they’re lucky, but still not adult looking. Sorta lanky and awkward. Male cats and humans would continue to grow a bit larger than their female counterparts.
Then at about 15 months old, they’re the same rough age as an 18 year old human.
Just some fun comparisons, so the Erin’s aren’t entirely off-it’s just to very large humans, kittens seem almost full grown at six months, despite still being pretty small and lanky according to the perspective cats would have.
I love the way I can just tell by familiarity that you used FireAlpaca. I love how you were accurate with the genetics when mapping out the families!
You have a very upbeat and good tempo way of talking. It's pleasant. And I appreciate that you say stuff like 'I like how it came out' and 'im proud of this' without hemming and hawing around it. It's very refreshing!

*Dandeliontail* - Pale ginger tabby tom with pale yellow eyes.
*Mudmask* - Ginger-and-black tortoiseshell she-cat with pale yellow eyes.
*Ravensong* - Black she-cat with green eyes.
Oh WOW!! This is so cool!!! I love them! Mudmask is my favorite. If Ravensong does grow up to leave the clans, I imagine she'll keep her name for sentimental reasons

regarding the eye colour thing, earlier today actually I spoke on discord with a cat geneticist about eye colours, apparently there's some idea to it? they had a little eye colour chart thing, told me how it could be used, all that fun stuff!
this is what they said regarding the chart they made:
"the general idea is to model it as two sets of polygenes, for pigmentation and refraction. you can't usually get pigmentation low enough for blue eyes unless there is some other gene specifically causing the depigmentation."
and this is how they explained how they calculate eye colour
"My general method is to draw a box with the corners at the two parent's genetic eye colors. Ones toward the center of the box would be expected to be more likely. When I use it for making family trees, I also let the offspring's eye colors fall just outside the box on occasion, but as I've played with the mathematical models more I've found that polygenic outcomes will really skew quite heavily toward the middle."

Yes, cat's fur patterns can get incredibly detailed.
Which is exceedingly difficult to replicate in a drawing, but I think you did fairly well!

Not sure if anyone else has already said this but…
Sparse haired cats are pretty much half bald cats. They have chunks of fur all over their body. In my opinion, they pretty much look like a cat tried to use a hair growth treatment but it failed MISERABLY. I did this clan generator and had to look this up. Honestly was scared by the images these kinds of cats.
Loool, yes some people have mentioned it but I still appreciate the comment! :3 I'm glad I went w/my interpretation instead of that lol, a lot of mutations that do that are dominant

thankfully there's ways to do that w/out typical mendelian genetics! tbh I may be good at genetics, but making characters /look/ like they're related when you draw them is hard. I wish you luck!

OMG I've been looking into different degrees (I'm an upperclassman in HS) and genetics and different aspects of evolution have been favorite possibilities of mine! So is pharmacology and chemistry though ;v;

80 Good luck!! Idk how it'll function at whatever college you choose, but if it's possible, I recommend taking a Biochem 101 class/course during freshman year and feeling out which major you'd like to get. I initially aimed for a pure genetics degree but ended up shifting over to population genetics/evolution due to some of the more chemistry-heavy aspects, and I know a lot more people in that class who were unsure of their major and ended up finding an area they liked once they had a taste of everything. Also - some kind of foundational biochem class is often required as a prerequisite for upper-level science classes/courses, so it's good to get it done earlier (which I learnt the hard way lol). but it depends on the college. Good luck!!

It's kinda like, their fur's thin and they're hairless around the facial area and legs, something like that

I mean, erin hunter doesnt know how cat genetics work either, so it all fits together.
Tho cats starting training at 6 moons makes sense and then having 6 moons of training to learn everything, But being forbidden from taking a mate while an apprentice. Apprentices wouldn't be seen an adult until they finish their training and earn their warrior name.
However, cats outside the clan wouldn't have that belief, so there would still be cats having kits at 6 moons and maybe joining the clans with their kits.
I mean you're right if we're going by a more realistic understanding of cat age than Warriors usually uses but I'm not sure what prompted this lol

I did a a lot of those clans and there on a Google doc I have saved 288 cats I added some of my own to them it pretty entertaining and sparse hair is like they have patches of fur but any time I get sparse hair or sphinx based cat I have this personal rule we're I give them long fur
yeah tbh, I'm more or less with ya on that. hard to draw, hard to stick in a family tree, wouldn't survive well in the wild...etc.

Oh VERY easily! White is epistatic as HELL, so he can hide basically anything we want him to underneath. An all-white cat is the savior of a genetically-accurate family tree!

Lilac coloring is actually the color of a Ragdoll cat caused by hypomelanism, which causes less Melanin to be produced by the animals body. ( Any animal can have it, it's just rare in anything but Ragdoll cats )

Lilac is the dilute of chocolate. hypomelanism in cats is known as "dilute," and diluting genetically chocolate cats causes them to be lilac instead. as you say, this is common in ragdoll cats but otherwise generally rare. it's rare because chocolate is rare, and getting it in combination with dilute is even rarer. but chocolate is common in ragdolls. and then the ragdolls also get dilute and that makes lilac.
