British rally driver Jimmy McRea had the prescription in his lenses changed to make the corners seem further away so he would brake later.
Lmao.
That's pretty mental. When I put my wife's glasses on, I get dizzy too.
Jimmy McRea is a smart man
I heard Schumacher had his throttle pedal configured so that when he lifted off a tiny bit, nothing changed.. love that.
If you're already always brake later because you're not a good driver then when using the glasses you'll brake more later and be a more not good driver. And when using in town you'll brake later too and will get you tickets because you stop after the traffic lights, scratches your car on buildings because you brake later in corners and bump cars on front of you when stopping. Should win Nobel prize!
Did i just watch a 11min ad?
Maybe the time is faster simply because Matt was more familiar around the track and was more confident of when he could brake later and get on the power sooner after having learned the track from the first lap.
I love this generation of Porsches
Some of the second and a bit you picked up might be a result of the “transition lap” being the lap you took second. A bit of practice or a recon lap will have a similar effect.
Yeah the first was basically a warm up lap meaning the second lap will boost matts confidence even without the glasses on

Next time try the transition lenses first.
That way the tyres arent warm and you havent settled yourself in 😉
Yeah that or do another set of laps back using the normal glasses a second time to verify.
My god Mat has sold his sole now to a glasses company,😂😂🤣🤣😊
There's no way you wrote soul with an e hahaha
Mat, your videos are awesome but this one in particular just didn’t gel well for me.
I’d prefer you perform 3 laps for each glasses and also have another non generic polarised glasses just for better comparison.
If you’re not going to perform a proper experiment, I’d enjoy it more if you had Yanni explain your in-depth performance and 30 click up links every time you mentioned the glasses instead.
It's just polarised sunglasses ... the sepia tone makes it easier to see when u drive for some reason .. I got sepia toned polarised sunglasses ... any brand will do just make sure they're polarised. The polarised part helps greatly reduce glare and the sepia tone increases contrast making everything pop and look hd instead of making then darker like black sunglasses ... black lenses reduce all spectrum of light equally making everything darker whereas the sepia lenses blocks all lights except the ones related to the sepia tone .. hence the colour and this colour compliments road surfaces. Just like a red lens makes everything look red because it's blocking all light spectrum from going through to your eyes except red hence you see everything red. OK ill stop now but you get the point 😂
Hi, you seem knowledgeable on the lenses and coatings. I was advised to get some Leica lenses with their coating, as it helps with low light and night driving. I have to admit that as the light drops towards evening and early morning low light, they seem to have a very good clarity to them. At night time, the lights from cars and other objects are less blinding or glaring. In everyday light they have a great crystal clear clarity to them. I wonder, hence the reason why I'm asking, how much is this clarity etc due to my prescription which has gone up by almost -1 in strength, or if it's the coating that has aided the clarity? They're very expensive lenses and I don't want to pay that amount in future. I am wondering whether there are alternative options. Thanks in advance.

Problem is that Mat may have been quicker with glasses because he used the glasses later on in the day. Meaning he had practice running the track before he even put on the glasses; and ultimately more comfortable and new the track better. Thus, he had a quicker lap time. This is definitely a flawed test. With all that said, I still very much enjoyed the vid.
9:00 wooow the process is grear
Like ski glasses/goggles that have been used for decades to help you see the slope properly with the glare of the sun on the snow?
Skip this video to skip the ad
I’ve been using these for a couple years… they are indeed awesome in my prescription sunglasses.
Nice work Mat, great lenses for driving in all daytime conditions!
Maui Jim does the same or even better because of technology in them!
But even any sunglasses will do the thing compared to the regular ones!
I agree
Hell of a way to advertise some glasses 😂👍
Amazing!!! It's great to see people always trying to make improvements to the convenience of other people.
It would be interesting if you did the test first with the driving glasses as testing second is also when you’re more familiar with the track.
Also, polarised lenses are great for reflections however not so great for reading LED displays and Ben Collins says that never to use them.
I’m not sure I agree with Ben as I use them and find them great in most situations
You mean LCD displays as this would result in cross-polarisation and a blanked out screen. LED light isn't polarised so is unaffected.
@@Chris-ri7hb yes, I agree as that’s been my experience as well however when you look from certain angles you can see the screen going black/blank. I also believe that HUD’s also have issues with them.
I thought this was going to be about thr GT3, not a 10 minute advert
Nice pairs!
I mean a 2nd lap will almost certainly be faster than the 1st. Tho if it really was the glasses, and old drug store pair would do the same
I don't know if everyone knows that but this is the function of sunglasses 😂 Nice try Matt but you want to drive the GT3 RS one more time
Mat your videos are awesome 💯
I have to say Mat you look good with them glasses on
Matt I v got 996 with a sport exauts, It opens a valve above 3500 rpm and no problem with the legal inspections in spain. Its an amazing sound!
Welcome back mate 😄
Whole thing was like watching QVC
"With some wa a on the track"
Never gets old
Never before have I ever seen that written

The bad thing about darker glasses while driving in an uneven road is that sometimes you miss the bumps
Great Matt loving the glasses what make and colour look like Ray Ban?? Thanks 🙏
You look presidential when you wear the sunglass, Matt.
The wail of that GT3...
Matt's living in absolute boys' dream
Very cool glasses but how are they looking out the side windows if they are legally tinted as dark as legal tint allowed ?
Will the glasses help for night glare (star effect of on coming lights)?
Yes i want these
Very scientific 😂
Sam ‘Racing Instructor’
Normally whipping boy of Car Wow, so that’s quite a promotion 😂
I really the color on the new Porsche 911 gt3 rs
WHAT WHAT WHAT!!! WOOOO
NEXT: *THIS ROBOT VACUUM MADE ME FASTER AT THE Nürburgring!*
Does anyone here know if these work behind tinted windscreens? I have transition lenses but they dont work without UV.
Mat please try to review the w204 c63 that would be amazing
Nice
Been watching your videos for 2 years and I still don't know what you really use to pick up your kids from school 😂😂😂
You look suspiciously like the leader of the free world with those sunglasses on
If only they could make lenses better for night time driving, the oncoming cars with the LED lights can cause me issues on certain roads by dazzling me,it's not because they're on full beam, just so bright white and the dipping function seems non existent at times or very delayed!
Yeah I have polarisation and brown lenses for contrast in my Wayfarers.
Yes and it works. My specialist recommended amber tints for better depth perception. I was really surprised by the difference.

As a professional driver I use Ray Ban Polarized - never let me down so far.
Sunglasses with polarized lenses doesnt help?
With that intro I'm not even gonna bother to watch this one! You are better than this Mat!
Try these glasses on royal royce barbas with white interior. The car you driven already on carwow channel that is best way to compare this glasses 🤔
Sold out
Your dream car yh
Glasses Mat?
I think Mat got some new specs
Shameless advert for sunglasses from start to finish, boring 👎🏻
Hi Mat from Brazil
Hi Mat I just came here to Like, Comment and Download your Video👍🏼
I like the German guy by the Way, he's cool
This is why when I was a bus driver and even now driving vehicles with a higher searing position I wear shades, cause after it rains and the sun is out the tarmac is like a sheet of mirror. The glare is so bad.

I like how normal lense go pro view look worse than regular carwow shots xd
No grade obviously
If they make the lines on the road easier to see in heavy rain. I'll buy a pair..

What RC cars are you running these days?
Must have been an expensive ad from glassdirect
Any glasses with the same anti glare would do the same :s
Mat, could you make a race of a GTA Spano vs Ferrari Sf 90?
So basically, this was just a commercial for sunglasses!?!
White body with blue ‘gt3 rs’ and blue accents and gold wheels
Matt made a sunglasses commercial
Just wear sun glasses 🤣🤣🤣
Cheap alternative, fishing glasses or anything polarized lense.
In all fairness it's a sponsored vid so he wouldnt say that but he would if he could
Luxottica sponsorship here... 😉
That is like ultimte tom cruise style
Isn't it counter productive to cancel out reflections on water with the polarization!? Like this you see puddles of water later and makes it more dangerous (aquaplaning). In racing you want to see the puddles as early as possible, which only works without polarization...
your stick inspection will make you much faster
Hey Mat you forgot to tell us your heads up display will completely vanish.
So basically your racing driver for Carwow "Faceless Sam" is Jason Statham?!

So in order for Matt to get some free glasses we have to watch a pointless video. Who would have thought modern sunglasses help when it's sunny? It's worth bearing in mind that there is a legal limit for how dark driving glasses can be. Still at least we have a good drinking game if you have a drink every time he says transition driveway lenses..
Mat you might wanna say it somewhere this video is sponsored

The real test should be a high quality sunglasses vs the transition glasses.
Using a normal glass vs the transition is irrelevant because the normal lenses has no sun protection at all.
This guy can sell ice to an eskimo 😂
Sound broken?
This video has WS Teleshop vibes.
So. Sunglasses help in the sun 😂
where them when doing the drag races
👍
Hey, it's Sam, Racing Driver Sam
It's bloody Jason Statham
Nice advert
Please show us your car mhen 😂😂😂
When did you start wearing glasses cuz every time I see you doing your thing you're not wearing glasses?
Did anyone ever tell you that u look like Clint Eastwood in those shades?!
I want these just to go outside and not be dazzled by the blooming sun and its innumerable reflections on car/building glass.
