One thing I really dislike are the comments on how this is not graceful or looks like Aikijujitsu. Aikikai is NOT all of Aikido. It's one style that is more focused on the internal spiritual side of the art. Yoshinkan will look different. That does not mean it is not Aikido.

Ando sensei is not holding back with his techniques, this must be painful but very good display of the practical side of aikido. Thanks Sensei

Wonderful techniques. Looks like Hakko-ryu Jujutsu in some of its components.

practical aikido. this is a requirement for the tokyo riot police to pass.

The Tokyo riot police takes an 11 month course to toughen up and build team spirit. Got nothing to do with "practical" or "pass". Lets finally bury this nonsense.

I've been in that first arm-lock. Chinese Kung Fu has it and if pressure is applied it hurts really bad.

I think this won't work on someone who is trained in fighting, this only works against unexperienced aggressors. In its core it could work but it would need to be changed a lot.

All it needs is some resistance testing. Blend it with wresling/judo and I can see this working even on trained individuals

What you think is irrelevant. These techniques work. Police in Japan are trained in using these techniques. The LAPD used to train officers in using these techniques. The moves are done fast. You can break someone's wrist or arm.
Trained fighter? Aiki jujitsu, the foundation of Aikido, was tested in actual battle and combat.
The student must learn to pull all this stuff together and flow from one movement/technique to another without hesitation.
You are watching too much UFC, which looks more like a street fight than actual martial art skill

q kaphyr Ummmmm...nope.Nobody who isn't a completely clueless idiot ever grabs the lapel and stands there like a statue waiting for the technique. The problem with aikido is they want "honnest and commited attacks" but teach the most idiotic, unrealistic and clueless ways of attacking. No wonder the techniques only work with other aikidoka.Anybody can throw or pin someone if they attack you like an aikido idiot.

Alex Scott at no point did anyone say they would just grab and stand there what he's doing is explaining the sequence as he does it, do you really need your hand held so much that you can't piece together that you would do the whole technique at full speed as soon as he grabs and before he punches on your own?
